If the musician has over a certain amount of money it should be legal. The certain amount of money would be "low" in their opinions, but an amount people dream of having. They can make money from their concerts. The not so rich bands should have alternatives for their careers.

In my country, downloading songs used to be, LEGALLY, the exact same thing than if my friend made me listen to a song and ''I remember it really good''.

Lol.

Downloading music is bad, but we can never stop people from doing it.

As someone I know says:

''The most downloaded songs are also the most bought/listened songs.''

And, some addition to what Nmr7 just said, I would say most of known bands make money from their concerts and not from their CD's. CD's are more of a reason to start a new Tour than something else in my opinion. :P

Do you think it should be legal or illegal?

I don't see a problem, because musicians are bloody rich enough.

Agreed, why'd hell would I want to waste like $15 on an album just for one song which I like.

Oh Dear, in 100 years all the musicians will only be able to afford a 20 million dollar house. Poor them.

Well, what about the not so famous musicians. Theres bands like Saosin and I Am the Avalanche who are famous but don't have as much money as Slipknot and System of a Down. And don't forget about music stores! :!: They'll go bankrupt! :!: All the bands, including the richest ones would lose lots of money if downloading music was made legal.

then they should be greatful that people are downloading their music and therefore know that there are fans out there and depending where most of them download from they can hold concerts there.

if you are a very poor musician and you cannot afford to make and sell tons of cds and whatnot it's better so people can sample your songs

but if it got out of hand record companies would go out of business.

That will never happen because of music being downloaded.

I download albums I'd never buy, so all that's happening is I get an extra 12 songs in my library.

Actually, there is over 1 million of person who download music on LimeWire,Kaaza and Bear Share. So it is legal, Police cant arrest every body who download music...Be logic...If the download is for YOURSELF, it is legal. If you download, AND SELL IT, it is illegal cause its Author's Rights Ripping for earning personal gain.

Downloading music IS illegal! The only legal places are websites like Napster. Anywhere that you download music for free without paying anything is illegal. If you pay, it's legal.

different countries have different laws. it's legal somewhere and illegal in other country. so don't talk like it's illegal in whole world.
