Ok, well talking with a friend on msn, he asked, if summoning would be a skill, or just spells added onto magic.

Now before i continue, dont even start posting crap like "omgz0rs this has been talked about sooo much" or "nobody cares".

Now, to the threads point. I want everyone to share their answers, and reasons for their answers. Example: if you think it would be a skill, explain why it would be, how it would be integrated into rs etc. This is assuming one day it would be added.

Personally, i dunno what it would be, i can see how it would be add-ons to magic, but also a skill by itself. If it was a skill, it would have to interact with other skillz, like runecrafting, make special runes to summon, maybe skill requirements for certain types of things to summon and so on.. If it was just added spells, i think it would be kinda bland and boring..

Share your thoughts and such about this.

i believe it will be an add on. summoning has no real value for a skill. i mean what are you going to do summon skeletons with wc axes to cut wood for you? nah i'm thinking magic add on. if you take a look at some of the quest most people who tried summon are wizards so it will be a magic add on

It's an add on. Jagex has said so before.

I think it should be a skill all by itself. Slayer, after all, is a combat-based skill, yet is a skill all by itself.

However i think the things you can summon would have to be highly limited, and probably only undead and demons, and some of the slayer monsters.

There would, of course, have to be a quest to be able to do it, and it would probably end up members only.

I think it will be an add-on. Btw have you seen the mages north of rimmington? The master mage there summons skelton mages. Pretty intersting.

I think it should have a staff of its own and still be a part of the Magic skill. And red_rooste5, everyone should have seen them by now. And, besides, summoning skeleton mages is nothing much.

I think it'll be a magic 'add-on' because it'll be just like a dwarf multi cannon. You summon the monster, it fights ramdomly until it runs out of Hp then u summon another monster. Not to mention while this is happening u'll get a little mage xp for summoning and some more for all the damge it'll be doing.

But I'll have to add that the only way u'll be able to summon them is by using ashes. If this is so Jagex might have to think of adding even more deamons and add a phew ancient deamons only available to the ancient staff.

Strangly enough I was just thinking about this a few days ago also. :P I think it will be an add on. You will be able to summon stronger monsters depending on your magic level. Making a whole new skill just seems a little strange to me. As a new skill it would be a little too easy to train. Just sit there and summon your monster for a few hours and get a decent level. :?

it'll be an add-on. The current bones to fruit spells are kinda like summoning, but not that extreme. I have a relatively decent mage level, so i hope it will be a part of magic.

Even though it says its gunna be a skill, id say itll prob be magic...

But i havent heard a word about it ever since they made the "Recent Updates" Forum on rsb...wonder if they'll just drop it and not bring dat skill out

And if it is a skill, idk how the hell ud be able to train that...

I expect it will be a magic addition. Your minions would keep getting stuck and they probably wouldn't move fast enough to keep up with player opponents, so the only place I can see them being really useful is a summoning arena, assuming they add one.

Ok, lets say, since the vote is winning at magic add on.. Lets say, you have limited amount of monsters to summon at once.. lets say a maximum of 1-3.. i dunno..

Anyways, when they fight for you, the damage they hit on the monster, would that exp go towards your exp in combat?..

How long would the monster even stay summoned? If it doesnt attack anything.. Where can they be summoned, for example, i dont think it would be a good idea walking on world 2 seeing 200+ summoned monsters

well thats all i can think of right now..

If they did put it in the game, i think they would put it as a magic add-on, because that would annoy everyone by making the scrollbar longer. Plus, if you look at the stats page in the game, all the slots are full. Unless they revamped it, i don't think they are making nay more skills for now.

Add On To Magic. I think it should use the runes that are difficult to get like Smoke, Lava, etc. Which is where the Lava Staff will become a lot more useful and will probably go up in price. Theres my 2c.
