Nasty Lure Warning.

Okay, I just experienced something a little fishy, but, being skeptical I went through precautions and avoided losing my whip.

A few people may not be scam aware so I took it upon myself to get some information from my "lurer" to find out what exactly he'd tried to do to me.

He'd approched me in Ardougne Bank, and asked me to help with a "maxing video". He said, just bring a whip, and when I get you to about 20hp, I'll give you 800k (800k were 4, noted battleaxes).

It's pretty nasty and I'm not sure whether it's bug abuse or not - but be careful.

(funny thing is, he asked me to stop attacking him since I was owning him XD)

I've heard a lure like that, back when the mystic tops were more expensive than Whips.

I agree with thorny, variations of this have been done with any item that has a shop value of over 100k.

Meh the price of whip of dropped, it isn't that expensive as it used to be. But thanks for the warning Anubis, I already seen this kind of scams.

Back when mystic tops were more than whips in the store my "friend" tried to something similar to me. She told me to get skulled while wearing a mystic top and some other stuff to look like a pure and have my whip. I checked the general store prices on the whip and body before we went out so I didn't do it. Free mystic top.

Good idea to warn people. But here's something for everyone to remember and (I think) obey: Never go when someone wants you to help with a "pking video", if you do never except items they try to give you before the "Video" is recorded, or bring a Dragon Dagger. If they whine about you not wanting to bring your whip then you know they're scammers.

Only thing with posting this thread is that it shows some people how to scam. But if you do try this scam remember, we know where you are, you can't hide XD

I've heard of it a while back maybe either around or before last years summer.Its a pretty common and dangerous lure that steals you whip or any other thing you might have.The lurer asks you to bring your whip and nothing else and if he can get your hp to 20 or lower then offers a large amount of money for the ordeal.When the trade screens on he attacks and you lose the whip.

Thanks for the warning. Some people may not realize that they are being scammed until it is too late. I almost got lured into the wildy by someone, but I didn't trust the person. I suspected something fishy.

it also works with dragon longswords, too. much cheaper.

this "lure" is mostly used in green dragon pking; first the killer dies with 4 longswords to a dragon. then somebody with a whip picks them up, and 2-3 pkers come out and kill him. there you go, a whip.

One of my friends was just scammed,

He had a Green Partyhat, and this guy said "My friend will buy your Phat"
My friend said "Ok, how much"
"600M" is what the guy said
My friend follows him to the Bear in or whatever near the beginning of the wilderness, and he says he'll drop 600M right before the wild, and it's actually in the wild, level 1, and then he starts getting barranged, and he lost his Green Partyhat to this scam.

Beware, partyhat owners.
