It's a game, it's not real life. I don't see the big fuss here.

jagex can set up the high alching price, and jagex gets so rich by setting the price of bronze med to 500mil ea, and they high alch all the way.

the jagex staffs set the high alch back to zero, and well..... drop, or giv to people, or put in monsters..... idk, maybe the money comes from jagex, or radom

I really don't think jagex will change the high alch prices of the items that are already settled like " good high alching" item. And do you really think that a bronze med will ever cost or will high alch for 500m? Runescape wouldn't do such a thing....

It's just fun. And you can't deny it is a working trading market here. Trading and economy can be fun. Then why can't the runescape market be fun aswell?

The 'economy' in runescape is one of the reasons why I quit.

I got sick and tired of Jagex adding new, long awaited or stronger/better items and make them way too hard to get for what they were.

Lets take the Dragon Hatchet, one of my favourite examples.

What DO you have to do to gt one of these?
You're going to have to go all out of your way to relleka, a pain to everyone
then you're going to have to kill a lv xxx monsters while being attacked by two others using mage, melee and ranged?

Obviously, due to how 'hard' these items are to get, the price is going to be high.

Lets see, Rune hatchet gets/got me around 4 bags of magic logs per hour, at lv85-88 woodcutting.

Dragon hatchet got me 4-5 bags per hour, usually about 10 or 12 more logs than normal.

After about a day of testing the dragon Hatchet i sold it, I've done the same with the whip, and many other items such as veracs armor, ahrims armour etc.

Why?

because the slight, tiny advantage I get for paying that amount of gp is not worth it. Its not worth spending money on prayer pots to get to dagganoth to kill one for the HATCHET (not the money).

I get annoyed at the masses of players who seem to think that the 'street price' is not controlled by jagex.

here's a newsflash for you - Yes, It Is.

Jagex affects everything in this game, if they make an item hard to get - bang! Price goes up into the millions. If jagex makes an item easy to get, uh oh, price = 1gp.

No matter what anyone says, Jagex can easily change the prices of anything in street price - how? Change the item/how to get the item.

Dragon Longsword - puts rune long to shame, my personal favourite weapon in the game. Why? because it costs 100K, can be bought from a shop, doesnt require a ridiculous amount of 'skill' to get, and wow - great advantage over someone with a rune longsword eh?

As for the economy crashing - no-one uses general stores. If they do, its prolly for a bucket.

People can stop posting now saying it's stupid and there's no need for discussion, if people do it smartly, it can be an interesting topic doesn't have to go anywere or affect anything.

Problem with the runescape theft *cough* economy, is that as soon as a new item comes out, first person to get it sets a price of 50 million gp.

Yeah...thats pretty much what everyone has to worry about :P

Of course inflation runs rabid ... due to instant gp and lack of ways to take large sums out. However, every item eventually reaches it's base price and quite unfortunate some skills at lower levels actually cost more in resources and gp than what they are worth.

Anyway, it's just a game... the economy is not real and has no real ramifications...

The economy will sure as heck not crash.

You people keep saying that everything evens out as peple buy/sell/lose things, but that is not necessarily true. No matter how many things are lost or otherwise disposed of, it will in no way make up for the revenue generated by high level high alchers who alch thousands of steel/mith/addy pl8s every day. Thats millions of gp being poured into the economy just by one person each day.

However, that doesnt matter. Why?

Inflation. Look at the price of rares (party hats in specific). More and more money enters the RS economy, but that just means that RS players have more and more cash to spend on frivolous items such as rares.

So no matter how much money happens to enter the economy, it will by no means lead to a market crash. Jagex will make sure of that, but their job should not be hard because the economy has a way of suspending itself.

=)

I hope you got the point though...The economy is not in danger of ever crashing because it is so balanced by itself, rares, etc. Jagex has done a great job of guaranteeing us that =)
