What year does runescape take place?

Obviously after 1609. I have discovered a telescope in draynor, much less the telescope at the observatory, and this leades me to the conclusion that runescape is somewhere between 1610 and 1740. why 1610? Let it be known to the world that one Mr. Galileo invented the telescope in the year 1609. There you have it.

It takes place now as we speak. The Jagex mods play a version of the game which is set in the future compared to us. Were in the past most likely after 1610 as Pika has stated. They then come to our world via a portal that we do not know about. Well this portal is for temporal displacement. See there is evidence of this all around the world take for example the cat speak amulet. Even in 2005 we can't do things like this so why would we have these back in the 1600's.

Our present is runescape's future.
Our past is runescape's present
Our future is the Jagex mod's present.
The past is the future, the futures the present, the present's the future, the presents the past. Ahhh

Jagex is creating soo many temporal incursions using this.

Cannons! SteamBoats! all devices of the past! Where's my photonic cannon if they bring devices that let me talk to the cat??!?!

Gah, I got a headache now., this is plausible though. Right?

hmm like some said.. it really isnt in one particular era or anything.. its a combination of many centuries and eras. But what shane said made sense and is conceivable.

All i can say is that its cool they way they are doing it, its not something all based on a story or a timeline of events that have happened. Obviously with the technology level everything is at in runescape its not the future. Wizards, Dragons, Magic, all based in the times of Merlin, King Arthur, Quest for the holy grail and such..

I dunno, im tired and blabering on. hopefully some of that made sense.

well when you where talking about the cat speak amulet you where referring to it as more of technology. but you got to remember, runescape replaces technology with magic. so things like teliporting and speaking to animals is played out as magic not technology of the future. so i think runescape is mainly based 1600's to 1700's (with a few exceptions)

I say it's in the year 2500+ and RuneScape is actually a holodeck! And since they didn't study history anymore they forgot that there were no things as trains in those days.

I think its in like the year 3000+
Cos storing magic in Runes is pretty advanced. And spells to increase stats, and changin items to gold.
and makin amulets of ghostspeak.

i think its a in a parallel universe, if it where real, but its a game and games don't have to make sense
