Ubisoft will release the next chapter in the Assassin's Creed saga on October 30, 2012, less than a year after the previous entry, Assassin's Creed: Revelations, shipped on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. While details on Assassin's Creed III are scant, Ubisoft says the sequel will be "the biggest launch" in the publisher's history.

Beyond that, we don't know much about the content of Assassin's Creed III. We know it will feature an all-new protagonist, with Ezio Auditore da Firenze taking a much needed break. We know that Ubisoft has been working on the game for three years. And we've heard — though not from Ubisoft directly — that the American Revolution may serve as the historical backdrop for the game.

Ubisoft is smart to get the game out a bit earlier than it normally does, beating the November juggernaut that is Call of Duty to market by a few weeks.

interesting tho still going to seem rushed, or with limited improvements over revelations. tho they wont be able to reuse to many of the past city models from the previous games. tho I do wonder how they will make viewpoints and leaps of faith with only small buildings that were mainly present during the revolutionary days shall be interesting to see what they do.

The thing is, though, that Ubisoft's company is so huge, it's not really rushed. CoD is just cutting and pasting, but Ubisoft does a great job on coming up with great story lines and great gameplay. The tactics don't vary a lot, but that's mostly been because we are dealing with old school assassinations (eg. by hidden blade). I'm glad they aren't taking a full year. This is the game I'm looking forward to the most this year...so far anyway.
