How to put shields on buddies

How do you do it? When i make them the shield is always half way over the persons body. Is this is how its supposed to be?

it also depends on the program youre using to make it. if youre using photoshop put the shield on a new layer and then arrange the layer order so that the shield is below the body of your buddy. if youre using paint then you have to make sure you put the shield down first before the rest of the buddy as there is no layer method. i usually make the rest of the buddy first then place the shield. then cut and paste the rest of the buddy over the shield. works well i think..
