How awesome would it be to get farming xp and a little bit of construction x from raising cows, chickens, pigs, etc.?

Players will be able to raise different animals based on their skill levels. For instance, chickens will be the first thing players can raise, then pigs, cows, goats, etc. Players can sell said animals.

Additional xp can be gained from slaughtering certain grown animals like chickens,xp is gained from gathering, feathers, meat, skins, etc. Pack animals can be raised to carry stuff for you but can't go certain places, like places pets can't go.

Yaks are the highest level animal that is both for wool and a pack animal. Animals will eventually die, and xp gained from them decreases as they get old. The higher your farming, the longer your animals live.

The higher your farming, the more of a certain animal you can raise. A higher farming level means more piggies in the pen.

Livestock will be fed with wheat and other crops. Certain animals will have certain diets. Therefore, you can leave your animals with NPCs near farming patches.

So discuss, and bounce some ideas around, and give some feedback.

This isn't a bad idea. It could definitely be a part of farming. It could also be combined with Construction. You could build farming/ranching plots at your PoH and farm there as well. Like a lot of skills, there are always things that could be added like this to make them better. Good idea.

I was just thinking of that a few week ago. I was torn between whether it could be part of farming (because technically in real life it is), or whether it would be a skill on it's own. I think as part of a farming update, it would really expand the farming skill into a whole new realm.

Imagine having a whole row of incubater's that you could put eggs in to raise your own chickens. You would get XP when they hatched into chicks, then as long as you kept them alive, you would get XP when they grew into full grown chickens. Then you could have several options. You could leave them alone, kill them off yourself and start over with a new batch of eggs, or sell them to a farmer/slaughterhouse for cash.

High level farmers could go to the island of Nezinot (spelling?), and purchase a herd of young yaks to be delivered to your farm. You could raise them, get xp, and kill them of yourself for the yak hides, or sell them back for cash.

Or how about this one, Imagine buying a whole herd of cows in lumbridge, then having to "drive" them across runescape to your farm, like a cattle drive from the old west, lol. That would be quite a challenge, perhaps it could be an activity where you get enlist the help of others, who would in turn get farming xp for successfully driving the cattle. The more cows that made it, the more xp you would get. Sort of a farming distraction and diversion.

So many possibilities for adding "animal husbandry" to the farming skill. I could go on and on, lol.

Thelion, it's "Neitiznot". I think this is kind of like the original idea behind summoning, called Animal lore. I think it would be interesting, but I don't think they'd put in pack animals, since familiars do that already. On the whole, I think it would be interesting as it could also introduce cooking with pork/bacon, ostrich and the like. Imagine being able to have ostrich-leather boots or something like that... mmmmm, ostrich burger...

A Kid asked Jesus, "How much do you love me?" and Jesus said. "This much." And spread his arms out on the cross and died. If you believe that he did this for you put this in your signature.

Lol it definitely should be part of farming since the current farming skill is just gardening... but I guess the crop aspect of the skill would still be gardening even with this XD

At level 90 farming and construction you could build a factory farm and make a lot of GP and XP and there would be cool cutscenes of the horrible conditions and having just one factory farm would be huge experiences rates to the torturing skill, let alone multiple factory farms.. level 99 torturing within a few days! There could also be a quest where some activists are trying to shut down your factory farm but luckily they have little affect because they're just regarded as annoying and stupid and then you have people supporting you saying how we are made to torture animals like that because of how are teeth are then you have to find this set of golden teeth buried deep in some unknown land unlocking a new area populated by zombies and then eventually you gain dominance over the activists and raise them in your factory farm and then with your set of golden teeth you eat them which gives you level 4 in the cannibal skill allowing you to start training it and the quest can give a large XP reward to slayer herblore and runecrafting and then you can start this other quest where the elves invade the rest of runescape and as a reward you become and elf but because you are an elf you are hated for being different so you can't do anything anymore thus you have finished the game.

thats actually a good idea. I think it would be difficult to implement though. And would probably be hard to make it so it's not repetitive

Yeah, the developers would probably have to bend over backwards for this if they chose to do this, but it would made farming a lot more interesting.
