wouldnt it be cool to have a renting/borrowing ge? Im serious that would be awesome... how can i get in touch with jagex to see if they would consider that update?

That would sort of help out but now borrowing/lending is out, it gets people talking to other people like back before the ge was out. So i am going to have to say no on a borrowing/lending ge.

Well that would really eliminate the point of buying an item. And even then, what would the initiative to put an item up for borrowing be?

Even if it could work well, I don't like it. I personally think you shouldn't ask strangers to borrow an item, period. It's like asking for free stuff. But I guess there's the party room for that.

It would turn out a disaster. When people needed an item, they would just go borrow it. No need to earn their own money. Prices would drop as people tried to sell stuff, due to nobody needing anything except raw materials. The market would die.

I think it's a little too complicated. What if someone who put an item into GE for other people to borrow it but then wanted it back? It's not going to be fair on either person.

agreed but since borrowing came out ppl lending theyre gs for money ect yet i think it's point was that you borrow item to friend like phat or so like in old time but ppl started to borrow too much and intention to buy is gone for good. Why buy item if you can borrow it for like a small fee? personally having rare is pain in *** now eveyrone begs for it good thing i think rears aren't nessesary in me rs account.

I'm not totally dead set against the borrowing, but I'd be on the verge of quitting if you could borrow through the GE. Similar to the person in Episode 163 of the RSBANDBUpdate, I think people should have to work for their items. I didn't mind lending when it was between friends, with the lender having to trust whoever they were lending something to, but now it's more of a joke. The mere fact that people don't have to care where their items are troubles me. Not necessarily literally, but I think Jagex has complicated everything since they decided to go crazy on the bots.

If people were allowed to borrow through the GE nobody would have any incentive at all to work for an item. Sure, the list might be long (if there were a list) if you wished to borrow something, but you'd probably get it eventually. The item renting isn't too bad, but you can technically only charge 30k for up to a full day, something not worth it if you've got a high-valued item. It's almost like a welfare state, in a way. The poor (in general, anyway) are allowed the best items if they ask for them, and they don't have to pay a GP. There's no need to work anything anymore, and sticking around to get another skill cape isn't exactly what I'd think of a worthwhile activity.

Exactly ... when I see someone with a godsword or santa, or maybe even a party hat, I don't start thinking that person was dedicated to working for it. I first wonder if they've borrowed the item, and sometimes it's obvious if they have. The feeling of accomplishment that comes with expensive items is a little less now that there could be some noob running around saying they worked as hard as you did when they simply borrowed the thing, but it doesn't bother me too much since I know I actually bought mine

Having a borrow option in the GE would ruin incentives, like everyone said. If you need a godsword or piece of armor (possily an entire set if they go that far), just go there and borrow it. There goes some of the need to earn gp.

Lending through friends is nice when you just want to experiment or do so for the heck of it, but random people.. not so much. Also don't see how borrowing through GE would work unless someone didn't really want their item, renting would at least give the lender some cash.

Not a good idea. The economy is bad as is and this would ruin the purpose of buying an item. There's no need for an item lending Grand Exchange.

I personally do not like the idea too well. I think that players need to work to get their items, instead of bumming an item off of their friend. If you want something, you have to earn it.

The lending system is good enough as it is. As some of the previous posters have said, integrating a lending system through the Grand Exchange would practically eliminate the purpose of aquiring the item for yourself, which would unbalance the game's economy. Also, as said by other previous posters, what would be the motivation for other players to lend an item out?
