As I described to Bluebrisingr, I'm in argument withdrawal. Therefore, I decided I'd post a topic we could debate/argue over. Plus, as MOTV said in the sandbox, we ARE getting boring.

The war in the middle east. Do you think troops should get out of there, do you think we should put more force in the area, do you think we should take a different course of action? Discuss everything going on there in this thread.

I think we really have messed things up enough there. It's a turbulent area, but if we ever leave there will most likely be some sort of civil war. Pakistan is also quite unstable at this point.

Pull out. Wont ever fix it till we do. civil war, let them fight it out between themselves save ourselves the money, save our troops and distance ourselves as much as possible from them.

We might of caused the mess but we can't fix it, blame the stupid leadership.

Yeah, this whole imperialistic idea that the west has to spread its influence to countries with completely different ways of life, philosophy, etc is just absurd and destructive. It didn't work when the Soviets tried to make Afghanistan communist, it didn't work for the US when in the Vietnam war, and it's not working today.

Yeah 10 years at war with Afghan's...made the profits fall...and that lead to collapse of Soviet Union...It didn't work before it wont work now...so it wont make any difference if we withdraw or stay here.

Why would we pull them out? What would YOU do? If we pull them out, well get a bad reputation for chickening out, and we'll be called an easy target.

Nuff Said.

Yeah because someone is going to start a nuclear war with the UK and America :?

Seriously though we need to stop the conflict. It is getting us nowhere and all we are doing is losing lives that could've been saved if there wasn't a pointless crap civil war that we are no part of.

We've got a bad reputation. You know those terrorist attacks? That wasn't the east's way of saying thanks it was there way of saying get out. The majority of the world supported the wars when we started them, it seems that's long forgotten now and the majority of the world oddly now claims we should never of gone there.

Funny stuff that.

It's got nothing to do with chickening out either, it's peoples lives at risks i think the PM should be thinking a bit more about that than wither we look like cowards or not.

As for easy target. Loll, not a country in this world that could take this little island without one hell of a fight before hand, no ones willing to wage war on us it'd be far to costly, far to risky and far to many people would die. And while i hugely doubt the Americans would jump to our aid in this so called "alliance" i think them being "allies" with us in the first place is enough to put most off.

My point exactly. If we keep our troops out in the Middle East, we're gonna end up with half an army so that if there is something big thats going to happen, we will have no force. The Eastern War has been dealt with now anyway, all the troops are doing is patrolling the cities and bombing a few helpess civilians.

I wouldn't pull out completely, i would keep 10,000 or so troops in Iraq as a security force just like in South Korea just in case **** hit the fan. I wouldn't pull out of Afghanistan because we haven't found Osman Bin Laden yet, i would put pressure on Pakistan to let us search there side of the mountains for him. My next step would be to open Iraqi airspace for Israel to attack Iran, that would be my next attack.

There are literally so many places OBL could be hiding that unless we get extremely lucky we will never find him.

CIA intelligent reports narrow him down to Pakistan Iraqi border, we cant cross into or bomb Pakistan's side of the mountain.

Bombing doesn't help find anyone. The mountains on the border are so vast and complex. The main reason no-one can find him is that they all know the mountains and the allied troops don't.

True Mq, but i think if Predator Drowns were allowed to Patrol all of the Mountains 24-7 it would better our odds.
