Me and my friend are thinking about going for 99 WC. I told him that we should both buy Dragon Hatchet's, but he told me that they were just as good as Rune Hatchet's but 2.98m cheaper. I was always under the impressio that a while ago, the Dragon Hatchet recieved an update which did make it better than the Rune.
Can anyone tell me if it is better, or not?

It is better, not that much but it's better.

Here's a topic on official forums which may be of help to you, some people are posting times that it takes with yews. However, you can never be too sure if they are telling the truth, or lying to make the d axe look good so more people will buy it, thus inflating the price.

http://forum.runescape.com/lang/en/aff/runescape/forums.ws?17,18,143,39746171

You have to remember though, that a simple 3 tests is not a very good indicator of the speed comparison of 2 axes.... as getting logs is based primarily on luck/randomness.

I have heard those rumours about d axe flying thru logs..especially on yews. Well, i bought one the other day to try it out for myself..

I actually thought, 3 months, i have 99 wc, 5 mil cash + d axe. Think again..

So i started wc yews (thats my plan for 99 wc)and i seemed to be getting them fairly slow..nothing noticably fast. So i decided to take out a stopwatch and time how long it takes for a load of yews.

The following are the results:

D axe --- 7 min 40 sec
7 min 50 sec
8 min 10 sec
7 min 30 sec

Rune axe -- 8 min 20 sec
8 min 05 sec
7 min 00 sec
7 min 20 sec

I'm going to do 3 inventories with each axe.
These results are with 96 woodcutting with 4 yews to myself:

DRAGON AXE - AVERAGE = 5 minutes, 43 seconds.

6 minutes, 12 seconds.
4 minutes, 26 seconds.
6 minutes, 31 seconds.

RUNE AXE - AVERAGE = 7 minutes, 5 seconds.

8 minutes, 32 seconds.
7 minutes, 51 seconds.
4 minutes, 53 seconds.

I would buy it if you had the money. Or go back in time and buy it before they made it good to save like 50% like I did.

I've heard that since the update (there was one), it was 10% better. Not much, but it can help in the end. I wouldn't get one, just because if the head flies off and I lag. If he pays attention and doesn't really lag a lot, he should buy it.

Did you actually go back in time?

I would buy one since it's better than rune axe, it would make it faster. And when you're done with wcing you can always re-sell it and you won't have lost that much money.

Yeah, I think i'm going to get my money together and buy one, in the long run it will help. And someome made a good point that even though it is pricey for a Hatchet, i'll easily make that back if i do go for 99.
Thanks, again, for the posts :)

You can always sell it if you dont like it, so you wont loose anything by trying.

Even if you don't like using it to chop wood, you can use its special in Castle Wars against those annoying Zaros magi.

Dragon axes aren't that much better, but they are better. I would buy one if I had the money, so go for it.

Jagex says it's better and they wouldn't lie about their own game would they?
Anyway, I'm lvl 99 WC and I got a D axe and no complaints here so far.

Why get a 99 quickly when you can enjoy the skill for a longer time and make a lot of money in the process?
