Well, there have always been rumours about a new combat skill, but I'm sure they are just rumours.

A new combat skill might be interesting if the opportunity ever came up though right? What sort of thing do you think it could be? Summoning/Necromancy wouldn't count, as that's magic, neither would any sort of Japanese Ninja Style melee.

I guess the most common suggestion is the Bard type, which would essentially be a 'support' class to increase surrounding player's stats. Personally, I can't stand that idea and think it would be terrible, but at the moment it does seem to be the only "style" of fighting we don;t have.

Thoughts?

-sigh- Personally, I dont think we need another fighting style. Any other style may ruin the entire balance of the game (as unbalanced as it is already lmao.).

Anyway, bad idea. Lets move on to another fun and exciting skill that people will end up getting to 99 in a few hours mmk?

I can't really imagine any other kind of combat skill. I would have said hunting or something with traps.

Too late for that. :P

Yeah, well Hunting was a good skill to add. It was fun and not hard to understand. After that, I dont think there is anything you can allude to the medieval time period about fighting styles/skills.

I think a combat skill would be "reflex". The higher your level, the faster you attack with a weapon and react with your auto-retaliate.

Also, the time frame between how long it takes for you to eat something after you already ate something, and between when you eat something and continue to attack is also shortened, so a level 99 can eat and swiftly resume battle, or even eat in mid-attack.

There's not really much they can do with combat but there are plenty of noncombat skills they can make..

I'd like a resistance skill. Kind of like defense, except instead of reducing the opponents chance to hit, it lightly decreases the ammount of damage done on you. Opponents can still hit their max, just not as much.

Maybe something to do with warlocks?
Dark spells.

Flame baiting, spamming or whatever, I think it would have been only fair to ask what everyone else thought first. Regardless of the outcome, it would have been a lot less selfish (because removing it like this is) and would have gotten a much better response.

A new sort of defence sounds intriguing.
Reflexes sounds like a good idea, although i don't think i'd like a level 99 reflex player to be weilding a dds when we first meet! Ouch!
"Resistance" though, may act as a form of natural defense against magical spells. I assume "Defence" is described as being able to withstand more damage from physical attacks.

( For the sceptics, this thread is purely hypothetical - I have no intention of submitting any ideas in this thread - though I cannot speak for the people who come/came up with them. ^^ )

I'm not quite sure "reflexes" would work, because it'd throw off the balance of the game. You were just talking about the Warrior-style. What about Mages and Rangers? How would they benefit?

Not really, reflexes would mean shorter casting times and faster shots from bows.
Besides, high levels only use melee anyway. XD

edit: Stealth sounds very... WoW-like. Unfortunately, since stealth is often used with Rogue-type combat and Ninjas, I think it would cause an uproar if that happened. :(
Though, saying that, if there is a way you could implement stealth into the game through a means other than "turn invisible to ambush your opponents" then it may work.

I think it's very possible this thread has turned into "What abut a support-type skill?" instead of a new combat type :P

Dead, dead, dead wrong. Most use hybrid styles of mage/warrior or mage/ranger. Not many a pure warrior, mage, or ranger.

I rather just have range and magic effect your combat level just as much as melee, so the top combat level wouldn't be 126.

Or have attack tweaked to make you hit faster the higher your level is as well along with being more accurate.

A kind of defence style in which you only focus defending yourself, and not attacking your opponent may be interesting... but not that useful I think. Unless your doing something where you get attacked, but you don't want to kill anything.
