Pikes are the weapon that the elf is wielding. I think that they should be released into the game, they are dropped by the lvl 108 elfs that wield them, and to wield them you need 60 attack and 60 strength and also, lvl 50 agility.
Yes i am sure they are called pikes because when you examine the elfs that wield them it says "I dont want to be on the wrong side of that pike."
And so they dont confused with the fish named pike, they should be named "Elf Pike".
And they serve as a halberd because the elfs can hit you from 2 squares away with pikes just like halberds.
The pike should be a little stronger then a rune halberd.

UPDATE!!!
If you have done the Roving Elves quest, talk to Islwyn and she will give you a Crystal Pike BUT you must give her your Elf Pike. The Crystal Pike starts off with 2500 charges, like the other crystal items, it will turn into a seed when the charges run out. Islwyn can recharge the Crystal seed into the crystal pike again if you give her 3 Elf Pikes or 800k, and again, like the other crystal items, the more you have her recharge it, the price will go down to recharge it but she will not go below 170k.
Since you need to give an Elf Pike to Islwyn to get the Crystal Pike, it will not be one of the crystal item choices for a reward from Roving Elves quest.
The requirements to wield the Crystal Pike are 70 attack + 70 Strength and 50 agility. It is a two handed weapon. The Crystal Pike is also stronger then a Dragon Halberd so basically, you can call it the Crystal Halberd that Ilfeen (another elf that recharges your crystal item) talks about when she recharges your crystal item.
Every 2 blue splats that you hit will cause the weapon to lose a charge.(500 Blue Splats that you hit = Decay
-Reverts back to seed-)
Well......that was a big update....sorry if that confused you.
I might add more along the way.
