No. It's not. Runecrafting indeed gives a lot of money to the economy. However, it is in no way easy, the abyss, shoul RCers not get pked there, would make it -easier-, but with the maximum of 410 experience for any deent leveled player in that skill (which I believe, not even 25,000 people actually have) runecrafting is infact the slowest, most irritating skill to raise. I don't use the abyss, for two reasons.
1) I see -anyone- who pks in level 1-10 wilderness a noob. ESPECIALLY if they're scrounging off people trying to skill! 2) Losing my pouches. it takes HOURS to get these back.
Oh, and if runecrafting was EASY. How come less than 7500 people have 1 million experience?

First off, RC is still one of the easiest and best ways to make money, hence it's a dominant money-making skill, as opposed to skills that do not make much much. Whether people choose to RC or not is irrelevant.
Very few people reach 1m RC exp because even if you start RCing nature runes and nothing else after 44 RC, it would require over 100,000 nature runes crafted for 1m exp. Even if you only do 1/5 of that, you still made a very nice chunk of cash, even higher ess costs. At 91 RC, you can make as much as 4,000 nature runes an hour, and even at lower levels (well below 1m exp) you can make 1500+ nats an hour. Even taking ess costs into account, RC easily supplies anyone with even low levels (such as 50 for a large pouch) the ability to make over 300,000 gp an hour.
Jagex intentionally placed the abyss in the wilderness knowing that there would be PKers swarming the area to kill RCers. Before the abyss, RC was even harder to train. I just think of the abyss as an added bonus and don't mind the pkers at all. It's really hard to get abyssal pked unless you don't wear the right gear or use common sense.
I congratulated my friend when he pked a RCer who was wearing full rune. Why? Because the person was needlessly foolish for doing so.
"runecrafting is infact the slowest, most irritating skill to raise. "
It is slow, but the profits are immense, so that's irrelevant. At a mere 44 RC, you have access to one of the ultimate money making skills in the game, which gets even better at 50, 75, and 91.
You can get to 44 RC in a day or two just crafting air runes, and you'd make profit doing so.
And RC is definetly no more irritating than any other repetative skill that RS has to offer, such as agility or mining. It's a mindless task, much like every other single skill in the game, making it very easy.
I suspect that the only reason more people don't use the abyss is because they don't have the GP to afford a stockpile of glories for teleporting back to edgeville over and over or can't afford the initial costs of buying the essence. (this of course, only applies to the people with the ability to nat craft)

If it's not broke, don't fix it.
Unfortunately, Jagex just loves making this mistake. Over and over again.
The game itself is never "broke", so therefore every update they ever do, ever (besides bug fixes) would violate this rule. Which is why I think it's the dumbest thing people can say when there's an update. Give a good reason for why you dislike the update, but don't claim that Jagex ruined RS or the game will never be the same or that you and all your friends and family and country are quitting or that you'll quit and become a scammer... People over-react about the dumbest things, which is the thesis for my entire argument with this thread.
Personally, I don't care either way for this update as I never drop my pouches because it never gets to that point for me, but it was the over-exaggeration of the issue that got to me.
" For once, why can't Jagex come out with an idea to BENEFIT RuneCrafters, not Pkers?? Now, they're just trying to ruin the skill of RuneCrafting with this and the pure essence update."
