I'm surprised theres been no talk on this. Is anyone planning on going?

I was mildly amused by the idea when i first saw it just to see what types of "adults" would be showing up to this little get together. Then i saw the ticket price was going to cost more than heading to Blizzs little do they held in Europe a few years back. Still might head down there with a camera to take photos of the weirdos heading in there in there costumes.

..Despit the fact that i just openly mocked anyone considering it please do come forward if you're going. :D Seems odd to me that they'd rule out children i would of thought this sort of crap would be the ideal thing to take your kid to. Not a sorta thing most adults would be interested in.

One interesting thing about it is that it's going to happen the day before my birthday, so yeah, the idea of going there as my birthday party came to my mind #-o .
But I prefer to make a kart racing tournament to unleash all the testosterone.

The ticket price is a bit expensive for my taste too...

I agree... I always thought of RS as a kids game. Its going to be some big old orgy of old people? yuck...

If I lived in England I would go, but since I am a few thousand miles away... yea. If they have it in 2 years when I am there for school, then I will go.

Well I was considering going, still undecided. But I am properly teed off with Jagex refusal to announce the venue and various other misguided attempts at 'whetting the appetite' when all they are doing is irritating people who might otherwise go.

As time goes on the Jagex staff are still fielding or belittling queries I am less and less likely to go. When I first read about it I thought I would really like to go, the Very First Runefest and all that!! But very few of the advertised activities appeal to me; ogre wresting? so help me?

I wanted to go to meet people, players and designers. I drink very little alcohol, only wine with dinner usually, beer and lagers not at all so the alcohol provision does not interest me. I had hoped to make a small group with some real life friends who also play RS but they have already got arrangements for that weekend. As it so happens my sis-in-law lives in SE London and would be delighted if I went for a few days either side of the Fest.

As for the cost , yes at £75 it is quite high, especially for a first attempt at a Fest, and made about 10% higher by tickets only being available through ticketmaster agency. It seems to me as if Jagex want it to be bigger and better than anything similar. The fact that they chose London on a Bank Holiday Weekend, and London also hosting the Notting Hill Carnival, makes me think someone didn't do their homework.

I have posted extensively on the RS forums about this, the above is only a small portion of that.

Not worth the trip from America to Britain just to get there. Otherwise, I might consider it. Not a huge Ruenscape fan, but I play the game and that's good enough for me. Just the idea of a video game themed party or tv show themed party doesn't appeal to me ever. I prefer to just watch the show or play the game. Anything event that happens in real life related to the thing isn't that great imo. But that's just me.

It's also right when the reading festivel kicks off. Which will suck away a large amount of young adults. I know which I'd pick.

The saga continues today with Zero response from Jagex and J-Mods to ticket concerns.

People who bought tickets on Friday are unable to print them off. One person related their call to ticketmaster; they are waiting for another batch of valid barcodes from Jagex, they can't generate the e-tickets without these.

There has been such a rant about the 'Fest flagstaff' I have to wonder if Jagex are having emergency meetings - or maybe they all took leave this Bank Holiday as have to be at the Fest in August ;)

Wonder how many barcodes they sent in the first place? so many questions and No answers.

Curiouser and curiouser :!:

No way I would travel across the Atlantic Ocean for a game festival. Especially a game I'm not even supposed to be playing.

I think Jagex is thinking too far ahead with the "suspense." If they keep quiet any longer, people are going to get so mad, they'll decide not to go. They need to first show that RuneFest is worth going by actually holding the thing at the right place and time then after a few RuneFests when people know what is going to happen they can start being tight-lipped about it. And at least half their player base is not in the UK so to mention it two months before it is is a little short notice. Plus it doesn't sound like they've been thinking/ putting it together all that long.

Sorry if this doesn't make sense, a little distracted right now.

I can't attend. If jagex did a event over here in australia, i would go, but it would be a logistical nightmare if they did. Plus, it's easier to do it in their home country rather then overseas.

Cheers, daifn0

If they hold one in San Diego or Los Angeles sometime down the line I'd go, maybe even Las Vegas, but i'm not paying for more than admission + 1 tank of gas for a runescape fanparty convention thing.
