Pretty much nothing, except that LoL is easier to get into as a new player (its matchmaking helps new players play other new players) than HoN. Also, free players in LoL have access to reports and matchmaking while purely free HoN players are restricted in who they can play with and they can't report. Whichever one you pick pretty much comes down to personal taste.

I just heard bout this

I have recently been playing LOADS of LoL, but i might try HoN when i get some time.

From what I've seen, LoL seems more easy on the eyes (nice graphic style) and easier to get into it as a new player. But it only has 2 maps, which is a BIG downside.

Ones on it's death bed and desperately trying to crawl back to life by going f2p and one is not. Community sucks on both from what I've experienced. I'm waiting on Valves version of the game cause it's bound to be better.
