Just finished the graphic novel Maus. Both are great works from 'new journalism' and highly evocative.
I've read Maus too. Was very interesting.
I'm almost done reading the book Johnny Got His Gun. I think this book is amazing. It's about a World War 1 soldier that gets severely injured in battle yet gets to the hospital in time so he's still alive. However, his face is basically a crater in his head. His eyes, nose, ears, and mouth/jaw are all gone. He breathes through a tube from his throat. Both his arms and his legs get cut off. However, he has a full functioning brain so he is trapped inside of his own mind unable to communicate to the world. It's a very anti-war novel and it really does make you think about things. To any Metallica fans out there, the song "One" is about the book. I recommend it to all of you, even if you are pro-war. My boyfriend loves the book yet still wants to join the military.. He's weird.
Here's the music video to the Metallica song "One" it has clips from the movie, and does an amazing job describing the book

Bought 'The Road' by Cormac McCarthy (same guy who wrote 'No Country For Old Men') on Saturday and read it in one sitting on Saturday afternoon. Brilliant book, the ending was a little lackluster compared to the rest but it was still amazing.

I read that book last summer in one sitting as well. Gripping read.
Vastly dissapointing. It's not just that it's badly written, which it is, completely lacking in narrative structure and descriptive imagery and far too formal concerning language and syntactical style, but it's often just innacurate when attempting to link into the game. It seems to have been written for 12 year olds (no insult meant to those of that age or younger who do read challenging books - I'm making a huge generalisation here). The author appears to have only a minimum understanding of Runescape.
A very boring, all too often silly narrative. A shame.
