Firstly, what is the best f2p skill to get cash from? I was considering the mining/smithing duo, is that the best?

Secondly, what is the best way to raise magic in F2P? I have about 600k or so to spend, and want to get the most out of it that I can.

I know I should know this, but have been P2P most of my life, and now don't really have the funds to sub at the moment, so I am F2Ping it for awhile.

Thanks,

Eric

1. Woodcutting is a nice fast money making skill.

2. In F2P I would buy mass amounts of Body runes and just cast them randomly.

with your levels, I'd suggest woodcutting yews would be THE best way to get cash for you, if you don't mind the the bots and macroers

there're occasional spots without any bots in certain worlds if you're lucky
but mostly it's good even with just one or two bots

I'd say the yews northeast of varrock

if you're gona mine, there'll be competition in the mining guild for coal
and I guess you could make steel bars and sell 550-600 each but I really think woodcutting would be better for you unless u wana get up ur mining/smithing levels

I don't know the BEST way to train mage, but you could buy body runes from the stores for like 2-10 gp each, then make/buy the other runes and use curse on some monsters with armor on in a multi combat zone where monsters can't hit you (al kharid scorps, varrock sewers etc)

you could also make/buy air and mind/chaos runes and cast fire strike/fire bolt on white knights in the castle through the "torture room" bar walls
that's how I got my mage levels, but i only needed 59 cuz im pure f2p :(

Thanks for the suggestions so far. I have thought about woodcutting, but as you note, the macroers. I walk by a yew tree, and there are probably 20 level 3's sitting there, and even with 83 woodcutting, I would have a tough time, but I will consider it :).

while F2P, I used to do these things:

1. WC yews south of Melzar Maze (bring telerunes to fala, it might seem like you don't make much money per load, but you'll make money faster than if you go to edge or any other places filled by macroers)
2. Buy coal, mine/buy iron, make steel bars for profit (It's slow cash and smithing exp but its what made me get an awesome smithing level back in the day lol)
3. runecrafting airs might be good but only if you can multiple them, so it might take a lot of time before you really make profit off it (i didn't RC for cash back in the day, i wanted to make my own airs for fala telerunes)

That's about it, hope I helped a bit. I'll add some ideas if I remember any.

Thanks Sephiroth :). I remember the smithing thing, didn't think anybody still used that, and I think I may do that, as I am wanting to get my smithing up to a high level anyways.

Thanks again for all the comments :)

yeah, for money, runecrafting air runes is the best way to do it in freeloaders world.

OMG OMG OMG OMG!!!!

I LEARNED THE SPECIALIST LITTLE SECRET THE OTHER DAY... >.>... <.< ... ^.^ ... v.v ...

ok, as everyone has said, casting curses is the most cost effective exp in the free world, but it is also the same for members =P buy bodies and waters from rune stores. however many bodies you get, get twice as many waters. then get an earth staff. load yourself in full iron armour, or full mage armour, it makes no difference overall, and make your way to varrock castle. you know that random monk of zamorak caged in behind the stairs that you always wondered about when you were a newb? well, i learned his purpose.

this creature is a very unique being. it is the only npc in all of runescape with a defense level of 0. yep, zip, nothing, nadda, kein, nilch, zero. conveniently for you all, that means that its defense cannot be lowered. so if you cast curse on it, and it hits, it takes a milisecond to process the non-decrease in defense and the non-return up to 0 defense, allowing you to immidiately cast curse on it again, even if you just successfully weakened it. =P  \:D/ \:D/  :!: and so on.

the practical upshot if this is that you can sit there and cast curses on him non stop, failed or successful, and thus you will never have to wait for your target to become uncursed or dead, like you would at scorpions or varrock sewer. with about 3 seconds per cast, if you had 10000 casts (i have that many bodies in my bank right now =P), it would take you about 30000 seconds, which is roughly 8 and 1/2 hours to get the 205k exp from those spells, including 10 minutes of error from the occasional successful curse, which stops the next curse from coming, hence losing potentially 3 seconds.

Firstly, what is the best f2p skill to get cash from?
answer: i got my account to lvl 101 and over 6mill from moss giants
what i did was bring about 500 high alches to either karmaja moss giants (find one with 1-2 people, 3 if you can muscle one out)or varrok(find one with not so many people) and whenever you get a black, steel, or mitheral drop(except ax and steel suare) alch it for average of about 450 coins in one setting i can make a good 60k without using all my alches
and a tip about this is never use fire staff becouse you always end up alcying either your wepon or shield and thats a pain lol

Secondly, what is the best way to raise magic in F2P? I have about 600k or so to spend, and want to get the most out of it that I can.

answer:if you want speed than fire bolt lessers
if you want cheap than earth bolt
i got to lvl 72 mage from earth blasting lesser demons and enchanting jewelry from crafting

I know I should know this, but have been P2P most of my life, and now don't really have the funds to sub at the moment, so I am F2Ping it for awhile.

responce: i was f2p for over 2 years i know everything you could ever want to know about it

I wouldn't do mining/smithing because although the armor you can make at high levels is profitable the people to ore ratio is too high for the higher minerals especially coal. Anything at lower levels other than the arrows would be useless except bars and ores. A more better way would be fishing since there are rarly autoers that fish right now. What ever makes you enjoy the game more would be the best choice.

Here's what you do...this method WILL get you money. Just sometimes it might be slower...

1.You can either go to the rune shop in Port Sarim and buy Eye Of Newt and just gather up about 1000 or so and sell them to P2P Players for 150-200ea. There are people that buy them almost all the time. Because you HAVE to raise your herblore level. [This method is slower]

2.You will NEED laws for this. Another simple way to make money is to telegrab Wines Of Zamorak from the Chaos Temple west of Falador. Instead of having to kill all the monks and collect just telegrab it. The wines sell for 1k each to P2P Players.

Either way should get your some easy money...the Wines Of Zamorak method will definately get you more money but will also cost you some in the beginning.

What my f2p friend did to train magic was make tons of air and mind runes. Then take a fire staff and kill lessers demons at the place with the bush to hide behind on Crandor or w/e it's called.

But what did such a Teuton afterwards look like when he had been "improved" and led into a monastery? Like a caricature of a human being, like an abortion: he had become a "sinner," he was in a cage, one had imprisoned him behind nothing but sheer terrifying concepts... There he lay now, sick, miserable, filled with ill-will towards himself; full of hatred for the impulses toward life, full of suspicion of all that was still strong and happy. In short, a "Christian"... - Twighlight of the Idols
