So you don't want to prevent future stabbings? It's no big deal until after it happens?

no I just don't think that A 10 yr old should have A felony for that!
in the US if you have A felony you can't vote and its very very hard to get A job rent A house buy A car est and she didn't do any thing that bad!!!!!!!

Wow, talk about misunderstanding of the law here. She almost certainly won't have a felony for that. At worst, a few day's suspension. If she even had a felony, it'd not hold against her when she turned 18.

prolly not, but what happens when a bigger/older kid comes along and takes it from her? expand your arguement please.

and the fact that this happened a few counties away from me is a bit odd...not much happens here usually.

All Juvenile felonies are sealed off at age 18, and thats when they open adult records...so if she got convicted for that...no one would know that when she's 18 however i believe police still has access to sealed records.

Heh. I'm sorry, but to me, that's plain stupid. Confiscate it, fine, give her detention or w/e, be my guest, but to arrest and bloody 10 year old girl, is something that just makes me laugh. You'd think that the school would have better things to worry about. If she threatened someone with it, fine, that's okay to arrest them, but she was cutting a sodding steak. If it was a 16 year old guy with muscles the size of bowling balls, fine, run in the other direction, but it's a ten year old girl, she ian't going to cause harm.

To me, it's plain ridiculous to arrest for that. Christ.

Lol.

It's not like she was handcuffed, fingerprinted, and thrown in jail. The cop picked her up and took her to the station to phone her parents. What else is he supposed to do if a concerned teacher rings him? "Oh, well, she was just cutting her steak.. leave me alone".

Oh, I misunderstood it, when it said arrested, I thought it actually meant arrested, not just taken to the police station and parents called...

The bias, over exaggerating, confusing-to-the-average-person media reporter wins again!

A lot of children are oblivious to potential dangers.

A 10 year old with a sharp blade is a high risk for her and others.
