I have been in archery for last year, and got myself a couple of badges (and an awesome Mars Rover lego model) and if you weish to read this: do so.
-I used a recurve bow. sight included. Revurve isn't like the regular 'robin hood' bows you see. On each end, there's some sort of recurve (hard to describe by typing)
-I didn't use gloves, but there was a leather piece I called "finger tab". It's used to cusion the force of you pulling the bow string back.
-We didn't use armor, but we had a vambrace on the arm that holds the bow. IT protects from the twanging string. (trust me, I once had a faulty vambrace, it freakin' HURT
-The arrows I used did not have the '-->' design. It was more of a '---' with a pointy tip.
-If you want to see a picture of the badges I have, I'll get a picture of it and send it here
-You are DEFINATLY RIGHT when you say "Runescape archery looks soooo fake" Downright. if physics worked the exact correctness, we'd be shooting the tree behind us instead of the moss giant we aimed for.
-It does NOT take that fast to get a arrow on the string and fire.
-To help people hold the bow up, I use a sling. It's just a strap with two loops on either end. your thumb and index finger go through each loop (but remember to have the bow handle unside the sling area)
-Today's quivers are strapped to your hip, held up by a belt. There are pockets to store your sling, vambrace and finger tab. as well as enough tubes to hold an ***** for arrows (I have 6 arrows from last Xmas)
-In medieval times, the people were usually short as 5 feet. The Longbowsa of that time were 6 feet long. and could pierce inch-thick metal armow just as easily as a 2-handed broadsword could cut through leather... or inch-thick armor. either way, the longbow is super-deadly and require those with awesome strength to weild.
Remember: Runescape archery sucks. Has Jagex tried archery before?
