Give me your opinion on bots. Personally I think they are annoying, but they do stimulate the economy. It is still unfair to the other players who have to work toward their achivements.

Bots have no positive effect on the economy. If there were no bots, raw resources would be more expensive, prompting more people to train those skills or go MM9 style and gather everything themselves. Training these skills would produce more income, thus allowing players to offset the heightened cost of buyables. In short, less bots = more money for everyone else.

In my opinion, bots are an eyesore, especially the long lines of them that run from Varrock east bank down to the runecrafting store to be teleported to the rune essence mining area. Another thing I find annoying about bots is that they bring my hiscores rank down in mining and woodcutting. :(

Forced "MM9" style (which isn't even exclusive to him or invented by him) training because of no bots is not a positive thing in my opinion. Train however you like, I don't care. BUT it is an extremely inefficient way of training.

But I don't have much of a for/against opinion on botting. Now that they're at large again, everything is so cheap so I like that. They're like Walmart and such but no where near as bad as Walmart so I guess I can't automatically be against bots.

It may be inefficient, but I think it's a good model of how Jagex intended for the game to be played. If there were no bots, I'd do it more like that, too.

I have gotten pretty cynical about Jagex's claim to be against botting. When they re-released free trade, they casually stated that they were confident that they had the bot problem under control. I thought that meant they had developed some new technology to make bots impossible. However, as everybody has seen, sometimes it seems like half the players online are botting. Considering the fact that Jagex gets paid for every members bot account, I am starting to think that they are happy with the profits that botting generates for them, and they are just trying to act like they are opposed to it. If a huge percentage of their profits come from botting, maybe they will just stop pretending and incorporate it into the game, and start selling in-game items and gp for real world money. I don't like bots myself, they generate enormous amounts of lag in places where they are populous. But I fear that Jagex is not really serious about preventing them from playing.

Botting should result in immediate perm ban imo. No excuse for it.

Bots suck. Mark even said once that players, and the game, gets less updates because they have to take time to deal with the bots, instead of working to make new features for the actual players.

Pfft, from what I've seen Jagex does next to nothing about botting.

No, the game was not created with any intent on how training would be. They way it was intended was that players would choose how they would play. You would choose your play style, you would choose the skills you train, you would choose the levels you get. If they intended the game to be played like that, there wouldn't be things like mining ore in rimmington, walking to falador to smelt it, walking to Varrock to smith it into armour, and then walking back to Rimmington- it would be A LOT more efficient then that. Maybe since you couldn't bank items at the start... but that's more like they didn't intend for training at all. Which the previous example is kind of about. Doesn't look like they intended skills be trained on the scale that they are in the first place, even if you choose to go it inefficient style. Not to mention resources wouldn't have been tradeable from the start. Had it been intended to train inefficiently.

Just because there are ores you can mine to get mining levels that you can then smith to get smithing levels does not mean it was intended you do both. To get armour you need smithing. To smith you need ore. For ore you need mining. They are there because one is necessary for the other, it doesn't show any intent how they want you to play the game.

Anyways I have love for bots right now because I just did a dungeon. While I was dreading it before beginning, it wasn't so bad. 50K xp on like floor 31 in 25 minutes because 3 of the people in the group were bots doing everything (dieing often too lmao). That's pretty awesome. Lol two of them had 120 dg too and one 200M xp so it's kind of interesting. The whole DG was pretty confusing until realizing they were probably bots lmao.

all this commotion about botting on the forums the past couple weeks, people like them or not, remember it's just a video game, just play it and don't worry about them. I just ignore them, I don't care...

It's hard to ignore them when they are devaluing your stats and ruining the economy >.>

Bots ruin nearly every method that a low level player has to make money. they also make certain training spots and slayer tasks take much longer than they should, due to them overpopulating these spots on many, many worlds. I like low material prices just as much as the next guy, but it just isn't worth it. Bots need to be obliterated.
