As the world itself seems to be in love with this game and I've despised it since i first played it i thought I'd give it another chance and restart over, get a new character and begin again.

It was actually the second game i bought for the 360, ever, if i remember rightly. I've picked it up and tried to like it several times and failed but that was all on the same character so I'm going to create a new one, a character that isn't a **** god **** vampire.

Now after not playing it since sometime in 07 I'm going to restart and as i know theirs some big fans here I'd like any tips, advise and other such **** you might have. Lets see if i see it in a new lightt.

Good luck. I've personally never played it, but I've heard good things. Maybe I'll rent it and give it a try if you like it in a "new light".

Sorry for not having any tips or advice, but I know a ton of people here will help you out.

go browse to UESP wiki oblivion, tons of info
but biggest tip I can give you: level wisely.
For every 10 skills you level(destruction, blade...), you can get +5 bonus to an attribute (strength, willpower...) as a choice at the level screen. Remember, try to level your secundairy skills first, as it makes you level up (your overall level) slower, but igetting you better attributes. Once you gain a "total level", you can choose 3 attributes to increase. If you level 10 skills concerning intelligence, 10 skills concerning strenght and 10 skills concerning willpower, you can choose to increase those 3 attributes, each by 5.
Ok, this is a crappy explanation, here, read it:

yea but that's just how open ended the elder scrolls series is u can get lost in them if u truly wanted to.

as far as tips : not much to tell other than pick any dungeon u wander past and clear it out of all the loot and xp u can as all the monsters are randomized based on what lvl ur character is at. with the exception of a few of the side-quest boss types tho the are weakened stat wise slightly.

Don't even bother dungeon looting when you're a low level, you're just gonna get a few gold coins and some bread. Try to close a couple Oblivion Gates before starting on the Fighters Guild or Mages Guild, because the leveling process if really dumb. Monsters level with you, so your survival is really up to what equipment you have. Each Oblivion gate gives you an enchantment for a piece of armour, so save your game right at the sigil stone and reload until you get something good (ex. shield 5%, resist magic 15%). Don't go for feather or light and never put an enchantment on your weapon. Weapons run out of magic so you'll spend half your time recharging them and wasting money. Enchantments on armour never run out. Once you have a couple pieces of enchanted armour the rest of the game won't be as hard.

Actually, now that I think of it, the Thieves Guild doesn't require too much fighting, so you could also do that one. You get a good amount of money, a lockpick seller, and good items. The Dark Brotherhood doesn't contain too much fighting, so you can also start there.

Also, having skills such as Acrobatics or Armourer are useful, but won't help you at all in the leveling process. You'll gain levels if these are your major skills and you increase them, causing enemies to level as well, but your other skills such as Blade and Heavy Armour will still be low, so you'll be screwing yourself over. The skills you want as major skills are: Block, Blunt/Blade/Marksman/Hand to Hand, Heavy Armour/Light Armour, Restoration, Destruction, basically the skills that help you with combat. Security and Armourer are incredibly useful at higher levels, but they'll just drag you down as major skills.

I know a lot of what I said is just confusing, but you learn more about the game the more you play. I've been playing TES for over 5 years, I know the system inside and out. So if you ever get stuck or confused just ask.

First of all, you should be ashamed of yourself. Didn't your parents ever teach you that cheating is wrong? It also spoils the game tremendously. :(

And second of all, this is Xbox, there are no cheats.

Firstly Creepy, the best sword you can get while you're a lower level is a katana. Here's the steps to get it.

Right after the game starts, the Emperor and his knights will be ambushed by the Daedric Knights. One of the knights will die, and he or she will drop their katana. That katana can kill a whole hell of a lot faster than any other sword you can get at a low level. Make sure to loot bodies for potions and spell scrolls as you go forward.

So, after you get that katana and finish the dungeon, head outside to Geoffrey, and after you both are done talking, ask him for some help. He'll say "Sure, let me unlock my chest for you." He unlocks this chest, which has a bunch of Steel Armour and weapons. Take only the weapons. The armour sucks, and it slows you down, big time.

Head to Martin, and help him out with all of the Daedra that are infesting the town. Head into the gate, and have your weapon sheathed. You'll be doing a whole hell of a lot of running. Just basically run all the way through it. Don't stop for anything. Make sure that you loot a red and black robe from those guys in the first dungeon with the Emperor. It's a light weighted robe and hood, and you can run quite fast with it on, with your weapon sheathed. If you didn't, just make sure you have a potion or two, and your healing spell is up.

Also, one last thing, make sure that once you do all that, make sure you go and level yourself up. I'm sure you know how the level up system works, so I won't explain it.

Another piece of advice, MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT GO DUNGEON CRAWLING UNTIL YOU'RE AT LEAST LEVEL 6, WITH A GOOD HEALING SPELL. Most dungeons at a low level hold monsters that are too powerful to kill.

Just stick with the main quest, and do the other guilds too. They offer pretty cool rewards.
