Guild Wars

Okay,
So I've never played this game before but I'm contemplating getting it.

I just wanted to know a few things about it and wondered if the kind people of BnB would help me.

1) What's the best Character and Profession for me to choose as a new player to Guild Wars?
2) Which is the first game of the trilogy?
3) I've heard people talking about factions, what are these and which would be the best for me to go with?

I'll probably come up with more questions. If you need information on the style of gameplay I like then just ask (i.e. whether I like to spend time doing repetitive tasks or I prefer to get stuck in with fighting.)

1)There is no best one. You realy need to player around with them. My fave is a Necromancer/Ranger. (Ranger bacause you can get pets)
2)There is one game called "Guild Wars". Thats the one you want to start off with.
3)I only play the Guild Wars and none of the others but the way I understand them is that completely different games. One does not have to do anything with the other. (im not completely sure about that.)

I was obsessed with this game for a full year and got 5 max level characters.
I don't want to discourage you but WoW is better and even though theres no monthly charge, you end up paying more with GW buying every game and expansion and more character slots than paying for wow.

1) I agree with Kill there is no best but i would have to go with Warrior/Monk.
2) in order:
Prophecies
Factions
Nightfall < I would start out with that.
Eye of the North expansion
3)Factions as in the arena factions?
If i'm correct on what you're speaking about there is Luxon and Kurzick
When you join a guild, the guild leader has chosen one of these factions, when you enter and arena those are the teams.
And it really doesn't matter, they're both equal.

To Killjoy, they are different but there are quests leading to the next game so they are connected in some way.

all are good depending on the situation.
for easiest i would say warrior, elementalist and necromancer.
there's always 1 good warrior in every party, elementalist are always needed and necromancer is always good.
2) Which is the first game of the trilogy?
prophecies is the first one but nightfall is the most newbie friendly. that one really tries to teach you everything you need to survive.
if you go to their website, you can download all the games in a special bundle deal. save a few bucks unless you want a hard copy.
3) I've heard people talking about factions, what are these and which would be the best for me to go with?
well there is the faction campaign but i believe you mean the kurzicks and the luxons. think of them as horde and alliance. both are good depending what you style of play is but if you really want to pvp, you have to go luxon. almost all the high ranking pvp guilds and alliances are luxon

Not sure what the prices are on their website, but Steam recently added the develpoers to their online store, so you can now buy any of the games from Steam. Here's the link for the trilogy, though they should have the individual games as well.

Oh sorry to correct my statement, you can now buy the trilogy in one pack for 50$ not including the 40$ expansion.
i got mine for 20 prophecies + 40 factions + 50 Nightfall + 40 Eye of the North + 30 3 character slots = 180$. Now that i quit they let you save 100$ lucky me.

I bought Prophecies yesterday and I've got a level 5 Ranger so far. I was just wondering about how many people on here actually play Guild Wars?
It's a really fun game so far and has me very interested in how the game will advance.

Okay, so I can't log into my account now, which sucks. It says I have some internet routing problem so it can't connect. Any ideas on how to fix it? I've tried getting onto the gw website but it wont load. So I can't redownload the client or get to the support page.

I've contacted support and they've been extremely helpful so far, I'm not that good when it comes to actually fixing computers, but when they're working I'm fine with them. So I contacted support and they've walked me through it.
