From Torrentfreak:

Greens EFA, a coalition of two political parties that currently have 42 seats in the European parliament, have launched a pro-filesharing campaign named “I Wouldn’t Steal”. Their goal is to counter the anti-piracy propaganda put forward by the entertainment industry, and encourage people to download and share.

The message put forward by the parties is pretty strong: “Whenever you rent a movie, the multinational media industry forces you to watch their propaganda. They claim that downloading movies is the same as snatching bags, stealing cars or shoplifting. That’s simply not true – making a copy is fundamentally different from stealing.”

-

At long bloody last, some politicians who have sense.

Here's their video:

They are right, too. Making a copy is fundamentally different from stealing. If you were to go into a public place and saw someone carrying a bag you liked, then you made a copy of it, would they care at all? Of course they wouldn't. Copying then selling for profit is wrong, but the act of copying, imo, is not.

What do you think of this?

Yes, I agree. Making them should be allowed, but selling them on shouldn't be. What's wrong with it? Your allowed to download music as long as it isn't shared (as far as I know) so why isn't films the same.

Well you know, my step-grandpa's son does this, he has tons and tons or litterally copied disks, which is not illegal because he doesn't sell them.

I don't have the guts to try anything like that though.

This had made me very happy.

Finally, some politicians who consider "piracy" sharing and not stealing.

An interesting way of looking at things. But, I seldom download films. I live near a really good rental place by my house and it's so much cheaper and more nonsense-free than downloading a copy which might end up to be crap quality in the end. I think that if the film industry realised that people would gladly pay money for their content as long as it were reasonably-priced, then there wouldn't be an issue about piracy.

Honestly buying a movie or album and then letting your friend borrow it is fine, you should be able to do anything with it as long as you aren't selling it on for profit, that just cheats the artist who made it.
I'm fine with downloading songs and movies too, most of my songs on itunes came from limewire, I'm not going to buy a $20 CD so I can listen to one song on it :?
CDS are overpriced imo :(
