I've rented Skyrim for my xbox two weeks in a row from the Redbox kiosk. If I had the fund's I will buy it but will have to wait for a pre-owned copy that's cheaper. The game is simply overwhelming, so many places to go and things to do. The graphics are pretty, although I did see quite a few buggy areas, especially with the water, (whole sections of water were missing in the middle of a river). Also did encounter a mammoth who kept getting stuck between a rock and tree, and kept floating up into the air.
Typically on a game like this, I will just start a character, play it for awile, then start a new character once I learn from all the mistakes I made from the first character. For instance when I first started, I was constantly being over encumbered with stuff, so on my second character, I focused on making as much gold as I could so I could buy a house for storage, that way I could keep all the goodies I picked up rather than having to sell it all off for space.
I like to just go out and explore, rather than do quests right away. Usually I get myself into fight's I'm that I can't handle yet. One particularly funny one was when I first encountered a Giant. I started ranging it, just to see if I could do any damage, and before I knew it, it killed me with one hit, sending me flying up into the air head over heals, lol.
Ah yes giants. Those suckers are some of the toughest things around. I'm level 16 or so now and they still 1 hit me. Saying that i only wear robes as I'm 110% mage. Tho I'm finding it increasingly helpful to carry a sword as I've been working a lot on enchanting and i now have a fairly powerful golden dwarven sword that I've creatively called "Bling bling sword" that'll easily deal with those pesky mages that might try to block my magic.
Just completed the drunken quest line...dunno if anyones done that yet but theres a very nice staff at the end of it. Bought myself a horse cause you know...i have gold coming out my *** and nothing to spend it on tho if this horse has it's way it'll be dead soon...seems to want to attack everything.
24 hours played now...really not even bothered with the main story..i keep MEANING to do a quest but theres usually a cave/quest/person/monster/bandit camp/dragon/something that comes up as I'm walking there that distracts me. It's very hard to do one thing.
