"An attack sounds like a great idea!" Darkrascal said. She wanted something to dull her boredom.

"What about...?" Lawrence started to ask.

"What of it? We'll still have time." She said.

"All right. Start the attack." He said.

"I don't know. Something tells me that his manners and methods are far different from ours, and he doesn't seem to want to change. It's as if he doesn't want to be respected." Karl 67 replied.

"Which is odd, because being a respectable person gives great advantages in life."

"Doesn't detract from the fact that he's an odd one."

The stranger came back. He had improvised bandaging around his abdomen.

"Round three?" he asked.

"You sure?" Karl 67 asked in response.

"Sure I'm sure."

"With that injury?"

"I've had worse."

Karl looked to the others, who each wore their own faces of either disgust or indifferent expressions. Karl 67 simply shrugged and leaped to the side. The Stranger leaped into the air and stamped on where Karl was just at a split second earlier.

The wound didn't seem to degrade the Stranger's performance. Either that or the stranger wasn't trying before the wound and was trying now. Either way, he was still fast and had power behind his movements. Karl 67 successfully blocked and dodged more and more jabs, swings, and kicks. Karl 67 then responded with his own series of attacks. Before he knew it, the Stranger had Karl 67 in a lock and broke his left arm off.

Karl 67 responded with a swift back kick, which caught the Stranger in the stomach, below the wound. It forced the Stranger back and caused him to drop the splintering arm. Karl 67 quickly sang the arm back onto himself and dodged a jump-kick by the Stranger.

"Jus' occurred to me, but where the heck is Alex and Venos?"

"Now that I think about it, I've no idea."

The Stranger didn't stop, but Karl 67 did notice that the mouth under his chin curled into a frown. Karl 67 shoved two fingers into the Stranger's neck, hoping to hit a pressure point.

"What made yeh think I was human?" He asked as he threw Karl 67 down and curb-stomped a knee. He stepped back to allow Karl 67 to heal himself again, which he did.

"No pressure points, eh?" Karl replied.

"Smart dude." the Stranger said, raising a leg to curb-stomp again.

Karl 67 was too fast for it. He caught the stomp with both his feet and swung both legs behind him as he tipped himself into the air. The Stranger pulled off a split to avoid being thrown, and had both his arms up. Karl 67 was right above him and he couldn't move fast enough.

Karl 67 stomped with both feet, but he was caught by the Stranger's arms. With a flick of both wrists, the Stranger had grasped the crystal Elf's heels.

Another flick of the wrist and both feet were twisted. The Stranger dropped Karl 67 and got onto his feet again. By the time Karl 67 landed, the Stranger was already landing multiple punches into Karl 67's gut and chest.

"Protect your center line! You can live without arms and legs, but not without the body!"

Karl 67 couldn't respond. Any move he did with his arms was slapped aside by the Stranger. One final punch sent Karl 67 into a weapon rack. The splintered wood and raining weapons fell still as Karl 67 lurched up again. He sang his body parts back together again. He saw that the Stranger was performing some breathing exercise.

"What are you anyway?"

"T' be honest, I've no idea. I don't care either way. I'm alive, ain't I? I exist."

"That's all that matters to you."

"More or less."

"Then why are you caring about this war?"

"The Boss needs me here."

"Who's this "Boss" guy?"

"My boss. What did you think?"

Karl shook his head to himself. The Stranger had a sarcastic tone, meaning he didn't want to tell Karl who this "boss" was.

"Another round?" Karl 67 asked.

"Nah. Gotta get this wound fully patched-up. War's probably gonna start soon." the Stranger replied while leaving.

Michael repaired the broken weapons rack while Momsrascal, Karmadin, and Timrak picked up weapons.

Jason walked over to the guards and told them to allow the Stranger access to all lower rank areas, including the Barracks. If the Stranger was to cause problems when he was told he couldn't go to a restricted area they were to inform Him, Skyrate, or Karl immediately.

"He's right, something will start soon. I do not know if it's just a skirmish-battle or the full war. Our enemies in the East are planning something. For their minions to advance upon the rest of Gielinor they would have to either bridge Varrock's remains," Skyrate said

"Which would require an elemental." Michael somewhat abruptly broke in.

Because of the impression everyone had of Skyrate, they assumed he would be quite annoyed at Michael, however, he wasn't. These two were good friends.

"Yes, an Earth, Nature, or Air elemental would be the preferred type." Skyrate continued, "We have one Earth and one Nature here and we know Da Devil would not serve a Dark Lord. As I recall, there were not many elementals made for Gielinor, right Michael?"

Skyrate asking for confirmation? Not even Michael had ever seen Skyrate do that. Either Skyrate's memory was vague on that subject, which everyone doubted, or he wanted the confirmation for their sakes.

"Yea, only around 50 per element. Most of them were killed in the God Wars. Only about 10 or so of each type still remain. All elementals are usually neutral. It's rare when one will fight for the good side, like Elise, I, Da Devil, and our other friends. Only one Elemental has ever sided with evil, Etnol, the Fire Elemental. I and many other elementals were deeded the task of destroying him. This happened near the end of the Fourth age, just after the discovery of runes."

"A fire Elemental could suffice for bridging Varrock but it would take awhile. I do not think they would bridge Varrock. They're going to go through Lumbridge, Draynor, Port Sarim and Rimmington, and then head North up the coast past Falador to Taverly and pass over the mountain to Camelot and the rest of Kandarin." Skyrate said.

"Our enemies in the East are not the only ones to worry about," He continued, "though I think they are the most dangerous. The Demons Momsrascal and Elise intercepted at the Monastery were not Eastern, they were Wildakaatiri, or Northern Demons. Usually the only ones of these type that are found by men are in the deep wilderness. They would not venture south without cause. The same type of demon attacked Edgeville, Falador, and Ardougne."

It was odd that Skyrate would talk so much about the recent events. He was usually quiet and only spoke when he corrected someone or gave advice on matters. Michael had finished fixing the stand and Momsrascal, Karmadin, and Timrak had arranged the weapons on it and sat down to listen and think about what Skyrate was saying.

"The Wildakaatiri," He begun again, "are being led by someone who we know. Momsrascal knows of whom I speak."

All attention was turned to Momsrascal who, after a moment, said, "Lawrence and Darkrascal."

"Yes," He continued, "Not only are they forming ranks with the Wildakaatiri but they are also using the Black Knights. There armies are large and sufficient for conquering cities but little more than that. If we were to get a garrison ready before an attack of their's then we would have little to fear.

The armies in the East are our biggest problem. We do not know what they have. After the Eastern Project we forced them back and had them sign treaties. However those treaties have been broken in the past few months. We've had to send Kailenian soldiers to the Ports of Phasmatys and Burgh de Rott. Our most recent group has not returned. We know the Easterners are capable of fielding an army, however with them weakened from the Eastern Project they shouldn't have enough men to cause much threat, unless they have help..."

"Are you suggesting another scout party to go to the East like in the Eastern Project?" Karmadin asked, somewhat surprised.

"It may be necessary."

"We would need Alex 43 for such a venture."

"He would be a great help, but he seems to be busy elsewhere, an unfortunate turn of events."

People ask me if I'm serious when I write these. I tell them I am. How else could I motivate myself to continue on?

As he moved himself out of the crystal structure, he gazed at the marvel around him. Now that he was no longer riding Venos and actually set foot on the hard, solid ground (it only looked sandy ...), the fact of the nature that this was not just a crystal museum settled in. This was a city, filled with living, intelligent creatures that made it this way. Like lamps, a series of glowing crystals aligned almost a pathway in front of him, which twisted and turned around him without any real direction as to where to go, nor actual road to walk on. All it really was was a guide for the Oocon swimming above them to locate a specific area based on geological patterns and memory, as well as the locations of entrances and doorways for them to enter by. There were indeed windows, or simply holes, in these structures, but none of the Oocon used them. Perhaps by some civility code or simply because they trusted and respected each other that much. Either that, or they simply didn't have anything for them to be stolen from. It was inspiring, and Alex wished he didn't have to lock his possessions up every time he left them alone on the mainland.

The water was very clean, Alex impressively nodded. It was so easy to see in front of him. There was no murkiness, no floating dirt or debris, and not even a sign of algae. Despite being underwater, there was hardly any blurring or blinding refraction, save for the movement of an Oocon disturbing the pattern with a propelling motion of its two lower fin-like slabs of skin, pulled in and out by some thin, transparent muscle. The Oocon themselves, just as impressive. They looked like little red rounded darts shooting here and there at random speeds, aiming to steer away from and avoid hitting targets and obstacles. Looking up, Alex saw the obvious reflection of an entire swarm of them, shooting and overlapping over one another. Alex wondered just what sort of jobs and tasks they did that made them as busy as they were.

Curiosity overwhelming him, Alex left the entrance-way and decided to go explore. Skee would be perhaps the only thing down there that wasn't transparent, so seeing him wouldn't be too hard so long as he kept an eye over at the ... "crystal chapel", he called it. One large crystal building with a nice wide entrance was inviting him in, and so he obliged with hardly any hesitation. Taking a few glances back and convincing himself that Skee wasn't returning in the next few minutes, he made his way over and peered inside.

There were a few Oocon just floating there inside. Some in groups, having their inaudible conversations with each other, some alone almost like secretaries and guides throughout the complex web of caverns that hollowed out the crystal structure. They passed between each other so closely, almost as though they all knew each other. Since there weren't any differences between specific ones, it was impossible to tell the genders of them (or even if they had genders). In fact, they looked so identical that it was impossible to pick a specific one from the majority had his life depended on it. He simply prayed it wouldn't, and after gazing one last look at the chapel's entranceway, he entered the building.

He wasn't pulled around or marveled at as he was when they first entered the city. The Oocon continued to swim around him, almost like he was an obstacle. He doubted they had any eyes, but they still seemed to know he was there and didn't make contact. Curious, Alex took a closer look at some of the stationary Oocon, looking for some telltale symbol or mark of their duties within this particular structure. However, no such mark emerged, and the stationary Oocon ignored him. Either that, or they were staring at him and not afraid to show it. Again, he couldn't tell. Scanning the walls and structure itself for some sort of markings, by scratch-marks, holes, or even some partially invisible dye also turned up fruitless. He was disappointed, but nevertheless intrigued by their ability to know these things regardless.

Suddenly, he did feel a tug. A lone Oocon, slightly smaller then the rest (perhaps signifying it was more younger?), had wrapped one tentacle around his armpit, pulled itself closer and was almost using his metallic plates to relieve itself of a scratch on its side. It rubbed its strange rubbery skin around his cold metal exterior, making a smooth rubbing sound, and Alex lifted his arm slightly so as not to crush it. It still didn't make any sounds, but Alex did almost feel a slight vibration, almost as though it was purring. Perhaps this was how they greeted each other or showed affection and interest. Alex continued to walk around, and the Oocon youth let itself be pulled by its tentacle so as not to lose contact with Alex. It didn't seem to protest the movement, so Alex carried on without hesitation.

Alex peered through the hallways, which twisted and turned up in almost a spiral shape upwards through the structure. Clever. A single hallway ramp moving upwards, and several hollowed out rooms to symbolize ... hovels? Homes? Rooms? Maybe even offices. They had a community down here, no doubt, but one so elaborate as to have a market and government? Alex wondered if they even had currency, because he had not seen any Oocon carry anything around apart from Skee. Maybe they paid in blood or something for services and goods. Gross, but reasonably clever. Alex wondered what they ate, if anything, and automatically assumed them to be carnivores since they didn't have any plant life anywhere around them. If that was the case, though, how was the water so clean and clear?

Alex peered into one of these hovels. The crystal was directly formed around the inside to be somewhat uneven, bulging, and even tight. There was no furniture, no possessions, no traces of food, not even a little bit of decor. Just a few hewn symbols here and there. He could probably picture some of the shapes of the uneven crystal as a possible table or place to set objects on, and the tight areas could even be areas they slept in to prevent themselves from floating away as they rested. Alex had to remember that this was all underwater, so they would have to accommodate to their environment and be ready for and circumstance possible.

A bunch of Oocon suddenly flowed into the structure, shooting towards the hall. Not wanting to stray too far and get caught in this rush-hour mess, Alex decided to hurry back to the entrance of the chapel. His "passenger" followed, apparently enjoying being pulled around. Fortunately, there was still no sign of Skee nor Venos and Macan ready to discipline his carelessness. A little bit of good luck on his part. He started to hurry back.

Unfortunately, there was no sign of any Oocon now.

What was once a large cloud of the sea creatures above him minutes ago became a barren water, showing nothing but the murky waters above. Almost unnoticeably, the crystals around him began to dim, and even the "street lamps", as he called them, literally shut off. Was the city powered by Macan, and his leaving causing all this? And where were all the Oocon now? Probably inside all the crystals. That would explain the sudden flood of them. But what was going on? His carry-on Oocon even stopped rubbing (Alex was thankful for the massage, though wished it was not just the one place) and also looked somewhat concerned. It faced and twisted around in different directions, almost as though trying to sense something. It was also vibrating more intensely, as though frightened, but still would not let go of Alex to join the others in the ... safety of the crystals.

Then he heard it. From experiencing a few minutes of absolute silence, the low-pitched call of something large came as a complete shock. It made easy sense now. Something big was nearby, and judging by the Oocons' reaction to its presence, definitely carnivorous. No doubt despite Venos' warning they had either adapted traits to prevent poisoning or had a different way of feasting. Alex backed towards the entranceway, keeping an eye out for movement. He didn't know where this thing was, let alone what it was, so it had the element of surprise. With the crystal lights dimmed, the water had regained its dark murkiness, and he was almost walking blindly towards sanctuary. Slowly and carefully, with his unrestrained hand, he drew his spear out in front, ready to harpoon anything that came his way. A predator, no doubt. He didn't want to let it have at the Oocon without a fight.

Suddenly, out of nowhere, came this large gaping hole at an extreme speed from straight above! Well, the hole itself didn't seem all that threatening, but the four layers of spear-sharp teeth that accompanied it told Alex that being made of adamantite would make no difference as opposed to being made of rubber should he get caught in between. With it coming at such speeds, Alex's only option was to push off the ground with his spear to propel himself and his carry-on through the water and away from the threat, which collided with the hard rocky ground and quickly swam off in recovery. The creature was much too big to be a shark, but it had a similar, sleek, aerodynamic shape. Alex would've easily called it a variation of shark if it were not for its face being replaced by this gaping, toothy hole. Fins, webbed limbs, a large rudder-like tail, three long protruding tentacles, and a thick hide covered in spikes all mixed together. A shark-leech-squid hybrid? The stuff of nightmares, Alex mused. An underwater beast.

His chief capability, maneuverability, was significantly hindered by the water, so Alex was going to have to rely purely on strategy and timing for this battle. At least it was perhaps safe to say that this creature wasn't made out of stone, because it flinched mighty good when it struck the hard ground. He quickly gazed towards the entrance to the chapel, expecting Venos and Macan to shoot out to see what was happening. But they didn't come, and Alex instead reverted his gaze over towards the hybrid.

As expected, it came at him again, but at more of an angle so that it wouldn't collide with the ground. His comrade finally left his arm and sped off, and Alex pushed himself off the sea-floor, hoping to let the water displacement prevent being sucked in the hole. It half-worked - he was thrown upwards from the movement, but he also collided with the beast's comparatively tough, but sliceable hide, flipping him around several times. One of the creature's tentacles found its way at him, but Alex thought fast and impaled it right down the middle with his spear in mid-spin, resulting in the tentacle being split clean in half. It jerked in pain, throwing Alex offset, but he quickly recovered and brought his spear around for another go. This creature was much too tough and fast for him. He would definitely have to go get help!

But the beast looped around, striking the side of a crystal with its tail for assistance, and shot at Alex again. Vulnerable and unable to move momentarily, Alex thrust his spear lengthwise in front, wedging it into the creatures mouth in between its first set of teeth and impaling its gums.

Holding onto his spear, Alex was taken for a wild ride as the beast swung its head around while moving and bashed it into the nearby crystal structures in an attempt to dislodge it. Unable to last long by this method, Alex took advantage of the movements to get a good foothold on its long, sharp, cone-shaped teeth, waiting for the right moment. Once the beast struck another building, he used the jerky force to push himself right off, taking his spear out with him and away from the beast, which swam away in pain back into the murkiness. He had jabbed it in the gums and decapitated one of its tentacles.

Alex slowly sank towards the ground. A rubbing feel on his shoulder told him his Oocon friend rejoined him. He was now completely out of range of the chapel, as he couldn't see it anymore, but at least he fended the creature off.

"Smart creature." Alex said to the Oocon, not caring if it understood him, "At least he knows when to retreat."

His words were cut short, however, The beast, gums bleeding slightly, shot back at him yet again. Only this time, at higher speed and its mouth was open wider.

"Too smart!" Alex quickly said in surprise. Once his feet touched the ground, he jumped over at the nearby crystal structure and pulled himself and the Oocon up. The great fish veered upwards too fast and early, but the reason for this was to unleash its remaining two tentacles on its underbelly straight at him. His arms momentarily stiff from the hasty climb, Alex couldn't prevent both his legs being wrapped up and yanked upwards, flipping him upside down and up towards the murky waters. The fish tugged Alex towards its mouth, preparing to close its teeth on him, but the Oocon, still gripping his shoulder, was tugging back. A tug-of-war was on, and Alex used this bought time to regain control of his spear and drive it down across one of the beast's tentacles to sever it clean off.

In pain, or for some other reason, it flung Alex and the Oocon down off-set and away from it. They both plummeted back down to the crystal structures, but were nowhere in range to use any of them. Immediately after, the beast shot right back down at a distance and across at him horizontally, using this vulnerability to his advantage. Once again, its mouth was opened much too wide for his spear to save him again. It kept on switching strategies, getting smarter on how to fight them as the battle carried on! Indeed, this was a smart opponent!

Alex didn't have any contact with a wall or ground, and couldn't maneuver in time! This was it! He held his spear in front, willing to sacrifice it to catch onto the beast's teeth to save him again.

Or not? To his surprise, he was suddenly thrusted backwards and up, missing the beast by a full ten feet. It collided with another crystal, surprised at its prey's sudden ability to move through the water. Was this another unexpected magical aid by K?

No, it was the Oocon! It was now gripping him by both armpits and pulling him upwards. Strong little creature, Alex complimented wordlessly. Looking down, Alex noticed the beast had one of its teeth lodged in one of the crystal's window openings and was struggling to pull free. Alex used a hand gesture, pointing to the Oocon's tentacle wrapped around his spear arm while he flexed it. He wanted it to let go of the arm so he could combat against the beast. Instead of letting go, the Oocon lowered itself to Alex's neck-level, poised upright. This Oocon was offering itself to be Alex's maneuverability through the water. He just had to figure out how they could cooperate most effectively.

Taking advantage of their moment's peace, Alex ran his head gently around the Oocon, and came to an interesting discovery. While the upper, mushroom-shaped section and lower dual-fins shielding its underside was soft and fragile, its thinner, cylindrical mid-section was comparatively tougher. Alex looked at his gauntlet and immediately ruled out grabbing it right there, as he would do more scratching and twisting than it would do pulling. Instead, he wrapped his own arm around the ... "torso", he could call it, and held the Oocon like he would hold a gnomeball while charging straight in non-stop for a solo hero-goal. As a result, it unwrapped its tentacles off his shoulders to give him arm movements, and pulled him around without protest or problem. Perfect! He was now ready to combat the great sea menace in style!

Just in time, too. The beast dislodged itself with its one remaining tentacle and rocketed up at them. The Oocon pulled him forth and out of the way as the beast shot back into the murkiness, looping around for another go. Twisting his body properly, Alex directed the Oocon's pulling direction and the duo shot down towards the ground where Alex would have more of a tight-space advantage. He held his spear in front like a lance pointed towards the beast, which shot once again out of the darkness. This time, instead of diving straight for him, it zoomed downwards a distance away and came at him straight along the ground with its mouth closed - it wanted to instead try aiming a crushing move against Alex and the Oocon. Since its mouth was now closed, Alex could see its small, but obvious eyes directed straight towards them. It was not shooting blindly at them this time. This creature was smarter than he thought. No doubt it would have a back-up maneuver should it miss them.

Alex put the Oocon's strength to the test. He jerked it slightly to the side, and his jerking was returned with a sudden high-speed yank to the right. As expected, the beast turned along with them. With the ground and gravity as his leverage, he quickly braked, let go of the Oocon, spun it around with a quick arm movement, grabbed on again, and they both propelled in the opposite direction. As expected, the Beast couldn't maneuver as fast, and it once again missed. But Alex pulled the Oocon up and let go after he was confident enough that it would miss them by inches, and then reached out with his spear with both hands as it came. Its final tentacle came at him to clothesline him, but Alex was too quick. It took the blunt of his attack as it was chopped off right at the base, but Alex wasn't done yet. With every ounce of remaining strength he had, he thrust his spear forward more and made contact with the beast's side as they passed each other, slicing through tough hide, but not exposing any blood or internal damage. Merely a scratch, but it was progress nevertheless, since it no longer had any annoying tentacles. It shot upwards to make another attempt at him in a loop-de-loop, since at its speed, it couldn't spin back around instantly for a quick retaliation without losing control.

Also a clever creature, the Oocon immediately returned to Alex's waist-level horizontally and let him grab it again. The Oocon pulled him down to the crystal structures, attempting to find an area too thin for the beast to reach them now that it no longer had its tentacles to grab them with. It finished its lopp-de-loop and came at them yet again, this time at a frantic speed so as not to lose them. The Oocon pulled fast, but the beast, mouth open, was faster, and the closest thing to a tight area, three large structures grouped together in a triangle, was much too far ahead. They weren't going to make it!

Not unless Alex did something gutsy ...

Risking it all, Alex let go and charged his spear. Majiya-usage underwater was an ability of a far greater level than he could perform, so he would have to stick with his element. The Beast almost upon him, he fired the charge he had and blasted the giant fish in the gaping mouth with a lightning bolt. The surrounding waters came alive with thousands of volts of electricity. Praying the water didn't conduct the energy to his ally, he withheld the bolt into a stream, and attempted to momentarily paralyze the beast with a stream of lightning.

It half-worked. The beast stopped moving, paralyzed. Unfortunately, it was already moving at an extreme speed before the hit, and Alex had to grab onto one of the teeth to stop himself from getting sucked completely in. The twist-around as he was flipped around forced his leg into another tooth in a different set, and Alex felt it sting. But his troubles weren't yet over. The fish was going to crash right into a crystal structure, and if he wasn't going to be crushed upon impact against the crystal, his leg was going to be torn open. What's more, it was closing its mouth, and the surrounding teeth came right at him! Alex braced himself for whatever came next.

*SMASH*

His leg was indeed torn open down to the foot, but if it wasn't for his ally daringly shooting inside the mouth and using the wall and its tentacles to stop his movement, the damage could've brought him to incapacity. As the beast bounced off, still paralyzed, Alex consciously wrapped his arm around the Oocon and it pulled him into the small enclave between the three crystal buildings before it could close its teeth on them both. They were safely in between the crystals, in too small an area for the Beast to have at them, when it quickly and suddenly recovered. It let out a cry again, and started ramming the structures in desperate vengeance.

Alex checked the Oocon, making sure it wasn't too traumatized by his special attack, and found with surprise that it wasn't at all affected. Insulating skin, he thought thankfully as he ran his hand gently down it again. The Oocon squirmed in delight at the action, giving Alex the impression he was tickling it. However, it didn't escape unscathed either. A long cut was drawn down one of its fins, and a small bit of blood was leaking from it with each movement. A sudden *BAM* by the beast brought him back to reality.

Alex paused in thought. With his leg now out, he would have to solely rely on the Oocon to move him around. This beast was much too fast and tough for any direct attacks. How could he slow it down enough to get a real move against it? He couldn't just keep on zapping it, because it recovered too quickly and he didn't know for sure that the Oocon were immunized to lightning. The Oocon were smart - no doubt they had their own method for combatting such a beast on their own if their poison didn't work.

Poison. The sea. Of course! Alex laid out a series of hand gestures, attempting as much as possible to imitate a deep-sea karambwan octopus - one of the most poisonous and deadly sea creatures he knew. He used his fingers to impersonate eight tentacle-like arms while repeatedly flexing his other two to show a slowing heartbeat. For a moment, the Oocon simply stared at him, and the beast smashed at the structures harder and harder. But then, it finally seemed to understand something. It let go of him and prepared to move quickly since the beast would intercept it as soon as it left the cover. Alex would have to distract it. They both already knew how it was going to happen.

In a half-squat due to his incapacitated leg, Alex pointed his spear with both hands at the beast. Once it made another strike at the structures, he would blast it again and hold it for as long as possible while the Oocon retrieved the objective. Indeed it came, striking its hardest ever, and the crystals had suddenly begun to crack around him. Shocked, but not forgetting his task, Alex let loose a blast of lightning and struck the beast with a stream. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw the Oocon take off in the opposite direction at an extreme speed.

Energy and vision leaving him, Alex focused as much as he could on keeping the beast stunned enough for his ally to return. That, and he noticed several transparent red shapes darting back and forth from within the crystal. If the beast broke down those buildings, all those Oocon would be vulnerable! He just couldn't let that happen!

Minutes past, and he continued to shoot energy he never knew he had. He dropped to his knees, steadying his spear with one hand while using the other to keep him propped up on the ground. The beast was wailing again and trying to resist the retainment by slowly getting some distance from Alex. Unfortunately, that meant he would have to use a stronger attack for a greater distance, and the only way he was capable of keeping it stunned was to literally crawl out of the structure and maintain a close distance. He was putting every ounce of faith and trust in his ally now to return before he ran out of energy; something he had never done before with a new unknown species. His life was on that Oocon's tentacles.

Nearly a half-hour had passed, and Alex finally just couldn't hold it any longer. His symbol was pulsing incredibly quickly and he was on the brink of losing consciousness. He saw everything in blurs now, only able to identify the beast as a large dark green mass in a sea of cyan-colored sparks coming from his spear. Losing all strength, his spear dropped and he did too. He saw the green mass shake itself off quickly, trying to get its body back in control. Hand shaking, Alex could only do so much as grip his spear and hold it upwards to at least pose as an obstacle should the beast have at him in a few moment, which it no doubt would.

The green mss shook itself off, fully recovered from the stunning, and let out the low-pitched wail in triumph.

Then it came at him.

It kept on coming at him.

It continued to come at him.

Several crystalline structures suddenly shot in from around him and blocked its charge.

Adrenaline partially reviving him, Alex turned his head around to see his ally returned, one tentacle unwrapping around his good leg. The other one was holding a large green mass of its own, sprawled around like a window crack. Reverting his focus, Alex saw with relief that the Oocon had in fact delivered the requested item, and offered it to him. What's more, the poisonous octopus was even still alive - its deadliest state. There was absolutely no way this could possibly fail. Now to get the beast to swallow it ...

The structures only existing as they were, the beast arced itself over them and had at them again. Alex de-equipped his spear and grabbed the Oocon by the aforementioned style while holding the Karambwan with his other arm in a similar fashion, and they attempted to outrun the beast. As expected, it wasn't going to work, since the beast was just too fast and his ally was just too tired from shooting around for half an hour. Now was the time for anything. Tilting the Oocon upwards and urging it to slightly speed up, Alex got close enough to lightly plant his feet on the beat's front teeth, letting it push them with the Oocon still motoring, and without any second thoughts, pushed the Karambwan down through the forceful water and into the hole that was its mouth. The beast couldn't see all this happening, but it knew it swallowed something, and began to slow down and pull upwards.

He then summoned up some reserve strength and energy and, with his now free hand, drove his spear right into the beast's gums again. It flinched greatly and yanked itself upwards, while at the same time Alex pushed off, missed the lower set of teeth just barely, and the Oocon pulled him over to safety in the midst of another array of crystals.

His arm was shaking from fatigue, and he was afraid he was causing extreme discomfort to his ally. Once they were in safety, Alex let go and slowly dropped to the ground on all fours, unable to stand from incapability and fatigue combined. He de-equipped his spear and looked at the exhausted Oocon with a smiling nod. It did good. They both did. Closing his eyes, Alex began a recovery meditation and the Oocon relaxed for a well-needed rest.

*BAM!*

"You CAN'T be serious!" Alex shouted, not even needing to turn his head around. The beast was back and ramming the crystals with unrestrained force and its wailing! The karambwan did absolutely nothing to slow it down or cause it pain! His ally also spun around him in rage.

*BAM! BAM!*

Continuing to meditate, Alex thought. That was all he could do now. They were in much too fatigued a shape to continue fighting it as they were. Alex could no longer use his lightning, and definitely not his majiya, and he completely didn't trust that a spell-summon would work in a place like this, especially since he had none's power to call. HIs ally was in no shape or status to pull him to safety at the chapel ... wherever it was now, he no longer knew. It was beginning to grow transparent from a loss of blood, and its color had significantly faded.

*BAM! BAM!*

The crystals began to crack. Again, Alex saw the faint, transparent blotches of red signifying Oocon inside the crystals. Whatever he was going to do, he had to do it fast. But he had nothing he could do. He couldn't fight, he couldn't outrun, he couldn't stun, he couldn't poison ...

Potions! Of course! He could just use- wait, where were they? No! Alex recalled the moment upon first entering the air bubble of the chapel, setting his potion bag down to the side to relieve himself of the weight while he explore.

*BAM! BAM! BAM!*

Was there ... really nothing he could do? The structures continued to break; their cracks pulling all around the structure to overwhelm and completely obliterate. There had to be someone to help! Something! Anything!

Alex tensed. There was. Venos (and possibly Macan) was going to have at him if he made it out alive, but if he didn't do it, he wouldn't make it out alive. There really was no choice. He needed help. They all did. And if nobody was going to help him; Venos, Macan, Gia, Karl, Saradomin ... he would have to turn to the one who wanted to.

Tossing aside all potential punishments if Venos found out, Alex brought his staff and spear together and began to call to Saradomin.

To K.

*BAM!*

"Hello, Alex." said a voice. It was faint, but there.

"Hello, K." Alex greeted back. Something about his voice made Alex more relaxed and calm.

"In a bit of trouble, are we?" K asked, almost slyly.

*BAM!*

"Yeah, just a bit." Alex sarcastically said, "I don't suppose I'm still in your favor enough to get a little help?"

He heard almost a chuckle that told him that K was smiling, wherever he was.

"You always will be." K replied, "If I wasn't for you, I never would've been able to stop him."

A pause.

*BAM!*

"Unfortunately, I can't find you right now. How odd."

Alex opened his eyes slightly.

"What do you mean you can't "find" me?" Alex asked.

"There is too much ... interference. There is a different term, but mortals wouldn't understand it."

Alex pondered quickly. Interference? Probably the water ...

*BAM!* The cracks had finished spreading around the crystals. Every so often an Oocon would risk darting out of the structure into another one, but the beast took no heed to them.

Alex thought fast. If the water was preventing good contact, then perhaps if he had a more focused point of interest to break through this "interference" ...

"What if I was to create an anchor for you to divert power to?" Alex asked.

"I expected you to be too much in trouble for that if you had to contact me directly." K said, almost teasingly. Yeah, he knew Alex could sell-summon. What else did he know, though?

*BAM!*

Gah, there's no time to ask.

"I'll manage, I just didn't want to risk it fruitlessly." Alex retaliated. Finally, a god with a good sense of humor ...

*BAM!* Shards flew from the crystals, and the Oocon inside prepared to run. If anything was to happen, it would have to be now.

"Do it and I'll deliver." K said, "Don't even focus on a deity, just do it."

Alex didn't reply. K was already gone. By choice or his own fatigue, it really didn't matter. Alex noted quickly that K's tone of voice in that last sentence seemed a little bit hastened. Something to investigate later. Alex focused. If he could only get out an anchor, he could be saved. Either way, if it didn't work out as intended, he was dead regardless of whether or not he tried it.

Like regular spells, there are two types of spell summons. The attack version of the spell summon was the one he was more familiar and confident with since it was directed upon his target, and whatever it did to the target, at least it wasn't him that it would happen on. However, there is also a defensive version where he applies the anchor internally, in which he puts himself at the mercy of the Gods and whatever they feel like doing to him. It was much more risky, but it also took much less energy since it could be derived directly from his own without needing to directly expose and eject it. As he watched the beast smash at the crystals, crumbling them with every collision, Alex swallowed his pride, silently said his temporary farewells and thanks should things go wrong, and focused the anchor into existence. He called Saradomin's power, since he was the most used to that, but if Saradomin was missing, he knew K would intercept it regardless.

His symbol flashed from the burst of energy, and right after he created it, he was suddenly hit by a blast of light straight from above. His body was thrust upwards slightly; his feet slightly off the ground and floating there. He tingled and vibrated as though he was being electrocuted, but he felt no pain. He felt nothing but sudden, comfortable warmth and as though he was as light as a feather. It was the same sensation he experienced when he was falling during the battle of the Unknown. He slowly moved his arms in front of him to find they were once again glowing a bright white, which spread all the way through his body and even to his ally, who had attempted to grab and pull him back down, thinking he was going to float away. Both of them took in this unknown energy for a moment, enjoying the bliss that accompanied it.

The flash was sudden, and looking up momentarily, Alex saw the beast back away quickly in surprise. Most likely it remembered his lightning attack and wanted to keep its distance until it was gone. The crystal structures were on their last legs, and one more good collision would cause their guaranteed collapse. As suddenly as it started, the energy flow stopped, and Alex suddenly found himself back in control of his body, on his feet, and ready for action. His leg wasn't repaired, but he was strong enough now to use it somewhat. Likewise, his ally also zoomed around him in circles, ready to move him about, once again a rich red color and with its injury healed. The light still lingered on him, but it was beginning to dim.

Finally, Alex thought to himself, it was time to win a fight for once.

Alex drew his spear in front, almost unconsciously wrapping his arm around his glowing Oocon as though they had been doing that all their life. For a moment, Alex's gaze was suddenly reverted to the back of his spear-hand gauntlet, where an eerie yellow light emanated from the whiteness, but he immediately forced himself to focus on the objective. The beast, no longer frightened by the light, prepared for one more charge to finish the fight. Alex turned to the Oocon under his shoulder, nodded, and the both of them rocketed right at the beast in a full head-on charge.

Instinctively, it slowed down and opened its mouth to suck them in, but Alex shot a lightning bolt right down its throat instead. The Oocon yanked him upwards, meeting the top of its head as it closed its mouth and squirmed in pain, and he drove his spear through the top of its head in a slicing motion. Still no blood was exposed, but he was getting deeper now. The beast attempted to turn around, but the duo held their position behind it, spinning around with it while Alex hacked away with his spear, hoping to cause some sort of damage eventually. It tried jerking around in the other direction, but Alex simply flipped the Oocon around in his arm and they went in the other direction.

It suddenly flipped itself over by an arcing motion, and Alex grabbed right onto one of its tentacle stubs. He was blasted in the face by its blood for a moment, but he shook himself off and shoved his spear handle right inside, not using the tip so it wouldn't get stuck. From there, a transfer of electric energy told him the best was definitely not immune to it if he got it from the inside. It vibrated violently, and Alex made a hasty retreat with his spear in hand; the blood washed away in a heartbeat from the moving water.

Greatly annoyed at this attack, the underwater menace shot upwards away from them, and was followed by a series of lightning bolts Alex shot after it. He was rather impressed with K. Saradomin never gave him confidence or capability like this when His power was summoned. Knowing this creature, it was definitely not yet beaten, and was now going to come at him at a speed greater than ever. Confident now that the Oocon were immune to underwater lightning, Alex charged his spear to the maximum, applying almost every bit of power that K granted him. It glowed a bright cyan color, energizing the waters around it.

Alex predicted that it was now throw away all strategy and just come at him once again to tire him out like before. It would come from straight above. Alex had the Oocon lower him to the ground, where he crouched, ready to spring up. A simple lightning bolt wasn't going to be enough for him. Understanding what Alex was about to do, the Oocon left him and swam a safe distance. It was barely holding its glow now, but that was expected. At least its color was back now and its wound healed.

The great underwater beast plummeting down at him, at a speed much greater than anticipated. Its toothy mouth opened extra-wide and ready to close into and impale Alex into 5 pieces. Alex waited for the right moment, crouched with his spear in the best position possible to be thrust upwards.

Time seemed to almost stop.

Almost there ... almost ...

Image

... almost ...

NOW!

Alex sprung up and the beast snapped its mouth closed, colliding with the ground and smashing it into a large crater. For a second, it seemed like the beast had won, but all of the sudden, its tail straightened, inflated, and startingly exploded in a fury of bright sparks, lightning, and burnt fish bits. Straight up out from the mess of blood and roasted parts shot Alex, his spear completely discharged, and himself as well. He majestically sailed upon his triumph, almost like something divine and holy passing judgement upon the incarnation of evil.

His ally quickly zoomed up and pulled him a safe distance to observe his handiwork atop one of the crystals. Despite being underwater, Alex let out a sigh of relief. Finally, FINALLY, he beat something and got the final hit. This had been a horrible week for him until now.

Taking advantage of the moment, Alex looked at his gauntlet. Without his surrounding armor glowing white, the yellow light came out clearly. It took the shape of a symbol: a kite shield, with horizontal and diagonal lines strewn around the middle in the shape of a triangulated dolmen. Below, resting within the triangle and the bottom of the shield, was a circle tall enough to touch both middle lines and bottom, but not thick enough for either sides of the shield. It glowed simultaneously with his own diamond star, which was slowly pulsing from the energy discharge. He showed it to his ally under his arm, and was somewhat surprised to see it was bearing the same symbol on its "cap".

This must be K's symbol, Alex thought. For some reason, it felt so familiar. He knew that some time in the past, he must have known K, but to this extent?

Then, suddenly, came movement. The great underwater beast pulled itself out of the crater and slowly shook itself off, recovering from the blow. Its tail was blown to bits, and the Karambwan poisoning was finally taking effect, but it still didn't appear beaten. After all that, it STILL wasn't giving up?!? It faced Alex and, exposing all four layers of teeth, let out its trademark low-pitched wail. If it was going down, it wanted to at least take Alex down with it. It prepared to make one last desperate charge at him, exploded tail or not, and Alex weakly, but steadily readied his spear while his ally began to move. This was the final joust.

That is, it was, until it was suddenly blasted by an array of grey lightning from a source behind it. Alex smiled, and the Oocon bounced in glee. About time, he thought with relief. At an intense speed, Venos shot from out of the murkiness and rammed the stunned shaking beast to the side, right into a crystal structure, with the grey lightning following it and revealing its source. Blood was forced out of it, creating almost what looked like a dark red explosion. Macan, now clearly visible due to his own glowing onyx symbol and eyes, stopped zapping it and let out its own low-pitched wail, almost as through to communicate with the beast. It struggled against Venos, who had it pinned down with her yellow wings on the structure, while Macan bombarded it with, Alex guessed, a few "choice words". After a moment of "conversing" with the enemy, Alex watched as Venos released the beast and, struggling to keep itself moving straight (let alone staying alive), it darted back into the murkiness and out of sight and mind. It did not return this time.

Momentarily, the three of them just floated there, satisfied by this victory. The Oocon holes up inside the crystal structures came out moments after, and the place was once again populated. Strange, though, how they were just ignoring their heroes and speeding around with their daily lives without paying them heed. It was as though the battle never happened.

Macan gazed in Alex's direction for a second and the Oocon pulled him over. All three of them sank downwards to the ground in a meeting. He released the Oocon, who just didn't seem to want to leave his side. Alex smiled and nodded at them in appreciation and triumph, but the unchanging look on Venos' face said it all. He was in deep trouble.

Then, without a word, Venos had at him. Alex expected it, and took it like a man.

"You called HIM, didn't you?" she roared, with Alex pinned down on the sea floor under its claws, "WHAT DID I TELL YOU ABOUT THAT?!?"

Venos definitely knew. Who couldn't know? The symbol was still glowing on his gauntlet, shining its bright pale yellow light over her right leg as it held him down. No point in lying now.

"Yes, I did!" Alex retorted, "I had no other choice. It was either call him or get eaten and endanger the Oocon race. Where the heck WERE you guys?"

Macan bowed his head slightly.

"Serenity of oxygen-infused crystal structures come at divine consequence." Macan said, "All sound waves diminished. Oocon also cannot converse without their element, resulting in our being blind and deaf to such events."

He then gazed over Alex in a disciplinary fashion. Still emotionless, but instead using the angle of his head to reflect personality.

"Crystals in return provide security, however." Macan continued, "Unprovoked, the Gobonat ignores them and proceeds without a notion for the revelation and consumption of the locals in which it cannot detect. Following their example would have prevented conflict. It was recommended you stayed in the entrance like you were asked to."

He shook his head, at a loss.

"Former situation now; too belated to resolve. Structure damage considerable. Traumatizations imminent."

With that, they both turned away, disappointed in their comrade. Alex just lay there, stunned. Despite Venos being off of him, he felt like the whole weight of the crystal city was bearing down on him, crushing him into a thin metal plate.

After all that, the battle was completely unnecessary, and he did more damage than good from fighting it. His disobeyed Macan, betrayed Venos, sliced his leg open, exposed himself to an unknown power, never really got the final hit, and got several of the Oocon's homes smashed. Not to mention he must have scarred a number of them who were holed up in the ones the beast ... or "Gobonat" smashed up.

"I will never ... ever be able to appease you guys, am I?" Alex asked hopelessly, not really trying to get their attention. He was torn, battered, beaten, and now hated. He should never have let Venos take him with her. He belonged on the warfront. With the Order of the White Star. With Gia ... with the guys that liked him, what he did, and why.

Macan's attention was then diverted to the only one left down there that appeared to still like him. His ally Oocon was zipping back and forth around them aggressively, apparently telling off its mind. Several times Venos even flinched because it came so close to her face. After a while, Venos looked at Alex again with that look in her eyes again. Alex thought she wanted to jump him again now that he almost seemingly created a rebel in his ally, but there was restraint in her eyes. Macan then turned to Alex, almost trying to restrain himself from showing emotion as well.

"This little one ..." Macan said, realizing that Alex couldn't understand their speech, "Acknowledges that what is done is done, and that we should turn to the positive side of this event. That the Gobonat had been defeated, and would most likely decide not to return for retribution. Also ..."

Macan paused, but doesn't change emotion.

"For my duration, I would always fend off predators for them should they cross my path. However, this one had never encountered the Gobonat before like you both had. It fought it with you rather than observe within sanctuary. The battle instilled confidence in it. A type of confidence I had never seen this species develop the whole duration I resided here. Even enough confidence ... "

Macan's eyes narrowed slightly at the Oocon.

"... to tell me off."

Venos almost looked like she barked at the Oocon. It flinched slightly at the expression, but regained its confidence immediately and stood by its beliefs. In fact, what happened there was something that none of them at all expected. Even the emotionless Macan's eyes opened wide in surprise as a result of the event. The Oocon darted right at Venos, spun around her horizontally once at an accelerating speed, and suddenly, without warning, made high-velocity contact, capfirst, against the side of her rocky face. Despite its being made of such a soft fragile material, it was enough to cause her to flinch and drop her jaw open. Alex stared in awe. It did NOT just- ... no, it did.

The Oocon had just slapped Venos across the face.

Satisfied with its action, it darted over to and hovered inches over Alex as though to protect him from Venos. Alex expected some sort of punishment to be inflicted on the both of them, and despite him being ready to receive it, the Oocon wanted to protect Alex from it. It would slap Venos again if she came close. Oh, yes it would.

But Venos and Macan weren't paying attention to either of them now.

Their gaze was averted upwards. Looking up as he lay, the next thing Alex saw was a grand, magnificent sight. Every Oocon he had ever seen in this crystal city and more were just floating there, all around them in a large dome-shaped crowd. Their masses were so thick that they were concealing them from the view of the surrounding waters and crystals, which in turn had returned to their former glow and in turn, caused the Oocon themselves to seemingly glow as well. Their tentacles were joined together in a fence-like fashion; their caps facing in Macan's direction. So many of them, looking at them like this, and the emotion sprawled upon Venos' face (Macan still remained emotionless) told it all. If they were human, they would indeed by applauding Alex's effort for the reasons Macan had already stated. So what if a few crystals got bashed and some Oocons met danger close-hand. They had just witnessed one of their own kind do battle with perhaps their most feared of all the underwater creatures.

Alex felt it. Passion. Finally, after all that, he received some good commendation for his actions. It made him feel better than any amount of melted adamantite could. His ally offered him one of its tentacles, and he gripped it, allowing it to pull him back upright. He momentarily stumbled on his bad leg, but pulled himself up quickly.

Never had victory felt so wonderful.

"I appear to have misjudged my hypothesis of the public opinion." Macan said, admitting defeat as he gazed around emotionlessly, "Potentially the satisfaction of proclaimed victory inspires to an extent greater than ordinary motivation. Assertiveness, not tribulation."

Venos was still angry, but had to admit that despite the damage, Alex had done some good here.

"I will go back to the chapel with Macan." Venos said to Alex, "I advise you spend a little time out here so I can cool down. Nevertheless, don't take too long. No doubt your friend is on his way back."

That's right! Skee was still due for recovery! Alex ran off in the direction opposite to the two retreating dragons. The Oocon had all parted and returned to their schedules, and Alex ran (or rather, skipped on his good leg) nearly half a kilometer before realizing that ... who was he kidding? He had no idea where to go! Since the fight started, he had been lost in this city of countless crystals, thrown around, pulled about, yanked, tossed, rammed, and ultimately cast into. It was impossible to get any more lost now than he was.

At the same time, though, he really didn't want to follow Venos and Macan back, because that would simply be revealing a need for them. While he felt that he did, he just didn't want to show it. Pride is a painful, but well-worthwhile thing. Soon, though, he will show himself to be as worthy as they are, and earn their respect once more.

He then noticed his ally was followed him, apparently reluctant in exercising its own freedoms. It seems he had made a new friend down here. Or a pet, he didn't know what to call it. Taking advantage, Alex wordlessly attempted to hand-signal it to return to where it found him. Unfortunately, he couldn't understand these hand gestures. After watching himself do it for a moment, neither could he. He laughed at himself for trying it.

Never mind, he'll find his own way. The walk though the city would give Venos time to cool off.

"Thanks for your help." Alex said to the Oocon. It didn't move.

"Really, thanks. You've been a great help." Alex said, nodding. It still didn't move.

"You can go now if you want. I don't need your help anymore. I'm fine now."

It still didn't move. Alex took a few steps away from it, and it followed. He tried running for a moment, but it had no trouble catching up. He tried hand gestures, pointing at it, then the crystals, then waving. It still didn't leave his side. It was like having a three year old child follow him around. One that looked like a fat crossbow bolt ...

"You can leave now! Go on! Your family must be worried about you!" Alex tried. Didn't work.

Finally, he decided to just give up. It can follow him all it wants, he didn't really care anymore. Shrugging, he started walking when his foot caught the ripped metal protruding from his slashed leg. He tumbled down in a trip, but was quickly grabbed by the hand with the Oocon's tentacle in mid-trip.

"Careful!"

"Ah, thanks." Alex said, unlatching his foot. How humiliating.

Then ...

"Who said that?!?" Alex blurted out, looking around.

"Who said THAT?!?"

He let go of his ally and spun around, trying to get a visual. He knew for a fact he didn't just hear things. A voice, one he had never heard before, had just emanated from an unknown source around him, and he was determined to find it. His ally also searched around, apparently hearing something too. At least that confirmed he didn't imagine it.

"Show yourself!" Alex called, reaching around for his spear. A feeling of satisfaction crossed him momentarily - after all that, against Macan and the beat, his spear wasn't even damaged a bit. Yay. Drawing it, he scanned around the murkiness, searching for something. A movement, a representation, something out of place. But there was nothing but his ally, the crystals, and the swarm of Oocon above him.

Wait a minute ... could it be?

Alex reverted his gaze to the Oocon, who was doing the same thing. At least, he assumed their pointing their caps at a slight diagonal angle towards something meant gazing at it.

"Did you just ..." Alex asked. It continued to gaze at him, unperplexed. They held a staring contest for a while, in which neither of them heard anything from each other. He heard a voice, and this Oocon was the only thing around. Alex called out to it, but it didn't respond, saying things like "Don't try to trick me ..." and "I know it was you ...". If he didn't know any better, he could say the Oocon was probably trying to say the exact same thing. But neither of them heard each other.

Alex suddenly had a thought. He de-equipped his spear and slowly held out his spear-hand towards the Oocon, which repeated the notion with a tentacle.

They made contact. Its wrapped around his.

"... my name is Alex 43." Alex said, unable to think of anything else to say.

"... hello, Alex 43. My name is Koyl. Nice to meet you." said the voice. Young, fluid, and too high-pitched to tell what gender it was.

Wow! As the voice spoke, the Oocon moved about slightly in partial conjunction to it. This WAS the Oocon talking to him! But how? Macan could converse with them without touching them or making a sound, and yet he spoke and heard words as they were. It wasn't the Oocon's voice speaking out, but it seemed to resonate from it. Almost as though it was surfacing as a memory at that one moment.

"Nice to meet you too." Alex replied, stepping closer so they could both relax their arms.

"You ... cannot hear us, and we cannot hear you." Koyl said, "But now, I can!"

"I ... don't understand it either." Alex said, puzzled, "All of the sudden I can speak Oocon when I touch you."

"... is that what the Great One calls us? 'Oocon'? How silly!"

Alex chuckled to himself. Now that he thought of it, it really was a rather silly name. Since Macan was the only one able there, and to speak his language, it was a name he gave to them.

"Thanks for sticking up for me back there." Alex said, thankful he could finally at least give his thanks.

"I should not have had to." it replied, "You are a hero to us all. You helped to defeat a nightmare far greater than yourself and us. If we could do what the Great One could, than we would no longer have to rely on his protection."

A thought crossed Alex's mind. Seriously?

"You ... don't like Macan- the Great One?" he asked.

The Oocon moved closer until cap and visor were almost touching, almost as though it wanted to lower its voice.

"Do not tell him. He does not think it." Koyl said, "He is too ... selfish and static, if those words work for you like they do with us."

Strangely enough, they did. Even being able to understand them, Alex expected them to almost have a whole different format of words as part of their long-term, self-developed form of communication. It was strange that not only did it use proper words now, but they had the same relevant meaning. Perhaps they weren't directly communicating to each other by actual words, but transmitting relative thoughts to each other. Either way, something was translating them.

"You are not liked by them, it seems." Koyl continued, "Yet you seem very similar to them. Why is that?"

Alex sighed. Where to begin? He wanted to summarize everything he knew for this Oocon, but more for himself, just to get his thoughts straight now.

"I am the same as them." he said after a moment's pause, "The three of us are a team. Brothers, even. But a while ago, I had lost all memory of our alliance and everything beforehand."

They began walking, hand in tentacle. It almost seemed like a date, but no onlooker would think they were in love or anything.

"From what I've been able to piece together, there was a conflict of some kind. I messed something up, and because of it, my memory was wiped. Almost a century later, we were bombarded by a creature who calls himself the God of the Universe or something like that."

Strange. He wanted to say "unknown", but "universe" came out. Was this the translator working its magic? Or just a mispronunciation on his part?

"Apparently, during this conflict," Alex continued, "It was supposed to have received a payment of some kind. Because of my mistake, it never got it, and the world was getting torn apart as a result. After meeting Venos entirely by coincidence, he- sorry, she, myself, and a friend of mine fought against the God, and momentarily defeated it."

Koyl was very interested.

"You defeated a God?"

"It seemed like it, but I knew it really wasn't trying." Alex said, sheepishly, "Anyways, the fight had bought us some time to pull together another payment, so Venos took me down here to reunite with our third comrade. With Macan, the three of us are going to find our lord Sartranomin ... or Saradomin, as I call him, and arrange another payment to appease the Unknown and save the world. Then, after ..."

Alex spoke with desire.

"I will finally learn about my past. What I had done, and what I was like before losing my memory."

Koyl floated closer passionately, making contact with the side of his head.

"I imagine that you must have been a hero back then too." it said, too passionately for comfort.

"Forgive me if this is personal," Alex unconsciously said, not wanting to start a real relationship, "But what gender are you?"

"... gender?" Koyl asked, pausing once again.

"You know ..." Alex tried to be non-explicit, "Who bears the young? Who hunts for food?"

Koyl just floated there, and Alex found he was almost pulling it now.

"... you directly multiply?" Alex asked.

"Yes." Koyl said.

"Ah, then you're an asexual species. You reproduce without ... influence from another?" Alex concluded.

He heard a sound in his head from Koyl that he could only assume was the result of it's believing that he had said something completely stupid. It was just passion and respect that made it like him, not desire. He almost wanted to hit his head on something.

"Forget it. I was just curious. I wanted to learn more about your race. That's how I am." Alex said apologetically.

"I understand." Koyl said reassuringly, "And I would like to learn more about yours too. More about the Great One."

Alex relaxed. Koyl was massaging him again.

"I am a ... zoologist." Koyl explained. Once again, the word didn't correspond with its motion, and Alex once again assumed there was some sort of translator in effect.

"Unfortunately, I think I get too caught up in my work. I forget about the thoughts of a being, their freedoms, their rights, and in some cases ..."

The Oocon slightly jerked upwards, towards the murkiness, now partially hidden once again by the Oocon swarm.

"My own health."

That would explain its unexpected interest the first time they met. When the Oocon inside the building and around the city paid him no need, this one just couldn't keep off of him. It even helped to explain why it didn't retreat with the others while Alex moved towards the entrance to the chapel. In fact, it should've warned him, and pulled him away to safety before they were engaged in combat. No matter. As Macan said, it was a past event now.

Speaking of ...

"I can't believe you just decked Venos in the face." Alex said.

"I had thought it would be softer than crystal." Koyl said, vibrating a bit, "But it wasn't. But I do not care."

Hearing something, it twisted around.

"Ah, your friend approaches." Koyl perked up, intrigued.

Alex looked with fascination. The sight alone pulled a huge weight off his chest. There was a group of Oocon escorting Skee over towards him, and Skee was moving independent of them. He wasn't used to moving underwater, and he was too buoyant to stay underwater, so his escort had to keep him pulled down. The oxygen vial was gone, no doubt spent, but Skee was able to switch his breathing method in time to prevent drowning. The Oocon blood treatment apparently worked. He was still bandaged; if anything, more tightly and securely, and there were even traces of certain types of adhesive or medical plant life tucked in. Alex and Koyl dashed over.

"Zzzzbloogaa bloogg ..." Skee tried to say, but was muffled by the water. A thin series of bubbles came out of his partially marked proboscis.

"I'm glad to see you're OK, too." Alex said, literally hugging the scabarite. Carefully, of course. Koyl let go of Alex and conversed with the Oocon escort momentarily while Alex quickly examined their handiwork.

"Alex, I would like you to try something." Koyl said, rejoining him, "See if you can converse with them the same way you can converse with me."

"Might as well." Alex said. He let go of Koyl again and had another Oocon replace it. Its tentacle squeezed around his hand, almost down to the wrist. All eyes (or senses) were on them.

"My name is Alex 43." Alex said, as though talking to Koyl.

There was a long pause. The Oocon said or did nothing. It didn't even react to his voice and gestures.

"... say something. Think something. Do something!" Alex called in desperation. He didn't want another mystery on his hands.

Alas, the Oocon didn't respond, and instead let go in disappointment. Alex immediately thrust his hand to Koyl, and they joined.

"You can still hear me, right?" Alex asked.

"Perfectly." Koyl said, in wonder.

They conversed with each other again. Still in contact with each other, Alex heard Koyl say something about "Odd circumstances", "Unexplainable phenomenon,", and "Don't be jealous.". Maybe Macan did teach them a few things.

"Sorry to interrupt, but I want to chat with Skee, but we can't do that unless we're either over the surface of the water, or inside Mac- the Great One's place."

"But what about the one that hates you? "Venos", you called it?" Koyl warned.

"We'll ... stay on the other side of the room." Alex said, shrugging. He really wanted to explain things to Skee, as he had gone unconscious from inside a cavern and woke up under the ocean. Also, now that he was conscious again, they had to decide on some way to get him back home.

"Let us go, then." Koyl said, more to the others than Alex, "To the Temple of Living Crystals!"

They all moved up into the swarm and though the great mess. No wonder they liked it up there, Alex thought, there were high-speed currents pulling them everywhere! Alex witnessed moving underwater at speeds he had never gone before, even during the battle or on Gia. Or, maybe it was just all the many thousands of Oocon shooting past him, moving the other way. Either way, it was sensational, and before he knew it, he was at the entrance to the temple and moving right up the shaft.

Whatever came next, thought Alex, at least it was a step forward. A step in the right direction. He casually glanced at his gauntlet, but the symbol had vanished. However, he could still easily picture it there perfectly in his mind.

Now, if only he could remember where he had seen it before ...

Summary of what just happened (oh thank goodness?):
- Alex befriends one of the Oocon, who appears to like massaging him.
- Alex took on a great, underwater predator.
- Alex discovers the Oocon's impressive strength and ability to transport objects, including himself.
- An intense battle commences, but Alex gets crippled and loses all his energy. Their only choice is to hide, but that puts the Oocon race in danger.
- Alex, in desperation, calls K again for help, fully aware that Venos would have at him if she found out Alex betrayed her wishes.
- K grants Alex and the Oocon power, but also puts an unknown mark on his gauntlet.
- Using this power, Alex brings the beast down to its last legs, where it is finished off by the late arrival of Venos and Macan.
- Venos, spotting the symbol on Alex's gauntlet, has at him, and Macan disciplines Alex for provoking an unnecessary conflict and traumatizing the Oocon race.
- However, the Oocon race instead celebrate Alex as a hero, instilling courage and confidence against such creatures.
- Venos, who now hates Alex's guts, returns to the chapel with Macan. Alex runs off to search for Skee, but becomes lost.
- Alex suddenly discovers his Oocon ally, named "Koyl", and himself can communicate by touch - an ability only the both of them have, but not with any other Oocon.
- Alex reunites with the now restored and conscious Skee, and the lot of them return to the underwater chapel to reunite with Venos and Macan and decide what to do next.

Karl 67 had all four of his blaze elf crystals re-vamped into better equipment for the upcoming war. A spear, a shield, a second sword, and a dagger. He had them all holstered securely on his back and belt. He continued practicing with each and every equipment piece in every combination possible. Any kind of battle, he'd be set.

... Unless the battles were primarily ranged or magic-heavy. That's the only disadvantage Karl 67 had. The Stranger would probably have that same weakness.

They're both close quarters specialists. He's not sure about the Stranger, but Karl 67 is utterly useless any other range apart from close-up. He makes up for it in his speed and agility, allowing him to traverse great distances in short times. No-doubt the Stranger would have that as well.

Which makes Karl wonder: Is this Stranger a sort of clone? There was no way. They had nothing in common save for their combat skills, and the Stranger is superior. After all, he beat Karl 67 multiple times while he beat him once with a stab to the chest, which the Stranger semi-shrugged off.

Just what is he capable of? He'll have to find out when the war begins.

"Annoying little creature, unfortunately I'm not allowed to have the pleasure of killing him...yet." The cloaked man atop the balcony spoke to himself while observing the couple walk out of the room.

"To a Portal room." He said, referring to the couple's destination, "I' best be off."

Tower of the Star
______________________________________

The same Lieutenant from before hastily walked into the Armory, almost running into the group of heroes coming out.

"Sir, this is not our week." He said.

Skyrate, Jason, and Karl 67 looked at each other, they knew what the Lieutenant was about to say.

"The beacon in Lumbridge has been set off, but it's still alive. A message was sent saying that they saw billows of smoke rise from the village of Draynor and the port city of Sarim." The Lieutenant said.

"We know," Jason said, "Get 10 Star Knights ready to command a troop of 10 Elduvian Knights each. Have them teleport to Lumbridge as soon as each troop is ready. We'll go ahead."

"Yes, Sir." The Lieutenant said and dashed off.

"We'll meet you in the fields." Skyrate said as he and Timrak faded away.

"Ordinarily I'd go to the Mage Armory, but since that's a few rooms away, may we borrow some runes, Elise?" Jason asked, turning to the young mage.

Elise already had enough runes out for all them. If there was something she was good at it was magic, and she always had runes. She handed some to Momsrascal and tossed the others to Jason, Karmadin, Gia, and-wait, where'd he go? Karl 67 had run out the door right after Skyrate and Timrak left.

"No thanks, Elise, just look for a moving mound of dirt." Michael said and then jogged out into the courtyard.

They teleported.

------------------

"You wanted a fight, it's here."

"You want to fight me again?

Karl knew the Stranger knew what he was talking about.

"I take it you still use runes for quick travel?" Karl said, tossing a set of Law, Air, and Earth runes to him.

"It's a simple form of travel." He replied, instantly catching them. Their duel certainly hadn't affected the Stranger's dexterity much - if at all.

"Time to do some real fighting." The Stranger said with a chuckle as he swirled away in magic, Karl followed after.

Lumbridge - Duke's Castle
______________________________________

The Courtyard looked like someone had just stuck their hand in a bee hive, or maybe it was more like an ant mound. People were running around hurriedly. Most were running for the sanctuary of the castle, but some seemed to be too shocked to mind.

"Go to behind the castle, boost the guard's morale as much as possible and wait for the army to reach you. Our men will arrive soon." Jason shouted over the commotion to Gia, who passed it on to Momsrascal and Elise.

Elise held Momsrascal's hand as Gia led them behind the castle. The crowds were mainly in front of the castle and in the courtyard, not behind it where they needed to get to. When they reached the back of the castle they saw what looked like an endless army of black heading towards them. They could hear something like metal clanging from the distance in that direction. When they looked around they saw a total of three guards.

"Come on guys! We just have to stay here and wait for help, it's coming soon!" Elise said as she jumped onto a giant mushroom and took out her staff and runes.

A girl? On the battlefield?! Those guards had seen everything now.

Meanwhile, Jason and Karmadin ran into the castle and up the stairs - skipping three at a time. Jason found the Duke still in his room with an advisor and the Father of the Lumbridge church.

"Get everyone inside and below. Put them in the Dorgeshuun tunnels if necessary. Do not have anyone on the second floor. The enemy is likely to siege it." He commanded to the Duke and his advisor. Though Jason is technically equal with the Duke in political rankings, the Duke is no fighter and has always obeyed Kailenian rule in battle when necessary.

Karmadin ran to the top of the castle in hopes of finding some archers. His hopes were unfortunately fruitless. One guard with a bow and five farmers with hunting bows stood there.

"I'm going to talk with Jason about this place after this." He thought to himself.

"You five, head down to the cellar with your wives and children. You, head to the gates below to help those guards with the people." He commanded them, they eagerly obeyed. He then jumped nimbly off the castle roof onto the back wall of the castle and landing right behind Elise.

Karl 67 and the Stranger appeared in the southern part of the courtyard where it was not so crowded. An odd place for the teleport to place them, maybe the magic wouldn't let them land in a now extremely congested area.

They quickly ran, both moving twice as fast as a man, to the back of the castle and jumped the wall in one leap.

"Not bad."

"Not bad yourself."

The Stranger looked around. He saw the three guards, the same little girl as was in the Star Room except she was now wielding a staff and standing on a mushroom, the Cat-like woman, the Elven ranger, and the wingless White Dragon.

"This is what we get to defend this stone pile?" He said referring to the group and the castle, "Shall we make this interesting? I'll keep track of how many I sunder and you keep count of how many you sunder.

Karl 67 wasn't all that thrilled about beating the Stranger in how many he killed. He was mainly focused on keeping the town safe. He and the Stranger walked out fifty feet from the rest and stood watching the army advance. The Stranger was just barely staying still. Karl 67 drew his Blaze Elf Crystal sword, he would doing a bit of...metal working this hour.

By the time Jason got out of the castle, due to complications and the crowd, the first two troops of Star Knights and Elduvian Knights had arrived. He led them around to the back and out the back door to join the others.

"Once a few more arrive we'll charge." He said to Elise, Momsrascal, Gia, and the Knights. He told the Lumrbidge guards to go inside and only open the door when more Knights had arrived.

"I can't wait to get my hands on that little..." Momsrascal muttered to herself, referring to her Shadow copy Darkrascal.

Everybody paused for a moment as they saw a large demon fall in the middle of the advancement. Everyone except a few Elduvian Knights and the Stranger knew why.

Elise heard a voice on the wind, "You should stay there. If the enemy gets to close to the castle then erect a wall. You know how.

A giant humanoid arose from the ground in the middle of the front advancement, sending black knights and lesser demons falling on top of each other. It appeared to be fifteen feet tall, from what they could see. Most of them had seen this figure in the last War. The golem whacked a lesser demon, sending it flying into another, Greater, demon which pushed it aside. The Greater Demon engaged the golem in combat briefly which ended with its head being smashed by the golem's large hands.

Their friends in the advancement were definitely helping, but it was not stopping the advancement. No body assumed they would, they were there to slow down the advancement, not stop it...yet. Once a few more Knight's came to Lumbridge they would all start destroying the enemy army, and that would stop it.

EDIT: For those of you who read this before, you may've noticed that I didn't mention Gia teleporting to Lumbridge. I'm sorry, Alex, that I forgot him. I'll try to make sure to remember everybody from now on (I'm not sure why I forgot Gia, I might've been preoccupied when I was writing). I've added him in.

"I didn't think there would be much opposition." Lawrence said.

"Well I'll be damned if we lose before causing some major trouble!" Darkrascal exclaimed.

"It seems my parents have taken a bigger bite than they can swallow..." Their daughter, Kate, said.

"Nobody asked you!" Her mother said annoyed. "Well... Look who it is!" She said observing Momsrascal.

Meanwhile...
--------------

Momsrascal could see Darkrascal. She saw her staring straight at her with a smug look.

"Is... Is she wearing my locket!? Oh no, she isn't!" She said annoyed.

"Keep yourself calm." Elise said.

"You're right." Momsrascal said drawing her swords.

"Yo, crystal dude."

"Name's Karl."

"Whatever you say, dude."

"What is it?"

"Why are we waiting?"

"We're waiting for the rest of the Star troops to arrive."

"I'm known for many things. Patience is not one of them."

"Funny. The complete opposite applies with me."

Karl 67 knew that the Stranger would simply bound off. He wanted to gauge the Stranger's ability before charging into the fray himself.

The Stranger zipped underneath the Golem's left arm and threw a punch. A black knight was attempting to slash at the Golem's leg. Unfortunately, the force behind the punch flattened the helmet, causing a graphic splash as the corpse of the knight was thrown backwards. While the Golem concentrated on the demons, the Stranger took down anyone and everyone around the golem.

Karl 67 knew the Stranger was fast, but he didn't know he'd be fast enough to protect the golem from lower attacks single-handedly against an advance army. Even more surprising is that the Golem has yet to be hit.

The crystal elf got his sword out and bounded into the fray as well. If the Stranger was serious about a contest, Karl 67 would have to pick up the pace.

"How many?" Karl 67 asked as he made his first and second kills: a stab through a Black Knight's visor and a back-breaking thrust-kick into another.

"Uh... forty-one, two..."

"It's only been a minute."

"I know. These guys don't get to this golem fast enough."

Karl 67 subdivided another Black Knight into eighths, and then insultingly kicked the pieces at a Greater Demon. Aggravated, the Demon lunged at the crystal elf, who jumped on his arms and shoved his sword through its neck, killing it instantly.

"Black Knights worth one. Lessers worth two, Greaters worth three?" Karl 67 then saw that the Stranger ripped out a Greater Demon's spine through its stomach.

"If that were the case, I'd probably be at a hundred or so." the Stranger cackled as he kicked the spine-less demon onto another Black Knight, then stamping on the demon, crushing said knight.

"Okay, how about if the score applies to me?"

"Sounds fair to me."

"You're brutal, you know that?" Karl 67 said, referring to the Stranger's two recent kills.

"It's required. I needed some form of stress relief seeing as Venos isn't here."

"What do you know about her?"

"Nothing. Just needed to bring that message to her. She'll no-doubt return here at one point."

"But she's nowhere to be found." Karl finished.

"Exactly. 'Been wondering what the Boss would say."

Karl 67 soon found that the advance force was starting to keep their distance. The Stranger was repeatedly jabbing a Black Knight through his armor. A dented, immobile hulk was all that was left.

"How many now?"

"Eh... lost count 'round ninety-eight. How 'bout you?"

"I made eighty-two kills. I decided not to go for the score."

"Okay, I think we should get back. This will no-doubt cause those sissies to wet themselves." the Stranger laughed as he took a couple of steps away from the recent massacre. "By the way, I'm wonderin' how they got these guys. I would guess the obvious, but it doesn't seem like his kind of work."

Two more troops had arrived, making 40 Elduvian Knights and 4 Star Knights in total.

"The rest will be along shortly, Sir." The Commander of the Fourth troop said with a salute to Jason.

"Good. We can start attacking the enemy advancement now. Unfortunately I'm still too wounded from my escapade in Canafis. Gia, would you mind leading the charge?" Jason said.

Gia pulled his large Rithlyte sword from its sheath, "Nope."

Momsrascal drew her swords, "Ready."

Shooting a fire wave into the oncoming army Elise said, "Ready here."

Karmadin drew five arrows from his left shoulder quiver and fitted them to his string and gave a slight nod.

Ordinarily he may have Alex on him or Alex may randomly jump on and off him during combat. Since Alex was not here and because Gia knew Elise was a powerful mage, he asked her if she wanted to ride him, "Elise, would you like to ride me into battle?"

"Wow...", She said with the awe that only a child has, "That would be awesome!"

Gia single handedly lifted her up and placed her on his back. She situated herself into the saddle.

"I'll stay here and send the Knights in as they come. If the enemy gets too close I'll fight." Jason said. He still had the Scaarz-Got and he now had his crystal shield. However he was only wearing a chain shirt and still felt pain from his shield arm and back.

--

The enemy army had retreated slightly after the Stranger's and Karl's little competition. The golem continued to follow the army, stomping black knights and smashing demons. There was still no physical sign of Skyrate or Timrak, however many black knights and demons fell down for no apparent reason.

And then, rather all of a sudden, the army started advancing again.

--

As the Stranger turned around after running half way back to the castle, he saw the army advancing again.

"Honestly, don't these guys know when they've been punished?" He said.

"Obviously not." Karl 67 remarked, looking towards the castle to see the readied charge.

"Time for more discipline!" The stranger said as he shot off towards the advancing army again, this time twice as fast as when he had hopped the castle wall.

If it wasn't for his elven eyes, Karl 67 might not have seen a black knight sheared completely in half as the Stranger ran through it. Two more black knights found themselves decapitated when the stranger put his arms straight out at the Knights' neck level. He finished his charge by landing his feet in the face of a lesser demon, completely breaking its head.

Karl 67 knew the power of a well placed charge rather than a single berserk like the Stranger did. He walked to meet the group who was walking towards him. Gia and Karl 67 exchanged glances and then Gia began the charge.

As the charge grew closer, the black knights readied themselves for an attack by erecting tower shield walls. They didn't expect to be hit from behind by magic.

In her spare time, Elise had tried combining spells. She didn't have this one completely worked out, but she figured a battle was a good place to try it. She cast a fire wave which shot over the heads of the front line of black knights, much to their relief. When it hit the Greater demon behind the black knights it exploded into 36 more fire waves, which shot out in a circular formation. A fire wave hit each of the black knights which had readied to defend against the charge. Taken off guard by the fire wave, the knights were helpless to defend against the charge.

The first charge made excellent progress in destroying the army. In just seconds over a hundred black knights and lesser demons had been killed by 44 Knights and 5 heroes. The enemy death toll rose rapidly as the defenders continued to fight. Gia did better than he had thought with Elise on his back. More than once had she stunned a Black demon just in time to stop an attack, Gia quickly followed her move up with a swing from his sword, which most times severed the demon in two.

Momsrascal wasn't fighting just for Lumbridge, she was trying to get to the back where she knew her nemesis would be, Darkrascal. She wanted to kill Darkrascal for many reasons, but mainly to get her Grandfather's locket back.

Karl 67 wasn't having any problems until he met a Black demon which must've been a general or other commanding officer. He wasn't able to 'get the drop' on this one like usual. After a few moments Karl 67 strategically got the demon to get its claws stuck in a large oak for a second. A second was all he needed though, for once the demon had its guard down Karl 67 rolled under it, jumped on its back, and decapitated it. From there he jumped to the top of another demon and did the same thing. This strategy was working quite well until a dumb demon swung at Karl 67 while he was still standing on another demon. He jumped off just in time to be missed, consequently the demon hit the other demon, which of course made it angry.

Karmadin had released his five arrows into the face and eyes of a Greater demon when he reached the army. He then had to draw his longsword to block a swing from a black knight. For much of the battle he wielded his bow in his left hand, usually with an arrow ready, and his longsword in his right. When he could he would fire his bow, sometimes killing an opponent right before it hit him.

Two more groups of Knights charged at the enemy advancement which had continued to press onward.

The Stranger heard a sword swing right behind his head. As he turned around he saw a Black Knight fall down to his left, its head went to the right. He saw a very faint shadow of a cloaked man, he assumed it was the silent one from the Tower who seemed unafraid and undisturbed by any of his tactics. The faint shadow soon disappeared completely.

Momsrascal caught glimpses of a cloaked man while fighting her way to the back. She sensed something powerful about him, but she was then snapped back into focus by a greater demon, which she decapitated.

Lawrence saw the cloaked man too.

"What is he up to?" He quietly wondered.

"Hmm?" Darkrascal asked.

"That cloaked man has been appearing wherever I am... Do you think he's watching me?" He pondered.

"Maybe..." She said.

"I don't like nosy people. I'll have at him the next time I see him." He said. Suddenly, someone burst from a wall of black demons. The black demons tackled her only to be blasted away by a blue light.

"Hmph. Come back for this?" Darkrascal asked, holding up a locket.

"That doesn't belong to you. Give it back!" She said in a low tone. Darkrascal opened the locket and the picture of her grandfather was gone.

"Where's the picture of my grandfather!?" She barked.

"Hmm? Oh. It must have fallen out..." Darkrascal said cautiously.

"YOU LOST IT!?" Momsrascal screamed at her.

"Yeah, and...? You're grandfather has been dead for a while now. Get over yourself!" Darkrascal said.

"That's not the point! He was not just any grandparent. He was MY grandfather and he was killed by YOUR ranks!" Momsrascal said angrily. She pointed her swords at Darkrascal. In turn, Darkrascal drew her sword.

"You want it back that badly, you'll have to fight me for it!" Darkrascal exclaimed, putting the locket into her pocket.

I've talked to Momsrascal about this post, and she OK'd it.

Momsrascal knew Lawrence and Darkrascal were both there and would most likely team on her, but that didn't stop her. She charged at Darkrascal who hadn't yet drawn her Dragon two-handed sword. Instead of drawing her sword to block the attack, Darkrascal rolled backwards and out of the way. She then leaped up, sword drawn, and started crashing down on top of Momsrascal. Momsrascal hit Darkrascal's sword away with one of her swords and then swung at Darkrascal's right arm, just barely nicking it as Darkrascal moved it out of the way.

Darkrascal had to roll away to the left again because she hadn't expected Momsrascal to hit her sword instead of block it, like most do.

"Interesting moves, you think some quick thinking will save you from me? Hah!" Darkrascal said as she jumped back onto her feet. Momsrascal hadn't seen that she had picked up a dagger from a nearby fallen knight.

Darkrascal started to run at Momsrascal again, Momsrascal planted her feet and set herself in a defensive stance with her swords crossed. Holding her two-handed sword in her right hand, she through the dagger at Momsrascal with her left hand. Momsrascal deflected the dagger with her right sword and so wasn't able to concentrate on defending from the two-handed strike. Darkrascal's dragon two-handed sword crashed upon Momsrascal's left sword. Thankfully for Momsrascal, Darkrascal had come in at the wrong angle to fully wound her. Darkrascal's sword hit the ground to the left of Momsrascal's head, instead of her shoulder which was Darkrascal's aim.

Momsrascal swung her right sword at Darkrascal's unguarded left shoulder, grazing it. She then kicked Darkrascal off her and jumped up. Darkrascal was just able to recover herself before Momsrascal started swinging both swords rapidly at Darkrascal, who seemed to be just barely blocking them.

In another part of the battlefield...

Michael was right, Elise had to bring up an earthen wall to stop the advance of the enemy army. Even with this and the 4 more troops of Knights that had arrived the battle still wasn't going as well as planned.

Michael finally decided to add to the wall, turning it into a C-shape with the open end of it facing the battle field. Any enemy who was climbing the wall at the time was petrified into it.

Though Karl and the Stranger had stopped the competition, the Stranger had still kept count. He was now over 600. He had continued to guard the golem's legs until the enemy started evading it. This didn't stop him from killing. He started to go after any enemy near him. The only ones which caused him some problem were the Greater Black Demons.

These demons, which are midnight black, are as strong as an iron dragon and taller than a black demon. Usually the stranger had to team up with Karl 67 or the golem to take them down. Karl 67, Skyrate, and the golem (who was Michael) were the only ones who could take one of these demons by themselves. Karl 67 could move too fast for them to get him and his Blaze elf sword cut through their foot thick hide like butter. Because Skyrate was shadowed, the demons couldn't see him, so he was able to get attacks in easily. His katannas' bane powers not only cut through their hide easily, but also made the wound ten times more painful. Michael used the earth beneath the demons to root them into the ground. He would then either use them as punching bags or have the earth constrict their legs until they broke.

The reason the Stranger had trouble with these was because his attacks were physical blunt attacks. He couldn't get through the demon's thick hide. He was sometimes able to get on top of the demon and punch its eyes. This would disable it until another hero came to finish it.

It looked the battle would soon be over, the enemy ranks appeared to be thinning. The last Greater Black Demon had fallen and now only a few Greater and Black demons were left. There were still a few hundred lesser demons and at least a thousand black knights, but those were fairly easy to kill.

Karmadin shot a greater demon in the throat with three arrows before he said, "Is this all their army?" the demon fell down and he nimbly jumped on it and stood on its head.

After taking a fire blast to the eyes a black demon found itself lame as Gia's rithlyte sword sheared its legs off.

Gia said, "I don't know. We've only killed around two thousand."

The enemy started to retreat, was this really the end?

The Karl 67 and the Stranger came over to join Gia, Elise (who was still safely in Gia's saddle), and Karmadin. Karl 67 called the Star Knights and their remaining troops over. The golem in the field melted into the ground and Michael appeared nearby.

"They're retreating, why?" Karmadin asked Michael.

"I don't know. There are still many of them left."

"The Gaardor." A familiar voice said. Skyrate and Timrak appeared nearby.

The Star Knights met the group and said, "We've lost 14 men, sir. 13 Elduvian Knights and 1 Star Knight. 20 others are wounded but only 3 fatally."

"A terrible price, but one that must be paid to save the town." Michael said.

"What's the 'Gaardor'?" Elise asked.

"It is a monster from the 3rd age. It served no god, but fought all. It was a terrible combination of Dragon, Orc, and Demon. It is about as large as one of those Greater Black Demons, but much worse. Instead of skin it has flesh-like scales which regrow. These scales are not as thick as the Greater Black demons so it will be easier to get hits on, but it is much more enduring. Aside from this it has immense strength and breathes fire. It is also immune to fire," Skyrate said, "so you'll want to use water spells, Elise.

The Stranger was impressed, this silent cloaked one seemed to know alot. However the Stranger didn't believe the story of the Gaardor, atleast not until he sees it.

"Yes, your Blaze elf sword will still penetrate its scales and deal damage." Skyrate said to Karl 67 as if he knew what he was thinking. "Your arrows will be useless against its scales," He said, turning to Karmadin, "but you may be able to shoot its eyes or atleast annoy it and give the rest of us some time."

"Commander Conter." Skyrate said, calling one of the Star Knights over.

"Yes, sir." He said with a salute when he came.

"Stay by the wall with the wounded. We'll fight the Gaardor. If we defeat it the enemy will stop attacking. Your men would only get in our way." Skyrate said.

"Yes, sir." Commander Conter said with a salute and ran off to give the orders to the rest.

"Gia, if you can get on its back and use all your strength in one attack on its spine you may be able to cripple it. Michael will try to bind it to the ground to let you get on." Skyrate said.

Up until now nobody had seen the Gaardor, however all except the Stranger believed Skyrate was telling the truth.

They saw a billow of smoke rise from the distance where Draynor used to stand. A large creature which appeared to be walking on two legs was walking towards them. Smoke came from its nostrils as it breathed. It breathed fire on trees and bodies as it walked toward them. As it came closer, everyone could see that it was indeed on two legs, though from the way they were shapped it was obviously used to walking on four also. It carried two weapons, a gigantic sword which looked like an over-sized Dragon two-hander in its right and a black flail with a spiked ball the size of Elise.

"If you let either of those hit you I don't think even our Healers will be able to save you. The sword is Xinz-sheal, the blade of pain. And the flail is Barack-Nordul, the ball of banishment. If a victim survives the initial hit from Xinz-sheal, they will die shortly after from its magically enhanced pain. When hit by Barack-Nordul, the victim's soul is banished to the realm of nothingness. It is nearly impossible to return from that realm." Skyrate warned.

From the looks of those weapons, no one doubted him. This time, not even the Stranger doubted him.

The Gaardor walked to the middle of the battlefield and roared. A roar so hideously screeching yet bellowingly loud, and at the same time fire shot forth into the sky above him from his mouth.

The heroes started to walk towards it. Its roar was a challenge to them.

When they were fifty feet away from it they stopped. They now realized just how tall it really was. Greater Black Demon's are about 35 feet tall, this was taller. It was at least 40 feet tall, maybe a bit more. Michael could enlarge his golem form to 20 feet, but no further without turning into an air titan. To save mobility, Michael instead reduced his size to only 10 feet, instead of 15 like usual.

It roared again, fire shot forth like before.

"Don't let it hit you." Skyrate said, and vanished. Timrak followed.

Michael grew into his golem form.
Elise readied a water spell.
Karmadin drew 5 arrows and fitted them to his string.
Gia held his rithlyte sword in both hands, ready to fight.
Karl 67 took his shield off his back. He hoped it would help if he was hit.
The Stranger just stood there, looking at his 'comrades' getting ready and looking at the Gaardor.

"You guys act as if you've never fought one of these before." He said.

"Have you?" Karl 67 asked.

"Nope, but there's a first for everything!" He said and charged towards the Gaardor.

He was extremely surprised when he found himself upside down looking at the Gaardor and the heroes fighting a few moments later.

He had charged straight at the Gaardor, and since he was its only opponent at the time it focused on him. Luckily for him, the Gaardor had only kicked him away. This was why Skyrate had told everyone what they should do. The Gaardor was so powerful that a few opponents would be destroyed easily, the Stranger got extremely lucky this time. After standing back up, he ran back to the Gaardor. Now he had a score to settle.

The heroes charged right after the Stranger did, hoping that the Stranger's ill-thought charge would be a sufficient decoy. Unfortunately it wasn't, however Skyrate and Timrak's slice across its eyes were. The Gaardor threw its head around, tossing Timrak and Skyrate off.

Michael charged at the Gaardor's chest with all his speed and strength. He knew it wouldn't do any real damage, but it would give the others more time.

As Gia ran under the Gaardor Elise fired off two water waves at its eyes. Both hit but caused minor stun and damage. She then tried to use the earth to bind the Gaardor to the ground. It seemed to work, for the moment. On his charge under the Gaardor, Gia swung at its left leg. He could see some sort of liquid slowly seep out, though it didn't look like any blood he'd ever seen.

Karl 67 ran around the right side and swung at its right leg with his Blaze Elf sword, following it up with a slice from his Blaze Elf shield. Both cuts were sufficient to draw some sort of liquid out which Karl 67 could only guess to be blood. One nice thing about elven crystal is that it's like glass. Even shields which are supposed to be defensive can be offensive. Karl 67's Blaze Elf shield especially had sharp edges, almost as sharp as his sword.

Karmadin had ran up another 20 feet closer to the Gaardor and fired his 5 arrows at its eyes. He did very little damage but stunned it slightly.

Elise's bind was unfortunately not enough. The Gaardor broke the stone and kicked Michael, sending him flying about a hundred feet away.

Had it not been for him being in golem form, Michael probably would be dead. Instead he was only slightly dazed. He sank into the ground.

The Stranger ran up the Gaardor's tail to its head and used most of his strength to punch the Gaardor's head. Unfortunately, all that came from that was a nearly broken hand on the Stranger's part.

Two lines glowed in a criss-cross formation where the Stranger had just hit. When the glow faded, the Stranger saw a blood-like liquid start to seep from the slices. The Stranger assumed it was the cloaked man who knew so much about this monster. It didn't really care, those slices allowed his attacks to do more damage, or atleast stun.

Earth started to creep up the Gaardor's legs, when it had gone up twn feet it start to get thicker all the way around. Karl 67 had just taken a few more swings before the earth started to form around the Gaardor's legs.

Elise looked at the earth, it started to constrict on the Gaardor's legs. Michael wasn't anywhere else, so he must be inside the earth around the Gaardor's legs.

Karl 67 jumped onto the Gaardor's tail and reached out for Gia. Gia grabbed his hand and swung himself up onto the Gaardor's tail. Gia could barely keep his balance on the swinging tail. He had to put his sword away and crawl with all fours up the Gaardor's tail and onto its back in order to stay on.

Skyrate and Timrak swung at the Gaardor's chest, Timrak's sword glanced off but Skyrate's sliced through the scales.

CRRRAACCCKKK!

One of the Gaardor's leg bones had finaly cracked from the constricting of Michael. Either because it was still encased in stone or because the Gaardor was so powerful, it didn't seem affected at all.

Skyrate swung again, making a large slice. Timrak swung at this slice and made it deeper.

Skyrate sheathed both his katannas and called The Blessing of Armadyl to him. He appeared and kneeled, with his sword's point touching the ground and his hands on the end of the hilt.

He was charging it.

Gia stood up on his hind feet and dug into the Gaardor's skin with his hind claws. Sufficiently steadied, he pulled uut his 2-ton Rithlye blade and raised it, ready to swing with all his strength.

The Stranger had been doing repeated punches at the weakened spot on the Gaardor's head. He wasn't able to attack as fast because of his injured hand. He interlocked his fingers to make one large fist and got ready to hit with most of his strength.

Karl 67 had switched from shield to a second sword and started cutting up the Gaardor's back in multiple places.

CRRRAACCCKKK!

Karmadin fired 5 more arrows at the Gaardor's throat, 3 bounced off and two pierced.

Gia brought his sword down on the Gaardor's spine with all his strength.

CRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAACCCCCCKKKKKK!

Gia's sword sunk into the Gaardor's flesh and swiped clean through its spine.

The Gaardor reeled back in immense pain. Even without its spine it seemed to be able to move fine, but it was obviously in extreme pain.

As the Gaardor was reeling backward the Stranger smashed into the Gaardor's head.

CRRRAAAAACCCKKK!

This made the Gaardor almost fall forward, throwing the Stranger off.

As the Gaardor feel forward toward him, Skyrate came out of his kneel and stabbed the Gaardor in the chest with The Blessing of Armadyl where he had swung before.

A bright light shot through the Gaardor, putting Gia off guard because it shot through the hole he had made. Gia fell off the Gaardor and landed on all fours behind it. Karl 67 jumped off the Gaardor as it fell and landed near Gia. Timrak had disappeared right before Skyrate stabbed the Gaardor. Karmadin ran back because he was in the way as the Gaardor fell. The earth around the Gaardor's legs stopped constricting and Michael raised out of the ground near Gia, Elise, and Karl 67. He was now in human form. Timrak reappeared near the group.

The Gaardor fell with a loud, resounding, sound. It landed a foot away from the Stranger.

The Gaardor was defeated, but where was Skyrate?

Where was Momsrascal? She hadn't even been there to fight the Gaardor.

Eastern Port Sarim ruins, near Asgarnian Dungeon

Momsrascal was so focused on killing Darkrascal that she hadn't noticed that she had pushed Darkrascal all the way past the ruined Draynor and Port Sarim.

Suddenly, Darkrascal started to laugh.

"What so funny, hot air?" Momsrascal said sarcastically.

"You've been so foolishly attacking me that you haven't noticed that you're alone. Your friends are back at Lumbridge, try to destroy my minion Gaardor. It will annihilate them soon and you'll be the only one left. But you too will be dead soon." Darkrascal said with confidence.

Momsrascal was about to attack Darkrascal again when she was blast with a fire wave from the side. The blast knocked her weapons away and knocked her down.

Momsrascal looked around to assess the reality of the situation. A small Zamorakian mage was standing to the side with many taller ones behind it. Black Knights now surrounded the whole area. Lawrence, who she thought had stayed back at the battle, was standing behind Darkrascal.

Two Black Knights came over to pick up Momsrascal's swords but were shocked with holy power when they touched them. They fell down, dead.

Darkrascal approached with her two handed sword drawn.

"It is the end for you." She said as she raised her dragon two-handed sword.

Right before Darkrascal was able to deal the killing blow to Momsrascal, she was kicked from the side and a nova of white light spread across the area. All of the Zamorakian mages including the small one fell down, all the black knights did likewise. Momsrascal felt a bit of new energy enter her, she looked for her weapons but they seemed to have disappeared. She stood up and watched the gray cloaked man who had kicked Darkrascal.

The only people who weren't affect by the light nova were Lawrence and maybe Darkrascal. Darkrascal lay on the ground, either dead or unconscious, her sword lay near her.

"It's about time you should up. Now I get to finally kill you. But before I do, why don't you tell me who you are? Since you are going to die anyways it won't affect your reputation of being unknown. You'll go down in history as the unknown man, who died pathetically at the hand of King Lawrence!" Lawrence said.

"I am Tenshi Takahashi!" The man said, and threw his grey cloak off. He was wearing fairly normal clothes, the only odd thing was that they were all white. He had two exotic looking scabbards on his back. From on he drew a katanna.

"I have been sent to watch over you and make sure your plans do not go to far. This time, they have. Gaardor was restricted by the Ancients, no follower of any god was allowed to bring him back. You have disobeyed this and now must pay for it." He said.

--------------

Tenshi is actually Momsrascal's character, but she wanted me to introduce it.

Momsrascal fell to the ground, noticing some deep gashes. She was bleeding rather quickly. She crawled to Darkrascal, getting the locket out of her pocket. She then collasped. Holding the locket tightly, she began to watch the battle between Lawrence and Tenshi unfold as she began to fade from the world.

"So this is how it ends..." She thought as she realised she couldn't possibly get medical treatment in time.

In Lumbridge...
------------------

Elise began to worry.

"Where's Momsrascal?" She asked. Momsrascal was nowhere in sight. She felt uneasy.

"Michael, something isn't right..." She said.

All right, I think it's time for me to toy around with Gia and actually introduce a little threat you can almost literally "play" with.

Gia never felt he could ever fight any sort of enemy all alone. He knew where his weaknesses resided; what his vulnerabilities to battle were. Alex was that little force that darted here and there, stunning and slowing his opposition while he delivered the final low with their guard down. This was how they did it, and it got them up to this point very nicely.

Having a young mage on his back didn't make too much of a difference. Alex would use lightning to stun enemies as well, behaving almost like a turret. However, Elise wasn't in full coordination with Gia like Alex was, so he had to improvise a little bit when an enemy got through the fury of missile attacks Elise threw out around him. He didn't doubt her ability and power, but when he's struggling with an enemy head on, it would definitely help to get a stunning blast than distracted by another enemy being burned to the side. He didn't say anything, though. Since Alex wasn't here, he was lucky enough to even have a support like this.

The enemy was in retreat. A momentary victory for them. Either that, or a regrouping. Gia didn't doubt that they definitely had a fall-back plan, despite then not thinking that such a small force could oppose them so well. They stood their ground, impatient, just raring to see what was coming next. FOr a while, there was a moment's silence. Karl and the stranger said something to each other, but Gia wasn't listening.

Then came footsteps.

Loud, hard, earth-shattering footsteps.

"Ohh no ..." GIa said, his eye fixated on a spot on the horizon.

Then it came. A challenge, even for Gia. Nearly three stories tall and toting armor thicker than his sword's blade came a Grand Demon - a demon elite and master of the brutal art. A fully-attached plate mail and legs exposed naught but its face to reveal its color: fire. In one hand; a mace stained with blood splatters rather than drips. In the other hand; an equally bloody sword that looked like he made it with his teeth (its teeth looking like they made the sword). It's been through a comparatively fair share of battling, it appeared, and wanted nothing more than to show off its strength by smashing people flat under its large, flat-clawed feet, swinging its giant, weight-tipped tail through artillery, and driving that great mace down and through the keep itself.

Gia fought one of them before. Along with Alex and Dex in several years past, within a large underground structure in an attempt to spare the western forests a burning agony. Even with Dex's ability, Alex's leadership, and Gia's muscle, it was a long and dangerous fight - picking up several scarring wounds and memories from the experience. To finally end the battle, Dex had to collapse the entire cavern over him and literally bury him alive under the sheer weight of nearly a mile of Earth.

This one, however, wasn't like that. It was overground, unconfined, and without the threat of a Dex-In-A-Bad-Mood. Even with the army, with Karl, the stranger, their heroes, and their troops, Gia felt a sense of loneliness creeping on him. He even felt Elite tightening her pull on his harness. No Alex to stun the great creature, no Dex to pretty much take control of its own weapons ... this one will be a challenge.

Then again, things were usually easier when done a second time.

"I'll handle the big one." GIa called to his allies in forced anticipation. He heard the stranger mutter to himself and Karl groan in disappointment.

"Ok, fine, you guys can help a BIT." he surrendered in good humor, "I just don't have a spatula on me, that's all." When faced with a great threat like this, sometimes that was all one had left.

It stepped in the River Lum. Steam evaporated around its footstep. It was there now, and in range. Time to fight.

Gia made his presence known by leaping over the advancing knights in a scattered formation and went straight at the Grand, Elise holding back a scream of terror. Gia flipped his sword around and sunk into a challenging battle-stance, his word upright and ready to impale something. As expected, the demon answered with a swing of its sword, to which Gia intercepted with his own. Both great swords clashes with such force that a shcokwave penetrated the air around them, and Gia held the sword up with both claws and partially bent legs. A magnificent show of strength, watching this comparatively small White Dragon hold up such a large, heavy sword away from chopping him in two.

Of course, the Grand had two weapons, and once it saw Gia block the sword, he swung down the mace with it. To dodge, Gia tilted and slammed his sword to the ground along with the Grand's and leapt to the left, letting the mace smash the ground with his sword in between both weapons. With the demon hunched over from the weight, Gia let loose with a fury of lightning breath right in its face, which it didn't take invulnerably. It reared back, yanking out both weapons with it, and Gia jumped to retrieve his sword, which was still sticking out of the ground.

Elise shot a flurry of water right at the demon's head engulfing its upper body in steam. However, it rose up through the mist, seemingly unhindered by the attack. Around them, the knights and demons alike charged in, not daring to get in between this great heavy-weight fight.

"Watch for projectiles." Gia warned Elise, who reacted with a magic barrier technique. The demon swung again with both weapons at once. Gia reacted.

And now, back to Alex!

_____________________________________

Skee coughed some water out and breathed stale, but breathable air. His backpack was lying right there where he left it, and without a moments pause, split an energy potion between the both of them. Never had one of them taste so good.

"Thank-kz, Green Bolt." he said. It was nice to hear his voice once again.

Macan was sitting up there, waiting for him to meet them. At the other end of the room, Venos just gazed upon the crystal wall. She was still seemed, and didn't want to acknowledge Alex's entering the room.

"Your actions have been prematurely executed." Macan said, towering over him but making eye contact simultaneously, "But your mind's previously stored information is unavailable. You do not remember yourself, nor our cause. This being said, your actions therefore are explainable and I shall not punish through might and mind. In fact ..."

Macan bowed to him, eyes partially closed.

"You have earned a bit of my respect." he said, "You think outside the hypothetical box all too well, and it is to be respected."

Macan's head turned slightly to the back of the room.

"However, I dare say our sister does not share a similar conclusion. Stand without concern, though. She is always short-tempered."

Skee leaned over to whisper to Alex, clutching his bandages as he did this.

"Another dragon c-creature? What iz happening?" he asked.

Of course. It was impolite not to introduce everyone.

"Skee, this is Macan. He's my ... brother?" Alex asked.

"We have been created in the same method by a similar source." Macan said, "So yes, brotherhood is an accurate declaration."

"Yes, brother and ancient guardian of the underwater Oocon. And Macan, this is my friend, Skee, who is part of the underground Scabaras Tribe of the Kharidian Desert."

Skee had to beam. Alex made it sound impressive.

"Interesting to encounter an unknown variety of creature." Macan praised Skee, looking him over, "I would like to exercise my curiosity towards you."

He turned to Alex.

"But there exist other events that require immediate attention, and priorities will be shifted to account for this."

"Lay it on me." Alex said, retrieving a hammer from his pack and beginning to hammer at his injured leg, "What's the plan?"

Skee watched with envy. If only it only took a hammer to fix himself up ...

"I shall in eventual time, but beforehand, there is some information I desire." Macan said.

"What is it?" Alex asked, hitting away without pause.

"I want to know about this "K". Your opinion and belief regarding his existence." Macan said.

He wanted to hear both sides of the story. Clearly, Venos hated him, but Alex had more of a positive interest towards this unknown entity. He wanted to hear both sides before drawing a conclusion as to what he should think.

"Well, I can tell Venos this all I want, but she'll never agree with me:" Alex said, "But I really don't think K is an enemy. In fact, for some reason, I feel he is and will continue to be our greatest ally throughout this war and conflict."

Macan tilted his head in curiosity, "Explain your insight."

Alex tore at the plate leg with the edge of the hammer to realign the metal for a proper hammering.

"Well, all he had done so far was beneficial to us. If not, then me." Alex explained, "He impersonated Itchlarin when Saradomin was inaccessible and told me what I needed to know without drawing suspicion to himself as an enemy. I think he did it just so I would listen to him and come to see him as an ally. When Venos and I fought out of misunderstanding, I cast a spell-summon against her, and K responded when nobody else would with an attack unlike I had ever seen before."

"She did mention experiencing a critical condition after the impact. Something she had never felt before." Macan said, nodding.

"During the fight with the Unknown, he saved me and gave me power to fight against the Unknown with. Same with the ... whatever you called that creature."

"It was a Gobonat, but that is merely a name I gave it." Macan admitted.

"Yeah, that." Alex nodded, "And, on the way here, I tried contacting him, and he assured me that Saradomin would return in a few days unharmed and available for questioning. Well, he didn't DIRECTLY say it like that, but he suggested it. ... I dunno, I feel like he really is an ally. One I have fought with once."

Alex looked at Macan.

"Does any of this sound familiar? Did I fight with an unknown entity a while ago? Or alongside one?"

Macan closed his eyes and pondered for a moment. An odd humming sound came out of his closed mouth.

"Full of lies and deception! Why else would it appear so friendly?" Venos called, failing to control the anger in her voice.

Macan ignored her. After a moment, he opened his eyes and gazed at Alex.

"No, this is no instance to which I recall of such an occurrence." Macan said, "Now that I recall such events past, it seems altogether unlikely that you did since I don't recall such a moment. We have been together for very well our entire lives up until the "task". And even that ..."

"Task?" Alex asked, momentarily pausing his hammering. Skee listened intently, but Macan turned to him.

"Would you permit a privatized conversation between us?" he asked Skee.

"Yez, I will." Skee said, bowing and plunging back into the pool to sick down to the entranceway.

Macan started humming again. He knew that Alex had lost his memory up to and possibly past that point, so he would have to figure out a way to explain it in a believable manner.

"Back then, you were our psychic." Macan said, "We would devise plans and ideas, and you would, quite literally, sleep on it. An envisionment would come to you, and you would inform us of the potential results should we carry on with the plan."

"Wait, what?" Alex asked, "You're saying these dreams are not coincidental occurrences, but an ability of mine?"

"Correct. Not one hundred percent reliable, but very effective nevertheless. Ninety-five percent of the time you pulled through for us."

"And the other five percent?"

"It wasn't your fault, but that doesn't really matter." Macan said, "The point is, you had the job of foretelling success in our actions as well as support."

Alex thought about that. He purposely had those envisionments just to help Venos and Macan carry out their own tasks.

"Our task ... THE task ..." Macan explained, "Was to retrieve the payment for the Unknown. It was a job set for the three of us to perform, each of us with out appointed tasks and efforts towards it. Sartranomin appointed each of us to perform accordingly and without question, as we usually did."

Macan nodded. If it was Venos talking, she would have been smiling.

"But this was the first time you had an envisionment of what exactly to do rather than the result itself. Peculiar, but beneficial, since it worked splendidly. Our plan was set in motion, and the results came in fluidly. I supervised the sleeping Guthinatox, or "Guthix" as the mortals call him, who was sent to maintain order and keep the planet intact so that He wouldn't interfere with our plan, and Venos stimulated the war."

"War?" Alex asked. ... supervising the sleeping Guthix and starting a ... wait, did he mean? ...

"But something came over you as a result of the experience." Macan said, the "smile" gone and replaced with concern, despite his not showing either, "You started acting strangely. Almost rebelliously. We had secretly become concerned, so Sartranomin agreed to supervise you and allow you to sit out the task while Venos and I managed the occurrences."

"As far as I knew, the plan went perfectly. Once we had finished acquiring the necessary payment, I woke up Guthix and had him stop the conflict with the agents to save the rest while Venos and I slipped away. The plan was over, and perfectly carried out. But when we got back, Sartranomin had told us you went insane, and as a result ..."

Macan looked over Alex carefully, as though in disbelief he was actually still sitting there. Almost as though he would vanish at any moment.

"He ... had exterminated you."

*CLANG*

"Sa- Sartranomin KILLED me?" Alex shouted, dropping his hammer in surprise resulting in the loud clanging sound echoing throughout the chamber. His own God KILLED him? That didn't sound right on so many levels.

"He did." Macan said, "We were saddened by the loss of our brother, but what's done was done, and we returned to our designated spots to watch the world while on standby. Since then, we had not heard from our Lord. It is usually He that contacts us rather than the opposite. That meant things went very well from then on."

Alex let it settle in. It explained a lot. This was perhaps why he couldn't remember anything. He WAS reincarnated from this Allezyamos. He WAS their long lost brother. "Long lost" now making complete sense.

But there was still something he didn't understand. So many things. The envisionments of the voice-only conversation he had been having, for example. Perhaps this was Allezyamos' spirit trying to tell him something?

"This was why I didn't think you were Allezyamos to begin with." Venos said, making Alex jump. During that conversation, she had approached them, ready to step in if Macan said something she didn't agree with. Now, she was sitting almost behind him; still angry, but very much calmed down.

"You can not completely kill what doesn't have life to begin with." Macan said, "When you were killed, the emptied vessel that held your spirit was banished to Earth, where it would simply become another's life as they all do."

Alex remembered a lesson Dex had taught him about majiya vessels being reused naturally. Made perfect sense.

"Peculiar, though," Macan said, once again in his analytical tone of voice, "That you continue to accumulate close resemblances to him in this new life. Perhaps he does still exist and strives for full rebirth?"

Now it made perfect sense. Those envisionments were from Allezyamos' soul. He wanted Alex to literally become him again.

"As time passes, we shall continue this revelation." Macan said, "But for now, priority."

Alex nodded. That bit of knowledge would have to do him for now. Regaining his hammer, he started hitting at his leg again, trying to force-fuse the split metal into itself.

"Now that the three of us are reunited ... almost ..." Macan said, "We are ready for our next course of action: regaining contact with Sartranomin."

Alex was skeptic, "But K said that Saradomin was-"

Venos lowered into a threatening pose, but Macan used his tail to pull Alex toward him and away from her.

"Yes, he did say that Saradomin would return in a few days. But he failed to mention Sartranomin."

Alex blinked.

"What? I thought Saradomin and Sartranomin were one and the same!"

"Saradomin is Sartranomin's agent." Venos said, "A deity. Nothing more than a puppet towards His will to represent Him as he did his own thing. Saradomin is also Sartranomin's nickname. It's easy to mistaken one for the other."

"... when did this happen?" Alex asked, "When did Sartranomin employ Saradomin?"

"During the Great War." Macan said, "There had to be deities to fight each other to invoke combat against their followers. Sartranomin couldn't very well beat Himself up to-"

"As much as it pains me," Venos interrupted almost intentionally, "I will momentarily believe this impostor when he says the agent will return. With him back, we will learn about Sartranomin's well-being off of Him."

"For now, however," Macan said, getting the idea, "We need to make ourselves directly available to Him. We cannot do this here because of the crystals' influence of the water. We will need to leave the ocean."

"We have been using this method to stay hidden to the Gods." Venos explained, "The crystals provide interference to their detection within the waters and underground soil. This is why the ocean is so well shrouded in mystery."

"Same with the desert." Macan said, more to Venos, "Since it once was ocean as well. Only through forced attempt can direct contact become achieved."

Alex didn't want these revelations to stop. All these answers, all this knowledge! He felt so much lighter now! There was so much less he had to wonder about. So much fewer ideas and assumptions tugging around with his mind, contradicting one another and giving birth to new possibilities. It was good to hear truth at last.

"We will fly to the Solen Mountain." Venos said, "There, unknowest to the mortals, stands a great tower. That will be our meeting spot."

She turned to Macan.

"You have your key?" she asked.

"Naturally safeguarded." Macan replied, "A quick retrieval is required. Excuse my temporary absence."

He proceeded to fly up to the Macan-shaped hole in the ceiling where he resided upon Alex's first meeting. He stuck his body inside, used it to twist the cover open, and it swung open. Inside, encased in a large, solid crystal, resided an orb of a dark orange hue. Macan retrieved it by breaking the crystal with his tail and swallowed the orb whole before leaping down and floating above them before coming to a soft rest onto the ground.

"Where is this ... "Solen" mountain?" Alex asked.

"That is a secret." Venos said, "It is for us to know and you to never tell."

Alex nodded in agreement. He gave one last tap on his leg to finish the repair, and flexed it with ease. Not a perfect job, but he could use it again. Macan huffed to himself in slight awe.

"Fascinating. A beneficial aspect to your humanoid anatomy." he praised curiously. Alex got up, shrugging. Venos only grunted.

The three of them walked over to the pool and jumped in, sicking down to the entranceway. They were on their way once again to a place that Alex had never seen before. For one long moment, Alex embraced that while so much of what he had heard didn't make sense, nor explained every one of his questions, nor was ultimately believable, that he was doing something he loved most. Adventuring. Seeking out unchartered territory and learning of new species, customs, environments, even purposes. The Oocon here resided in their own, hidden community as the healers of the ocean, oblivious to the existence of humans and vice versa.

The Oocon apparently received word that their great one was leaving, and a large mass had gathered around to see them off. Skee was there too; holding onto one of the lamps to prevent himself from floating off with a few Oocon surrounding him. One of them, sensing the trio approaching, rocketed right for Alex and began massaging his shoulders again.

"We hear you are now leaving." Koyl's voice emitted in his mind.

"I'm afraid we are." Alex replied, "As beautiful as this place is, we unfortunately have more important matters to attend to."

"It is understandable. I will miss you. We will." Koyl said, a tone of sadness in its voice.

Koyl then tugged Alex towards Skee, who was apparently trying to hand-gesture to them, but with no success.

"Your friend is trying to tell us something," Koyl said, "But we are unable to understand his movements. Would you please decipher him?"

Alex nodded and approached Skee. He said something, but it was too muffled by the water for Alex to understand, so he started laying out a few hand-gestures. Alex focused deeply, trying to envision almost a picture by them.

"Flowing ... something flowing." Alex thought aloud to Skee, "Like water, or sand."

With "sand", Skee pointed and nodded, and then reverted to another series of gestures. Alex was playing a game of charades with his friend now.

"Sand ... a sandy something ..." Alex said, "An object, being held- no, an opening."

Skee reacted, moving his hands as though egging Alex on with that idea.

"A sandy hole. Cave. A sandy cave- desert cave. Underground- your home cave! You want to go home!"

Skee clapped. That didn't take long at all to figure out.

"Skee wishes to return to the surface and go home." Alex told Koyl, "I doubt Venos is in the mood for a round-trip, however. Can I trust you guys to get him home?"

Koyl was only too happy to agree to his request.

"I don't know how well you guys know the ocean, though." Alex assumed, "It is quite a distance from our homeland."

"I am sure we will manage." Koyl replied confidently, "We know the ocean more than you think. We just choose to remain hidden in the depths, that is all."

"He lives in an underground network beneath a large desert." Alex explained, hoping to clue them in, "There is a swampland to the [he attempted to say "east", but something indecipherable came out of his mouth; Koyl understood it regardless] of it, which connects it to the ocean. It resides on the [another substitution for "south"] of a large landmass."

While Alex was talking, Koyl was facing another Oocon and apparently relaying this information to it. However, they still didn't know where he was talking about.

"Hmm ..." Alex pondered. How could he describe a land to something that doesn't leave the ocean waters?

"You know what [strangely enough, they also had a substitution word for "dagannoth"] are? Yes, I guess you do."

"There is only one place we know where to find them." Koyl replied, "And we stay away from there. Much too cold."

"Yeah, that sounds about right." Alex said, "Well, that is the ["middle-north"] part of the mainland. The much bigger landmass. You want to go to the ["southeastern"] end of that. The other side altogether."

Koyl engaged in an apparent back-and-forth with the others, making Alex repeat a few instructions with some more description, like nearby marine life and material composition. However, they quickly agreed that they knew where he was talking about, and got together an escort for Skee to be sent back home.

"I described Gielinor as best as I could." Alex told Skee, "They know it's far, but they assured me the journey is easily possible."

Skee nodded. He reached out one of his right hands, and Alex shook it.

"I may be gone for a long time ... or not even return at all." Alex said, "I'll miss you."

Skee nodded again. This was a farewell. He was to continue his journey with Venos and Macan, and Skee was to go home with the Oocon to wherever they think he belongs. An adventure of his very own, though an unknown territory, towards a destination that might not even be the right place. Ah, but he didn't care anymore. He wanted to be the one who saw it all now. Should he make it home, it would be that much easier to become a scholar with all those experiences under his belt.

"It is time." Macan said from behind. It seemed that nothing will ever make this spirit express soul; it seemed like it was nothing more than simple automation.

Alex nodded, saw off Skee and his Oocon escort, and made contact with Koyl one last time.

"This is goodbye. I'll miss you as well." Alex said.

"Not forever." Koyl said, "I will seek you out wherever you reside. You can count on it. Just keep your feet in the waters, and I will find you."

"Thanks." he replied. Such a touching resolve ... or did it really mean that? Yeah, it did. This wasn't goodbye. They were definitely going to meet again soon.

He left Koyl, jumped onto Macan's back, and the three of them rocketed upwards, away from the crystal city, and through the murky waters towards the surface and back into the air.

Earth rose up around the Grand's legs as it swung at Gia. Both of the Grand's weapons clanged against Gia's Rithlyte blade and a wave of force emanated in a small nova-like shape. Elduvian, Star, and Black Knights alike paused and watched when they heard the noise. Had Gia fallen?

No! Even against the mighty attack of the Grand, Gia stood strong. He held his sword above him, blocking the attack. Even the Grand looked a bit surprised at the White Dragon. It had never found an opponent able to withstand both weapons at once.

Suddenly the Grand released its force upon Gia and reeled back a few steps, shattering the earth that had encased its legs.

Everyone saw a black figure crouched low near the Grand's left ear. It seemed to be able to keep its footing quite easily, and was not swayed by the jolting movements of the Grand.

The Grand swung its head around more, each time it looked as if the figure had wounded it somehow.

The figure disappeared, and the Grand began to regain itself.

This distraction had given Gia sufficient time to regain himself. For though he was able to hold off the Grand's attack, he had not exerted that much strength at once for many, many, years and was temporarily stiffened. The distraction was enough to let full blood circulate to Gia's re-found muscles.

Gia heard a voice near him which he recognized as Skyrate's, "There's three more coming. I'll have to take them with the rest. I trust you can take this one with Elise?"

Gia answered with a nod, but didn't turn, he had to keep his eyes on the Grand who was about to attack again.

Skyrate appeared in the center of the remaining heroes.

"There's 3 more Grand Demons on their way. We've got about 2 minutes before they're here. Karmadin, Karl 67, Michael, and Timrak, you'll have to fight one of them. Gia and Elise will continue to fight this one. I can handle one by myself." Turning to the Stranger he said, "You may deal with the last one your way."

The Stranger stood still, listening to him. He remembered this man called Skyrate from somewhere, but he couldn't place where. It didn't matter right now, he thought, he finally gets to fight a big one by himself.

Skyrate disappeared again, as was his trademark action, and Karmadin, Karl 67, Michael, and Timrak fought their way through the oncoming black knights and lesser demons to where the three Grands would come from. The Stranger dashed passed them through the black knights, dismembering many as he went.

---

Skyrate appeared next to Jason at the back gate of Lumbridge castle. He relayed the current standings to Jason and asked him to send for a group of 'SF' from the Tower. He then disappeared again. Jason promptly obeyed and went to the Beacon in the castle to send the information to the Tower.

Darkrascal rose up, leaning on her sword for a moment as she regained her strength.

"Now, I'll finally be rid of you!" She raised her sword above her head to strike the faint Momsrascal but was surprised to see Momsrascal's body fade.

"Hmmph, oh well. Atleast she's gone for good. Now, about him..." She said, turning to the man in white who claimed to be Tenshi.

Tenshi and Lawrence had been fighting for a minute now, and they hadn't wasted any of it. Lawrence already had a slight cut on his lower left leg and had drawn his second katanna because of this. Tenshi, however, still fought with only one.

"Want some help, dear?" Darkrascal said to Lawrence as she charged at Tenshi.

Tenshi, somewhat surprised that Darkrascal was back up so quickly, dodged the attack by side stepping and hit Darkrascal on the back of her neck as she ran past him. This caused her to roll into Lawrence. They were both up in a moment after a few short words to each other.

"Since you're working together I'll have to remove you both." Tenshi said, drawing his second katannna.

They both charged him, Lawrence swinging his katannas and Darkrascal with her dragon sword poised for a crushing attack. Tenshi blocked Lawrence's two katannas with one attack, dodged Darkrascal's, and slid through the two of them and knocked them both on the back with the hilts of his blades.

"You'll need more than mere strength for me." He said confidently.

----

Two cloaked figures appeared a few yards away from where Momsrascal fell.

"Now we get her's. Their power will be sufficient to test It."

The speaker walked over to a puddle and reached down. Jolts of holy energy shot up his arm but he seemed unhindered. He held up Momsrascal's two swords and then both figures disappeared, taking the swords with them.
