Don't like slipknot myself, don't like their songs or how they do things.

I like the pits that start when my local rock club starts playing "Wait And Bleed" though I'm not too keen on any other song.
Stone Sour are ok.

ya, Cory Taylor is the singer of stone sour. stone sour is like slipknot, only more melodic and less heavy. if you like heavy music, but not as heavy as slipknot albums iowa and slipknot, then i recommend Vol. 3 by slipknot and Come What(ever) May by stone sour. in vol. 3 slipknot still has heavy songs like The Blister Exists, Three Nil, and the Nameless, but they also have mellow songs like Danger Keep Away, Prelude, and Vermilion Pt. 2. And Come What(ever) May by stone sour is heavy, but not as rough screams as slipknot.

Slipknot isn't extremely heavy. If you think Slipknot is really heavy, then you need to check out Children of Bodom, and then see who you think is heavy. COB is really heavy. Their guitars are good but their singing gives me a headache cuz they only scream. And the COB screams aren't like Slipknot screams. COB screams in a more high-pitched rough scream, so it's more like death metal, doom metal, thrash metal, keyboard metal, screamo, metal, and heavy metal. Check out this COB video:

What I normally call Slipknot would get me warned on this forum :}

I like a few of their songs, mainly from Vol. 3. However, I consider Slipknot to be overrated posers who know nothing about the hard rock/metal genre whatsoever and think putting on "creepy" masks and screaming makes them "hardcore". Yea right.

Honestly, venture out some. Find some bands with real talent.

Ugh, I hate when people shoot someone down for liking or disliking a band. I'm not directing this at anyone, but I've been seeing it happen for the past two weeks. Get over yourselves, seriously. If you think of yourself as a connoisseur of quality music-- that's fine. Everyone in the world (and, God forbid, on this forum) has a different idea of what talent/good music is. Just listen to what you like, rather than being a prat and making fun of someone else.

My rule is that if I can't understand what they are saying, I don't even bother. The guy just..shouts too much.. So, no, I don't really like them. Stone Sour are not too bad though.

they're not hardcore or heavy metal! slipknot is nu-metal! same with linkin park. i dont really know what nu-metal is, but i know that slipknot isnt much of a categorized band. people mainly consider slipknot rap/metal, but they dont rap except in their album slipknot. most websites mark them as nu-metal.

i have all their released cd's. almost. i have the actual cd of the bonus disc version of Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses), and I have Iowa in iTunes. I'm gonna get Slipknot soon. I also have Mate.Feed.Kill.Repeat.
