Instead of Jagex consistently increasing the number of Worlds, why don't they increase the amount of people that can be in a certain World by about 500 or so, nothing so big it will overcrowd it.

they not only set up worlds to fit more people in, but to set up new servers in different palces in the world. say they just used like 10 servers, 5 in usa, 2 in canada and the rest somewhere else, and they each could fit 30,000 people in them. first of all it would be to crowded (preetty much 1 person per square), and people in australia, or china, or japan, or the uk, etc. will not have a good connection because the servers are to far away. tahts why they make more servers and less people fit in the ones made already.

(servers is same as world, we just call it worlds.)

Actually, I think that a lot of the hardware couldn't take much more than 2k per world. I think around 2k the servers begin to bog down...it isn't only that there are 2k people in that world but often that those people are located in a close proximity. Say instead of just the East, West banks and the town square of Varrock being crowded you had the whole town filled. Now you have very dense amount of information in one area...and probably a lot of leg (at around 500 to 1000 people in an area it gets very laggy). Also, the previous point of there being not that many squares...especially in free world servers makes a good point. If you have x% of a given worlds squares taken up you probably start to lose reliability at a higher rate (the rate increases as the more squares increase meaning it is exponentially depreciating).

These are my guess why...but I"m sure Jagex has some pretty good reasons if these not it. I can't imagine they would spend more money on servers if they didn't have too.

No, I think they should keep adding more servers. It might be to much for the server to handle at 2500 people, or theres only enough space on it for 2000.

Maybe once Runescape gets a bit bigger (the map, not the amount of players). Then we'll all fit :)

It would be a lot more laggy if there was 2,500 people. Imagine world 2.

Man, the more worlds, the better. You'd have more freedom to do what you want to do without other people to mine the same rock, cut the same tree, fish the same spot, kill the same monster, etc.

More worlds ! :P
