Sadly it is too much for some people.

I've payed for it from age 12-13 out of my own pocket. It can be done people just don't believe they SHOULD pay more than once for a game.

As for all these comments about needing f2p..to hell do we. There are on average the same amount of members on worlds as f2p now. If they removed f2p they could STILL drag in new members with a 2 week trial and p2p could EASILY survive without f2p due to there being such large numbers of us now. People REALLY need to stop thikning it's so important to have.

Ever seen those cute little adds they have on top of the page in free-to-play applets? They get paid for that. And since we p2p , don't see them, if they cut f2p, they cut in revenue. So lets say, banner shown once gives 0.5$( even less, makes no diference ). calculate the number of people who sees the add, the rotation every couple of minutes, and imagine the profit they make out of it....

Understand now?

The adds don't change every few mins. Or at least they didn't a few months ago. Nor do they make enough to pay for all that server space - adds do not give a big amount of money. Members pay for the f2p servers they just contribute to it. I also didn't say anything about f2p paying for themselfs..or getting a free ride..i just said they are not needed anymore - runescape can survive on it's own without an unlimited f2p.

If it was not a good source of income, you can bet they would not do it. Why would they bother if it did'nt. I know for a fact that websites with as few as 5,000 visitors a day put up the adsense program and other publicities, because even they get a decent cut. Imagine Runescape. As for the adds change, well, i started playing in April, so before that i got no idea.

Oh and about the f2p not needed anymore. This truly a question of opinion, but let's put it like this: Everyone becomes tired, eventually. Jagex needs a flow of new players joining member status. A 14 day trial, or any numer-of-day trial would be ridiculous. As good as the game is, it is still a java app.

I , personally, would never have joined RS if it adopted a "World Of Warcraft" kind of attitude.

well i thought that this would have ended a while ago but here is my comment again. without each other there can not be a runescape. It takes lots of money to be on a server that jagex has now plus the cost of paying there "real" staff. many people will agree and disagree on many things like the ads for one thing. Many Webmasters make a living off banners like that or jagex is getting paid to sponser those ads. P2P gets to not see thoses ads becasue they paid for a better version. Another thing updates are being updated fairly even jagex said that the majority of updates go to the premium players and that few would be for the Free user but that havn't totaly frogotten about u guys. My suggestion is just enjoy the game while it is still here casue 5 years from now there might not be a runescape. so remember just play the game and stop complaing.

Ah. But it is it's raking in members. What jagex fails to realize is how addictive this game is they only need to give people a free month trial (yes i've changed it to a month because you had a point) and those that would of became members..will do simply because they are hooked. Im not wanting f2p gone im merly saying their not needed.

Agreed for a month, it would also get rid of the undesirable players ( Not aiming at anyone, but a lot of the anoyance would flee at a simple trial).

We're not complaining. We are simply discussing about it. Seeing each other's opinion is a step up to general understanding.
