No ones going home. He's sending more troops to Afghanistan. My unit is set to deploy to Iraq in August 09, but Obama may send our unit to Afghanistan. He wants 3 brigades in by summer. And wants to double the number of forces in Afghanistan. Closing Guantanamo will make us look better but will do us no good.

I'm pretty sure that those troops going to Afghanistan will be coming from Iraq, in the provinces where the Iraqi army is currently in control.
Still, the troops in Guantanamo won't go back to the US since there's also a military base there under some treaty with Cuba.

Terrorism is not just the act of committing an attack on a country, it's also the panning of such activity. As you can imagine, proving that these suspects are actually guilty of the crime can be quite tricky; but if the threat is serious, and the suspect is considered dangerous - would it really be responsible to let them walk around free?

I'm far from agreement that people should be imprisoned without true evidence to put them in a cell, but I wouldn't want terrorism suspects wandering around my town - would you?

Perhaps the closing of this facility is a good thing; or maybe there will be 'consequences'.

I just hope that Obama knows what he's doing. I hope he has a place to put these prisoners. #-o
