The Windows 7 Release Candidate was officially released to download last night. I have it up and running right now. :D

Working like a charm so far, I'm just in the process of installing programs and such. Here's an article by Lifehacker.

It's the Release Candidate, which means the bugs are sorted out after beta testers tried it. But it's still not completed, it's just like a trial.

I think it's much better than Vista by far, from the amount I used it in the beta session.

I'll be writing my next article on the Release Candidate, seeing as there are plenty of changes since my article on the Beta.

I've had it installed for just over a week now, and I'm still impressed. I'm really excited to see Microsoft begin to remove legacy coding, and moving toward a virtualized solution. If you have any programs that won't work in Vista / Windows 7, try out XP Mode. It runs a full XP Virtual Machine, which in itself isn't all that spectacular at all. However, unlike a traditional VM, you can create shortcuts to programs that run in your VM from within your native OS.

In Microsoft can continue on this path, expect future builds (Windows 8 and beyond) to be more and more streamlined as old code can be removed. Not only will it run better (faster, less resources needed (probably)), but security holes that rely on this old code will be eliminated forever.
