Alrite so I've recently come across a laptop up in my guest room from when a guy stayed at my house. He hasnt been to my house in a few months. So I turned it on. And heres my problem:

It loads fine until it gets to the windows log in screen once its there I cant select any profiles to log into with. Is there any recommendations for what I can do? My sister's husband said I should use the Windows StartUp Disc...which I dont have. If you know any other way tell meh plz :P

Try booting into safe mode. Press F8 before the windows loading screen appears.

Still none of that works...I think I'm just gonna take it to a computer shop or even my school because we have a computer tech. guy there maybe he'll know what else to do. Or even have a Windows XP StartUp Disc

If you want to search what he/she saved on it then remove the HD & copy it (have a tech do it) or just reinstall windows (as it sounds like it's screwed)

Well it still isn't his...if he is just keeping it then by all means do it...but if it still the other guys I wouldn't do it.

How long have you waited when you get to the log in screen? My friend said that his log in doesn't come up for like ten minutes...so let it sit for say 15 minutes then come back and see if the log in has booted yet.
