Might be a surprise to the rest of the world that our political leaders are ignorant ***** but the general british public probably should of known that when they voted for them or they could of just asked me.

Amusingly enough this chump voted for the war. So while the video game has you play as taliban this guy sent our troops in there to die for real. Ban him from the UK for being "un-british"(you dont speak for the country *******) along with the rest of them.

The ONLY thing that gets up my nose is i can't shake the feeling that perhaps EA was banking on this sort of attention and there whole reasoning for using taliban and the such was to get the free advertising. Which I'm not a fan of at all. As it goes i wont be buying the game but not because of this guy just cause it's not looking like a very good game anywho.

I was just about to create this topic, and then I saw someone else had got there before me :) Anyway, here's the BBC's article on the matter: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-11056581

Clearly this man is a knob. I don't like saying this because it's a bit of a generalisation, and people often take it the wrong way, but this is just another example of the older generation being...well, old. I'm sure Fox isn't the only person to feel this way, but I'd be willing to bet that most of the people who agree with him are old enough to be my dad. Ironically, the people who disagree are the people who have the least interest in games. The younger generations- the people who, after all, this game is aimed at, are the people who couldn't give two hoots about what Mr Fox thinks.

It's utterly ridiculous that in this day and age such an opinion makes it into the news. Mr Fox, if you're reading this, keep your stupid thoughts to yourself.

well also remember that a company wanted to make a game about fallujah but then it got shut down because people said it was immoral.

I don't think EA was using the taliban for free advertising. This is the first time I've heard anything big about Metal of Honor. But it seems like most big games have controversies (Remember the *** trailer?). Besides, leave it to the people to decide if it's right or wrong. If they think it's wrong, then they don't buy it. Don't force an entire country to believe the same **** thing you do, Mr. Fox.

I can see his thinking behind it, but I don't think this is a serious issue. And as for EA doing it on purpose, I'd say yes and no.

I can't really think of a game that has ever focused on a recent real life event such as a war or any conflict. If that's the case, then I see it a testy issue in the gaming industry. Is it okay to take something that is currently ongoing and make a game centered around that. It will definitely hit much closer to home as it is going on right now and it might anger some. But on that note, I say no because I don't think that is the reason for EA doing it. Again, it's testing a type of storyline that hasn't really been encountered before, at least to my knowledge. Taking something currently on going is much different then say going back to World War II or picking a futuristic setting for something like war to take place. But no matter what, I don't think this is a serious issue. If anything, it's a type of "Ignoring the elephant int he room" scenario. Yes the war is going and yes I understand people have died and been affected by it, but is it really that offensive to make a video game about it? Has Germany ever really made a fuss over the Call of Duty games? That might be a terrible example, but it does make you wonder. How close can a company come to the real thing without stepping on peoples toes?

The actual war is ok but a video game simulating it isn't? Seems kinda strange to me...
