The Fletching Skill Guide
This is a *members only* skill. To use this skill, you will have to become a member.

1. Making Arrows.
To make some arrows, you will need the following;
1 knife.
At least 1 Normal log.
At least 15 Feathers.
At least 15 Arrowheads.
First, you use your knife on your Normal Log.
Choose the option to make 15 Arrow Shafts.
Then use your Feathers on the Shafts to receive Headless Arrows.
Finally, use your arrowheads on the Headless arrows.
You now have 15 arrows!
2. Making Ogre and Brutal Arrows
2.1: Ogre Arrows
You need to have completed the Big Chompy Bird Hunting Quest to make and use these arrows.
To make Ogre Arrows, you will need the following.
1 Knife.
1 Chisel.
1 Wolf Bones.
1 Achey Log.
6 Feathers.
First, use your chisel on your wolf bones to receive between 2 and 6 Bone Arrowtips.
Then, use your knife on your logs, to get between 2 and 6 shafts.
Use your feathers on your shafts to get Headless Ogre Arrows.
Now use your arrowheads on your Headless Ogre Arrows to finish.
To use Ogre Arrows, you will need a special bow.
One of which, the Ogre Bow, can be received from Rantz during the Chompy Quest.
The other, the Composite Ogre Bow must be fletched during the Zogre Flesh Eater Quest.
To make an Ogre Composite Bow, you will need;
A Knife (as always)
1 Achey Log.
1 Bowstring.
1 Wolf Bones.
First, use your knife on the Achey Log while carrying your wolf bones, to make an Unstrung Ogre Composite Bow.
Then, use your bowstring on the unstrung bow.
You now have an Ogre Composite Bow!
2.2: Brutal Arrows
You need an Ogre Composite Bow to use any of these arrows.
To make Brutal Arrows, you will need;
Headless Ogre Arrows, or the materials needed to make them.
Metal Nails, these can be smithed, or bought from other players.
A Hammer
Black Nails are found in the coffins in the Zogre Flesh Eater area.
Simply, use your Metal Nails with your Headless Ogre Arrows, while the Hammer is in your inventory, and you are done.
Brutal Arrows are the most effective weapon against the undead ogres (Skogres and Zogres) in the Zogre Flesh Eater area. You must make brutal arrows during the Zogre Flesh Eater quest.
3. Making Darts
To make Darts, you will have had to have done the Tourist Trap Quest.
Darts are the fastest weapon in Runescape, if used in rapid mode. They also do not need a bow to be used, just a high enough ranged level. They are one of the best ways to level up the ranged skill.
To make Darts, you will need the following;
Dart Tips. These are usually smithed.
Feathers.
Very simple, use feathers on the dart tips.
You now have at least one Dart!
Darts need one feather per Dart Tip.
4. Making Stronger Bolts.
Bolts are used in Crossbows, and are not used very much around Runescape. However, these bolts can be used in conjunction with a crossbow in circumstances such as fighting Elvarg the Dragon in the Dragon Slayer Quest.
To make stronger bolts, you will need a stronger bolt tip. These are usually made using the crafting skill and are obtained in a few ways.
Opal Bolt tips are found by mining an opal, and using the chisel on it twice. First cutting it, then making the bolt tips.
Pearl Bolt tips are found by fishing oysters, if you are lucky, the oyster will have a pearl or pearls inside of it. If you then use a chisel on the pearls, you will receive some Pearl Bolt tips.
Barbed Bolt Tips are found in the Ranged Guild. These are bought for archery tickets which can also be received in the ranged guild.
5. Making Bows
Quite possibly the best way to raise fletching, making bows can also become an excellent way to make money.
To make bows, you will need the following;
A Knife,
One of any type of log.
A Bowstring.
First, use your knife on the log to bring up a menu.
Select either Shortbow or Longbow from this menu. If you are using Normal logs, you will also see the shafts option. Do not click on this.
After your character has fletched the log, use your bowstring on the new bow (u) to finish your bow.
6. Alching Prices
Alching bows is a great way to make money from fletching. Usually, players dont alch anything except yew or magic longbows because otherwise, you wont get any profit.
