I did something really awkward. Google never saw it coming.
I jew-ed Google Voice for free (US only, I'm in Canada), so that means unlimited SMS on my phone, and I've been dying to know, HOW DO YOU MAKE CALLS?!?!
Works in Gmail, I doubt there's an add-on to do anything within Google Voice itself, because I wanna try calling from my phone over WiFi. So how does the calling process work?

Me trying to call Pizza 73:

Since I'm nowhere near the phone I signed up GV with, does that mean the call won't go to the pizza shop I've been craving? It's necessary, right? You can't call from your browser, but somehow, JUST SOMEHOW, you can call directly from Android.

Searching for this doesn't help either, the video GV released made no sense. I was hoping you guys could help. Sorry for the newb question.
Love you all, thanks in advance.

Google voice doesn't actually give you any free minutes or texting from your phone. It is basically a way to sync multiples phone numbers (i.e. home, work, and cell) into one number that somebody can call.

Here is how the calling works. If you are on the computer and enter a number into google voice to call, it calls your phone of choice (depending on what you have synced w/ GV) and then connects you to the desired number. For outgoing calls it really isn't extremely beneficial, but it is good to use for others to recognize your number if you have given them your GV number instead of your other number(s). Although it can be synched with the gmail phone service. Instructions can be found here.

Now, if you are on your android and have wifi, you can simply get on gmail/GV and make a call. The adobe air app was just recently released and if you look into that I think there is a way to connect a GV call w/o the use of wifi, through said app.

Some final notes, the texting service that GV provides is only free if done through GV on the internet. If you have forewording on, and are texting somebody else from your phone using your GV number it still counts as a charged text. (The same goes for the minutes used when calling GV).

If anything else doesn't make sense let me know, GV is kinda confusing but very cool once you get the hang of it.

I don't have text forwarding on, and the texting is still free for me with a data plan, or wherever there's wifi, so thanks for that. ;)

Yeah, let's say I call Pizza 73, for example. I get presented with two options (I turned them on in the options menu, in hopes I could figure this out one day). Call with, or without GV. I do have wifi on, pretty strong, the call with option brings me to a dead line. I have observed that it calls a random GV number (possibly the connection number?), but it doesn't say it's calling the phone I signed up with, so the "Calling you!" message isn't there.

I know you need at the LEAST a data plan, and better if you have a voice and data plan. Even though wifi will crush the data plan altogether in terms of its epicness, and the way it still should work with calling.

Well I will go back to that picture since I think that is your main problem. So that number on top should be Pizza 73 or whoever you are trying to call. And I assume "FroPhone" is your phone, and if so, it seems like you have it set up right.

Does the call just never reach your phone, or does it and then it fails to call Pizza 73?

Well, it does, but it's just dead when I pick up.
No forwarding no nothing.

Add your Google Chat as an option. Then if you're in gmail and have the plugin installed, you can call that. That will prevent you from needing to use your phone.
