Ok, so the area where I live was under a tornado warning for most of today. This is what normally happens when there's a warning/watch for severe weather: The warning comes in, everyone sits around all day for something fun to happen, nothing happens. Well, my sister heard the warning and started freaking out that we needed to hurry to the basement and stay there all day. My response was (by the way I was completely joking around when I said this) "Severe weather warnings are created by the government so that the companies that make the products found in most emergency kits, like bottled water, flashlights, batteries, etc. can make more money from idiots who freak out at the slightest hint of thunder because they know that said idiots will run to the nearest Wal-Mart and buy the products. Thus, this makes those companies make more money, and the stores they buy the products from make more money. It's all a conspiracy." I finished my statement and I realized something...that actually kinda made sense. So I wanna know, how many of you believe some conspiracy theories?

Depends on the theory. The theory that the 9/11 attacks were an inside job by some elite group of people who secretly run the government and want to rule the world is a bit far fetched and hard to believe. Others, like that major corporate interests are poisoning our political system (which is hardly a conspiracy theory, as it's pretty much out in the open), are much easier to buy.

But what did such a Teuton afterwards look like when he had been "improved" and led into a monastery? Like a caricature of a human being, like an abortion: he had become a "sinner," he was in a cage, one had imprisoned him behind nothing but sheer terrifying concepts... There he lay now, sick, miserable, filled with ill-will towards himself; full of hatred for the impulses toward life, full of suspicion of all that was still strong and happy. In short, a "Christian"... - Twighlight of the Idols

I tend not to believe them, even if they are logical/make sense. Many times people will go back and analyze an event and find new evidence or learn something new that takes more credibility away from conspiracy theories and gives it to the most widely believed theories that give the best explanation for something happening. I'd rather do the research myself than believe a theory somebody else came up with, either out of the blue or with their own research.

Some of them are plausible, but a lot (see: 9/11 was staged, Moon landing was faked, the Earth is flat) are just too out there with no solid evidence.

Well, the earth being flat wasn't as much a conspiracy as it was unknown. Although, at the time, many people had suspicions that the world was round even before Columbus and his famous voyages. Even Eratosthenes back in ancient Greece estimated the circumference of the earth to approximately 39,690 km, an error of less than 1% to the actual circumference of the earth. Pretty awesome stuff.

As an american myself, i beleive that the attacks were inhumane, wrong and shouldn't have happened. With that being said, I agree with your above post. It would take alot of "hushing up" and "bribing senators" for something like that to happen. To be honest, id rather beleive the event didnt happen.

As for the whole conspiracy thing, I'd say i do beleive that there are some "unexplained circumstances" in other conspiracies. Take "A-51" for example. In the US, there are people that think they know that the government has aliens or whatever down there, when in fact, they probably get the stuff from conspiracy websites. In true actual fact, They wouldn't even get to the gates before they either got shot, or arrested.

The conspirator that said the moon landing was a fake is so unbelievably stupid. N.A.S.A wouldn't do something like that.

Cheers, dafin0

Well the Russians were full of them at one point huh? haha

I think that the cover up alien ones are completely true. Face it people, aliens are real! I have a friend from Kuwait who is 100% set on that American was in on 9/11, which I personally think is crap.

I was referring to present day that still believe the earth is flat. Look up Flat Earth Society if you want more information.

Wasn't that the point of the attacks?

The Lincoln-Kennedy secretary thing is kinda cool, but I don't think it's a conspiracy. That's probably the closest one that I would think would be a conspiracy that I've heard, so no I don't believe any of the ones I've heard.

I wouldn't call it a conspiracy unless it was a theory about something unknown. Obviously, it's been proven the earth is round. Why not acknowledge the earth is round?
