So, I got the Orange Box this week (great package btw). I decided to try out Portal first since the extra content downloaded the quickest and it was suggested pretty well. The first day, I played about an hour and got to the 17th or 18th stage then took a break. The next day, I picked it up and went right at it and finished the game. I must say, though the game was short and a little frustrating at times, I was able to finish it without once looking up a guide or anything else. Despite being very short (thought I haven't played the bonus maps yet), the game was quite fun. Unlike FPS or RTS games, Portal makes you think in a different and uncomfortable way to solve problems. Even though the game is short, some of the levels can be a little time consuming. Sometimes a solution isn't readily available until you either simplify your thinking or just go outside the box. This uniqueness in thinking quite intrigued me and I will be suprised to see what Valve will do for Portal 2 to make it even better. Oh...and the cake is
not a lie.
If I had to give it a rating, I'd say a solid 8 out of 10. Probably a little better, but an 8 will suffice.
Anyone else have thoughts about the game?
