Does anybody know how Pay By Cash works? Specifically 'Cash: Through the Post'. Do I just put the specified amount of money in coins and bills into an envelope and send it to them? It even has a picture of the cash... I'm not sure if that is indeed safe...

It's fairly simple, I do it.
You go to the subscribe page in runescape, click on pay by cash and then follow the instructions from there.
Basically you mail in the cash/cheque to a location in the U.S. and they contact jagex to tell them that you've payed. They recommend that you pay all in bills but I suppose you can pay with change as well, that would, as Mike mentioned raise the postage cost up from a 93cent stamp to like a one dollar stamp.
I'd say it's safe but it's never 100% safe so..

So by cash, you mean coins included right?

I have to pay like $8.50 Canadian, so I pay a $5 bill, a Loonie, a Toonie, and 2 quarters, and that will be safe?

I'm sorry I'm dummying down the question so much but I want to be 100% sure...

They don't recommend you send actual cash because it could get stolen in the mail. If you put coins in it will cost you extra postage I think as well.

What I did the first time I got members was I went to the post office and got a "money order", then sent that. It's kind of like a cheque but the post office handles it and you can pay in US dollars which is what paybycash accepts.

I know paybycash also accepts Canadian dollars. So ask the post office for a money order? Thanks Mike

I just send in a $10 Dollar bill every time. Another risk with coins is that the letter feels heavier, so you can risk your money being stolen. Although, I don't think the mailman would steal $8.50...
