Some solutions to our macro problems:

1. When in Edgeville, cutting yews, shut the door, so those stupid macroers can't get outside with the goods or get killed by random ( looks at 25 free yew logs).

2. To spot a macroer, just put up a rubber chicken (If you have it) and whack a possible macroer with it while he's busy, if he doesn't go back to work after you whacked him, whack him again when he does, and if he doesn't go back now, REPORT HIM by all means  .

Hope this will help :p

Thanx, but can you really report someone using the 'Rubber Chicken Method'? It's not really solid proof...

I've found the rubber chicken generally doen't work on woodcutting macros...infact I've never got it to work...most are set to take damage to about 3 or 4 so it generally doesn't work...Shall I pull up my "how to spot a macro mega post I put up a long time ago?"

Your wish is my command....here are some things I notice about macroers.

meesekiller wrote:
I had a post a few month ago on signs of autoers. The worst "obvious" autoers are the one running acounts like this "Bob1" World 5, "Bob2" World 6...etc...I reported a guy running 11 accounts at once... on yews...all lvl 70 and above(solely in the woodcutting skill). Is that autoing? I can safely assume so. All 11 accounts were later banned. Okay beyond that you have to look for patterns...examples... clues are they were the basic runescape clothing, aka they account was made really fast. Second, they are lvl 3 or 4...this is often a give away, but not always see spaz or whatever his name that used to be on here (lvl 3 with like 1100 total lvls). Three, they have one skill (the one they are using) that trumps all the rest...aka they don't have a single other skill on the top 1,000,000 list. Fourth, massive extended time on a world. I've logged on to do a few yew runs in the morning see a few people...then I come back at six or seven that night and they are still there...fishy. Generally macroers share several of these characteristics...obviously a macroer will not talk, or if it does...it won't make sense (I've seen macros that answer things like "he" or
"I like that"). You can tell it is macroing because it repeats the same thing a million times.

A few other tips to spot a macro. Look for mathmatically precise movements over a period of time aka every time a tree gets cut down the character waits exactly x amount of seconds to move. Also, many macros only move between certain trees. I.E. the middle two in draynor forest. Why? To avoid the muggers at the east tree and passing through the jail guard cell when going back to the bank at the north tree. Other trick including trying a a rubber chicken which the macro sometimes sees as an attack and will run...(I haven't gotten this to work on a treecutting macroer.)

I hope I've helped you out. There are ways to intelligently identify macroers...if you are careful and thought full you can avoid reporting players that are just not talking...happy macroer hunting.

Bonas edit: A way to limit tree macroers would be to put lvl 10 or 20 monsters around draynor forest (and other yew spots) that attacked fairly often...like the scorpions in the mines...would it be fair? I think making people raise there combat to 30 or so to avoid being attacked is a fair trade off for limiting macroers. One of the problems with rune ess was there is nothing to attack low combat players down there...hence any lvl 3 can macro hardcore for days or weeks in the rune ess mines.

And post two...or one if you are going chronologically.

meesekiller wrote:
It is in my opinion pretty easy to tell an autoer. The run in set patterns, stand next to trees that aren't there instead of going to a good tree, they will only harvest from two...sometimes three trees, but most of all they will never...ever the north tree in draynor forest.

Why is this? If the macroer was to complete his round on the north tree the fastest way back would be right throught the jail. This has lvl 26 guards that can kill a lvl 3 or 4 in two hits. So those are the way I tell. I suppose the talking thing might not work, but I myself never get bored of responding proudly how high my woodcutting lvl is. Why do you think I play runescape? Also, Jagex, I'm pretty sure has no real clue who is macroing part time. If they did they would have banned a 100,000 not 15k.

Plus just because you have a high post count on this site doesn't make you trustworthy. There are tons of scammers, macroers, and hackers on this very forum. Don't believe me? How do you think they find out about your bank...your stats, and you skills. I don't trust anyone here. You guys all act like your good buddies buddies here, but what is to say that the people who have been hacked on here weren't hacked by members they knew and trusted? I don't believe sob stories about getting hacked. There are a million ways to reduce the chances. I suppose once in a blue moon someone who has a bank pin, pasword, doesn't share with friends, doesn't use macros, and generally stays fairly annonomius does get hacked. But it is a rare, rare occation. Most people that have been hacked fill one of the above catagories.

Btw I am currently watching an autoer. He is moving between the middle and southern trees in Draynor only. He waits at empty trees while others are obviously open. He delays before cutting a tree...for the same amount of time...everytime, and even though I've talked to him several times he hasn't responded. The bot is a lvl 5 with 81 woodcutting. Funny thing is I saw this bot a few days ago and reported him...he had lvl 75 woodcutting then. Funny how six woodcutting lvls in two days would take oh 48 hours! (okay maybe not but he has obviously been on for a while, I'm about to use the rubber chicken. lol) So before you go spouting off again...I don't just report people blindly. It is one hello fo a coincidence if that guy isn't a bot!

I'm now woodcutting lvl 87 (closing in on 88) so I've been doing it for while. Trust me there are plenty of macroers to report out there...happy hunting.

Edit: And here is a treat...in my former post I told you of r daly...well here is a small sample of how he macroes...Image

I have nothing against autoers actually, they find out a way to make real life cash in RS most of the time and they don't use the acounts they auto on much anyway since they get banned in couple of weeks. For f2p they are a huge problem, but in p2p I haven't seen even a single autoer in ages.

Now, this is a fact - There is at least ONE autoer in every single world at any given time. That's just that.

actually, the rune essence autoers just moved on to p2p. they create a noob account, train mining to 30 and mine pure ess nonstop. why would they waste $7 on making it a member account? just because they get too much profit for selling rs money for real money.

pure essence can be sold for 100 gp. easy to mine, too. few clicks involved.
