if you have the nice big fat PS3, don't bother trying to play online today.

PS3

As you may be aware, some customers have been unable to connect to the PlayStation Network today. This problem affects the models other than the new slim PS3.

We believe we have identified that this problem is being caused by a bug in the clock functionality incorporated in the system.

so basically this is like a mini Y2K

I read about this bug on quickjump (exactly the same information).

Its not a big problem really but I'm glad I have a PS3 slim on times like these. :P

glad mine hasn't been hooked up to the net for awhile (only hook it up rarely to update the firmware mostly). but also glad it still has the backwards compatability fully functional =)

Don't even have a PS3 so doesn't affect me but I bet a lot of the people at Machinima, along with everyone else, are going to hate this because they can't play Modern Warfare 2 with their friends. :/

It was actually fixed 5 hours ago. But it really wasn't a big deal, you couldn't play your PS3 for a day, get over it.

Nevermind the fact a large amount of games where unplayable. Those are things people payed for and supposedly own so why are they cut off the moment PSN goes down? What happens when doen the road PSN on the PS3 is shut down? Are we really just renting this stuff or do we own it?

Why can you not install Linux on the slims? (sorry if it is off topic).

Sony shot themselves in the foot again.
In the old fatteh PS3 there was an option to install "Other OS".
They completely removed the option this option on the slim. The reason why I'm not sure :( ...
