Ok so they did, but that was halfway thru the war, after Americans marched in to ruin all the Loyalists' towns in Ontario just from what they believed in.
And thats how the White House got its name, from the burning of the Presidents mansion. After the war, it was repainted white, and it has been called the "White House" ever since.
And don't forget the tarring and feathering the Pat's did to the Tories...that sounded brutal. I mean, pouring boiling tar over the guy then making him roll in feathers, and then hang him; all just because the poor dude didn't want to leave all his belongings behind.
Just reading this makes me want to watch "The Patriot" again. Then again, its a Hollywood vid from the Americans perspective.
But lets just stop. The War of 1812 itself was called "The war that nobody won", so neither will win by discussing our ideas on the matter.
