Well I was considering going, still undecided. But I am properly teed off with Jagex refusal to announce the venue and various other misguided attempts at 'whetting the appetite' when all they are doing is irritating people who might otherwise go.
As time goes on the Jagex staff are still fielding or belittling queries I am less and less likely to go. When I first read about it I thought I would really like to go, the Very First Runefest and all that!! But very few of the advertised activities appeal to me; ogre wresting? so help me?
I wanted to go to meet people, players and designers. I drink very little alcohol, only wine with dinner usually, beer and lagers not at all so the alcohol provision does not interest me. I had hoped to make a small group with some real life friends who also play RS but they have already got arrangements for that weekend. As it so happens my sis-in-law lives in SE London and would be delighted if I went for a few days either side of the Fest.
As for the cost , yes at £75 it is quite high, especially for a first attempt at a Fest, and made about 10% higher by tickets only being available through ticketmaster agency. It seems to me as if Jagex want it to be bigger and better than anything similar. The fact that they chose London on a Bank Holiday Weekend, and London also hosting the Notting Hill Carnival, makes me think someone didn't do their homework.
I have posted extensively on the RS forums about this, the above is only a small portion of that.
It's also right when the reading festivel kicks off. Which will suck away a large amount of young adults. I know which I'd pick.
