Bringing back the old wild and free trade?

So, Jagex is having a vote, and is seriously considering bring back the wild and free trade from 2007. Have you voted? What are your thoughts on it?

I voted yes. I miss being able to go out and pk with friends like I use too, also I miss being able to give and receive items for Christmas for instance, or my birthday.

Evidence-
A. They spent all the time implementing the GE, banning thousands of accounts for rwt, and spent hours on end trying to ban bots(which we'll see increase as rwt is reintroduced). Jagex is just gunna erase all that hard work b/c PLAYERS SAID SO? Never seen before.

B. There's no login page for the petition? No No option? You don't even need a ********? Sketch?

C. Maybe Jagex is running out of players, as their players have been in decline since the bas stream of updates, this would explain their haste in appealing to older players.

D. What is this "Guinness World Records. Copyright 2010 Jagex Games Studio Ltd. All rights reserved." I see at the end of the page? Guiness world records? What does rs have to do with that? Are they trying to make the records of having the most player vote on an issue in an mmorp*?

E. I just tried voting 5x on my user name, no block message bc I voted twice? Just a nice "thank you for your vote" message? This seems more like an april fools joke than Jagex.

F. What will happen to the ge?

Whether it's a sham or not, can't hurt to vote. If you vote and it comes back, you did your part. If you voe and it doesn't, then there was nothing you could have done about it anyway.

If they are doing this just as a joke, I can guarantee you that they will lose even more players. Nothing like removing one of the great aspects of the game, then 3 years later taunting us with them bringing it back. If they thought the release of Dungeoneering was a rant and rage fest on the forums, their servers will prolly crash due to all the amount hate topics posted. If they think its funny and cute to taunt us then I'll show them my support by spending my money with Blizzard instead of them.

But hey, if they're serious......SAH-WEEEEEEEEEEET!

Ah well, might as well vote... If it works, Runescape might get some of it's former glory back.

I dont understand it if they are not seriously considering it. I took what, 2 years to settle down the rants? And now they are going to re fire them? Doesnt sound reasonable to me, but I guess this is Jagex...

regardless of how sketchy it looks, its on the main page, so jagex put it there themselves. the guiness book of records refference is in regards to runescape's big bolded claim at the top of the mainpage that says "worlds most popular free mmorpg".

as it requires no login, i'd assume its IP based, and no matter how many times you vote, its only tracking that you voted from your IP.

if you're looking for a conspiracy theory, keep searching. you'll get nowhere. considering how little effort it takes to type your name and hit vote, you're mental if you're fretting over how too-good-to-be-true it sounds, rather than just voting once and telling your friends. if its real, which it probably is, then GREAT. vote or dont' vote accordingly. if its fake, WHO CARES? vote or don't vote anyway because what harm can it cause?

Thanks for putting this out there, although I didnt think of the IP thing, but also think of the cred. they will lose and the amount players they would lose would be disastrous if theyre lying.

Yeah it is really weird especially their wording of it. When I first saw it I thought "sounds like a publicity stunt (idk what else to call it to describe what I thought as publicity stunt doesn't sound 100%)" especially because of the way they worded it.

Anyways kind of disappointing that you can't say you want free trade but not the wildy. I definitely don't want the old wilderness back.

I don't think it tracks IP address because I tested this and voted twice, and both times my name appeared on the list of recent voters.
But I think that because it requires your actual username, people will be less able to put forward other people unless they've know them for a long time, what with name changes and the recent username as email address update.

I don't think there should be a trade limit. Life if you want to try and sell your rune dagger for 1M why not. If you want to sell your godsword for 5k, why not. But I think the ge should stay with the guidelines and the GE guidelines shown on the trade screen if the GE is going to stay in it's current form. But it's current form is very simplistic in a way that i don't think is better than if there was more to it.

Oh, another think i just realised,
No matter what the outcome of the vote is, it will cost Jagex Millions.
Either all the law suits and extra anti botting software/staff they will have to introduce.
Or the multitudes of angry players that will quit because their hopes have been dashed.
So in my opinion, I take this as a sign of good will from Jagex.
Sure needs a no vote though.

It would be so nice to have the game back without trade restrictions. However, I don't think this is the right way to do it, I would have to vote no.

A few questions:
1. For such an issue, how is having a vote that's in no way controlled valid?
2. What threshold is going to be used to decide yes or no?
3. What about all the work put into improving the GE over the past 3 years? Just down the drain? (think manhours lost in development time)
4. What's the business motive behind this? I find it very disturbing when a CEO of a large company (Jagex is large for their market, online browser game) can turn over such a decision to the players. This could backfire real bad.

Also, given the conditions of the poll I think it will happen. You wouldn't make such a poll that's so loosely defined without making plans for how it would pan out and what the repercussions would be. Along with this implementation would also have to be planned, in software development things are planned months in advance.

They need to work on all the Bots in the game. this would bring rwt's back.
they can't handle 1 problem, why make a 2nd.
