As for my reconsideration of the topic, it's hard to say what is the correct course of action. It's nice to have things like Youtube and Facebook, yet much of the content on it is copied from somewhere else. There needs to be a balance between the media industry and the user. Media companies need to be able to make money, but users need to be able to access and share the content to some degree. I don't think SOPA and PIPA achieve that balance, nor do I think any piece of legislation could meet the challenge. People are going to be people and want to share things illegally. The media industry will constantly be looking for more ways to make money and protect it's content. So long as both sides are set in their ways, I see no way to fix the situation except by government policing and intervention.
