Linkin Park have announced the title of their new album. 'A Thousand Suns' will be put out on 14th September and will be followed by a world tour, starting with Europe.

Thoughts?
I'm really looking forward to it and can't wait to see them on the 4th November.

I hated there last album. Waited so long for them to stop rehashing old stuff and bring out something new and they brought out that U2-light hippy trash.

Go back to your old stuff it wasn't perfect but you had a unique sound now you just sound like every other band out there.

So my thoughts are; If it's more like there older albums great! If it's more like there newer stuff they can go to hell.

I didn't mind there last CD. Sure it was a change from what the normally do but it was still ok.

With that said, I do like there old stuff better and hope they go back to that.

Despite what I've heard people say about Linkin Park and their music style (all personal opinion, of course), I always look forward to their music. I really enjoy it and if it is anything like their other CDs, then I know it will be good. At least that's my opinion.

Their last album was a bit of a miss for me. What made them unique was the blend of singing, rapping, and hard rock. Then they dropped the rapping and "hard" from hard rock and became just your average rock band. There were a few good songs, but some of them were just unbearable, at least for me personally.

I'm hoping they go back to their Hybrid Theory/Meteora days...then again, from what I'm hearing, it's another concept album - a new direction altogether. It'll be interesting to see exactly what that direction is.

Anyhow, for those interested, the first single off the new album will be out on August 2nd - "The Catalyst"

Eh, I'm more into their older stuff. Meteora and the like. The last song I heard from them was New Divide at the end of Transformers 2 and it wasn't all that great. Maybe I'll listen to The Catalyst when it comes out

Yeah, they're having a competition for one fan to feature on 'The Catalyst', playing any kind of musical instrument. Last year, this would've been quite innovative but lately it's became the fad to get fans on your record.

EDIT: I downloaded the audio tracks to enter the competion for 'The Catalyst' remix thingy and it's all sounding very electronic right now.Click here to download them for yourself

New album coming out on Sept. 14. New song "The Catalyst" up on their Myspace. Thoughts? They're definitely getting new sounds again; I like it for the most part.

3:30 onwards is the best bit tbh.

It's an improvement. At least from this one track they sound like they have there own style unlike the last album which made them sound like just another generic band.

I have no hope for them at all tho and expect the rest of the album to be crap. But that song i like I'd just be surprised if the rest of the album wasn't a let down.

I'm not liking it.

I much prefer their old sound.

Wow, it doesn't even sound like them. If I heard it on the radio, it wouldn't have clicked with me that it was them.

I don't really like this new song that much though.

Very very different.

I like it tbh.
Do I hear a techno edge in there?

There is synthing with the beats and the vocals, but it's still a long way from being classified as techno.

Eh, it's alright. It's mediocre, it's not that great. Don't think it's right that people are still mourning the death of the original linkin park and comparing this replacement to that - they're dead, get over it - and I commend the band for changing themselves even though the rest of the world didn't want them to, but if they want to be something special, they really do need to find something else. The music they're coming out with now seems very forced, as if they're trying too hard to create something good without having the inspiration to do so.

I'll probably acquire the album at some point though.
