As far as I know there is no way to actually store it on there, without media center, just to play it from.

You can like .. plug your MP3 or whatever into the USB and listen to it, but as far as I know you can't save it onto the drive.

Theres plenty of ways.

If your PC and Xbox 360 hooked up to the same router then you can transfer music and video files to your xbox, even stream it to your 360 just to watch it. Theres also plenty of 3rd party programs that do all that and more.

You can also burn music (or video) files to a CD and rip them to your 360.

Also, you can transfer music files from your pc, to an MP3 player and then transfer the music files from the MP3 player to your 360.

Do you get an error code? Or does it say Unplayble disc?

If you get an error code part of the disc may be scratched and your 360 can only read part of it.

If you get an unplayable disc error then first make sure your music files are WMA or MP3. It should work for both. If they are then check and see if you have any other files on the disc, it may confuse your xbox. If not that then make sure your xbox can read 'main brand' discs (Not burnt, bought from a store).

Thats about it.

As far as i know MP3 players wont transfer files to your 360. At least not when i did it.

The *only* way I've managed to store music on my 360 is from putting a shop bought CD in there then it'll happily copy.

If you want your MP3s to play you just plug it into the USB and it'll play but you can't store.

Some MP3 players don't have the right software to transfer files, all new ones should come with the software.

USB is basically the same thing as an Ipod or a MP3 player.
