Obtaining accounts (expecially pay2play activated ones) by means of circumventing runescape security measures is illegal. People work hard on their accounts and wouldn't appreciate it if their account was taken (nor would any of us). Any kind of malicious action(s) will result in jail time. I proudly support the actions of the police e-crimes unit for arresting this guy.

I am not suprised that it reached legal status. It dosen't matter how you do it. The rules are rules. And the breaking of such rules results in jail time. But, what the guy should have done is gone up to jagex and showed them how he would break into the system. That way, he might have gotten a job out of it. Instead, he stole the accounts :O

Cheers. dafin0

Good, very good. This should discourage some account stealers

Meanwhile some poor guy had his credit card details stolen and in exchange got a rather large bill. I really don't think a runescape account is important enough for them to be wasting there time myself.

I agree. In the grand scheme of things, hacked Runescape accounts aren't as important as identity theft and credit card fraud. Sure it sucks when you lose your account to hackers, but it sucks more when you lose your identity in real life or a credit card where the damage can be much more serious. Luckily, this guy was only going after Runescape account and nothing much more serious.

You should definitely get rid of the people around you. They sounds like real jerks.

the kid should have been banned anyways for buying gp. The worst part is he probably knew it was against the rules, and still did it. Even though hacking is against the rules, I think it's poetic justice that he was hacked. Besides, what is an 11-year-old doing playing runescape, especially without general chat turned off. If anything, the kid should be prosecuted by JAGeX for breaking their rules, not the kid prosecuting the hackers. Also, why didn't he just ignore the person in the first place? There are only two places to look for good clans in runescape, the RS forums and a recognized fan site forum like RSBANDB.

A Kid asked Jesus, "How much do you love me?" and Jesus said. "This much." And spread his arms out on the cross and died. If you believe that he did this for you put this in your signature.
