Not bad. The only thing I would change, is that the J in Josec is a bit hard to read. Maybe move it over a little to the right.

Its all too monotone. Try and have two main contrasting colours, if you can (try here if you don't know what to do). Also don't make the render too small, because it just leaves too much empty space.

Pretty good for Gimp~! I used to use gimp, used it for about 2 years before I finally got my hands on PS (definitely worth it~)
Just as a start with gimp, it looks good, but you should try looking at some great tutorials on www.gimptalk.com its where I learned everything and overall brought to where I am now, making a career out of Graphic Design. So definitely check it out.
