I figured I'd post the image in the topic since the stock artists I've used don't require me to ask their permission beforehand. Anyway, I got this idea from a competition for a piece of art that fit into Grimm's fairy tales. Since my end result doesn't really reflect any specific story from the collection, I didn't enter it.

Either way, this was really hard to make. It's easy to just slap a picture of a person down onto something. Going through and making a completely new atmosphere is just gah.. this manip is a combination of about 13 photos-- enough said.

C/C, if you want to comment on dA, click here. One thing I can say that I'm unhappy about is that the texture is too high an opacity on the sky.

The sandbox was very rarely used by moderators, site owners and admins, it was used by the regular member to have "fun". Flame baiting, spamming or whatever, I think it would have been only fair to ask what everyone else thought first. Regardless of the outcome, it would have been a lot less selfish (because removing it like this is) and would have gotten a much better response.

It looks nice, but it needs depth.

Look at the rooftops of the houses. They merge with the ocean. Use a soft burn brush on the ocean touching the houses. Then try to use a VERY light blur tool (starting at the rooftops) and work your way up, getting less blurred the closer you get to the lighthouse.
-or-
You can make the houses darker and blur them some. Just depends on what you want to be the center of the peice.

Other than that it's perfect. It just needs depth ;)

Well, when you look at something the things you're not looking at become blurred. That's partially what gives makes life 3D. In your picture everything is the exact same sharpness. It looks like you basically just threw it all together, instead of looking like a real snapshot.

It's mainly where the ocean and houses meet, though. They just look like they're on the same plain.

Forgive me, I'm not trying to be rude..but I still don't get what you mean. When I look at something, the things surrounding it aren't blurred O.o The houses and water ARE technically on the same plane as well (the plane being the ground). I don't understand how I'm supposed to use a soft brush to make things blurry or what.. If you like, you can illustrate what you mean on the image.
