Is it true that the 20 and 60GB ones have more compatibility for PS1/2 games than the 40-80GB ones?

They've brought out and then called back so many versions now I've lost track of whats what. SOME are backwards compatible, some aren't. It will most likely say on the specs when you buy/look up the console.

20GB and 80GB have full backwards compatibility which is hardware based, they support all PS2 and PS1 games. While 80GB is software backwards compatibility based and will play around 80% of PS2 games and all PS1 games without any problems. 40GB isn't backward compatible with any of PS2 games, while it supports all PS1 games. Why would they make a system that is compatible with the oldest version of their video games? Stupid idea tbh

People who had a collection of PS1 games and had their original console broken or either anybody who didn't feel like buying a PS1 and still have to chance to try out some of the games.

AND some people who liked and still like some PS2 and PS1 games and don't want to bring their PS2 with their PS3 all the time lol.
