I was looking at the grand exchange's price values on combat items, whn i noticed something odd. it would appear that the dragon scimitar, an item which can ONLY be purchased on ape atoll after completeing a somewhat difficult quest, and putting forth the effort to actually get to the island, was priced at around 93k, when it can only be purchased for 100k from the ingame store. with prices like this, it makes people less inclined to buy from the store, thus introducing less and less into the game.
i really don't know where i was going with the decreasing amount thing, but when it comes down to it, it is unfair to whomever bought the item to be forced to take a hit when trying to sell it. thus, since jagex will begin dominating prices, and already has with the grand exchange, i think they should secretly adjust some items prices, particularly dragon weapons and items, back to their logical level.
items and thier store prices:
scimitar: 100k
longsword: 100k
mace: 50k
battle axe: 200k
halberd: 325k
square shield: 750k + rare drop.
in my experience, those same items have far different selling prices, and for no reason whatsoever. just greedy people who can't afford them.
actual selling prices:
scimitar: 93k
longsword: 85k
mace: 40k
battle axe: 160k
halberd: 275k
squareshield: as low as 700k
now what the hell is this? all of them sell lower than their cost price. the most rediculous of these are the battleaxe, halberd, and squareshield.
ESPECIALLY the squareshield. not only does it cost 750k in the store, but it also has a rare drop. thus, if i have my math done correctly, a rare dragon drop has a value of negative 50k. what the ****? the rare half should, imo, be at least as valuable as the store bought half, or more. which means it should be worth at least 1.5m as a whole. in addition, every one of these dragon store boughts should be worth at least their store value. after all, for one to go to market, it requireds the store price, + effort to get one
so, although im lame and can only think of dragon weaponry, im sure there are some more examples that could be fixed. i know that if people knew about it, they'd get suspicious of all item changes they didnt' like, and they'd rant and quit and stuff, but i really think JaGEx should make this to preserve item values.
